No, I'm not related to him. --Dhartung | Talk 05:44, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

possible mistake?? edit

"Here he went 25-0 as a pitcher and averaged 15 strikes a game, and batted a stratospheric .567." Do you mean STRIKEOUTS, not STRIKES? Otherwise its an interesting and fascinating article! Royalbroil 14:30, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Of course you're right, and thanks -- I always thought he should have an article. --Dhartung | Talk 20:16, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Should Not Qualify For Wikipedia edit

There were over 15,000 people who have played in major league baseball and just being one of those people should not qualify someone for an article, although I know currently the policy does. We really need to change the policy that states any athelete that played professionally qualifies for "notable". Professional includes the minor league level of all sports. Does someone who played Single-A baseball really qualify as notable for that reason alone. I'm sure it's interesting to the author because he/she share the same last name but not to most others. The article is also poorly referenced with poor sources and is simply not written well. Let us work together to get that "professional athelete" policy changed. You are very close to being blocked for WP:NPA violations. It's established that you made the AfD nom for this article, because you are in a dispute with the creator of this article. This subject is clearly notable, having played in MLB for 5 years. The article is not too long, but it is nicely written. Stop trying to pick fights with users. Validity of $35,000 signing edit

The article currently states that "the Giants signed him for $35,000." "Signed him" would normally be taken to mean that he received the $35,000. But a write up about him in the Feb/24/1947 Life Magazine says his contract was purchased from Minneapolis for that sum (plus four players). The wikipedia article doesn't seem to provide any source for the "signed him" claim. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:98A:4100:36A0:B8A2:1CE5:DE59:3854 (talk) 22:58, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
