BULK OF ARTICLE REMOVED FOR PLAGIARISM

edit

The article, before its redactive edit, contained quotations and abounded in factual information. Despite material having been taken direct from sources, there was not a single in-line citation in the article. It is therefore a complete and clear PLAGIARISM, by any standard. Such an egregious misuse of privileged material cannot remain as a wikipedia article.

This matter was attended to cursory fashion in July 2012, and so it is clear that the elements of the problem have been known for some time. However, the peppering of the article with flags that citations are needed, while nobel for its effort in this case, is an example of placing plasters on a gaping tumorous growth, and is insufficient.

Please do not reverse this redaction, without discussion at high level. It is a continuing embarrassment to wikipedia (and detrimental to its impact) that such practices are not dealt with firmly and consistently. One recommendation would be to mention the possibility that Charles Macklin haunts Drury Lane theatre (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theatre_Royal,_Drury_Lane#Drury_Lane_Theatre_Royal_Ghosts ) Cyberbytli (talk) 01:55, 3 May 2009 (UTC)cyberbytliReply
