2 platforms? edit

The infobox currently states that the station will have 2 platforms. However, the line is currently single-track and neither of the 2 sources for this article can back any suggestion of doubling the line up. In fact, the "artist's impression" images in image 14 (cited as a source by the article) show it as single-track. While logically a proposed 6tph between Queen Street and the Bay would suggest double-track, I can't see any way of verifying this claim. The latest news items still refer to Loudoun Square having two platforms. If the current service is to be increased in frequency, I can only assume that the station will be located on a passing place. Although if Cardiff Bay station is to have a second platform, perhaps more of the line is to be doubled.Ntmr (talk) 18:23, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Peeky44 and Ntmr: Local residents (like me) recently had some information sheets put through our doors by TfW. These confirm that the bay line is going to be doubled, with a new island platform at Cardiff Bay, and run by tram-trains, with 2 new Bute Street-Lloyd George Avenue pedestrian crossings installed (just straight over the tracks, tramway style). They also say that the location of the proposed new station (this one) has been moved 100m or so further north, to the other side of Letton Road underpass, and will now be called "Butetown North" rather than "Loudoun Square". Then again, they also said construction sites would appear in September, and there's no sign of them yet... BigDom (talk) 06:53, 11 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Loudoun Square railway stationButetown railway station – Various news articles (for example, see ITV, Wales Online and even Transport for Wales who are to construct it) have referred to the station as Butetown railway station and construction is to begin imminently. It looks as though the name has changed, as often happens from concept to reality (see "The Flourish" on the same line). I agree that a move would be appropriate doktorb wordsdeeds 20:08, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'd want to see a bit more evidence of it's name before moving it - though there seems slightly more evidence for "Butetown railway station" (the BBC article) than "Loudoun Square railway station" (no proof). Shouln't there be a Bay Line article this can be redirected to until we get firmer confirmation this is going ahead? Sionk (talk) 22:10, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
See Butetown branch line. The station has already been approved and it looks like construction on the current station is due to start this month. Difficultly north (talk) The artist formerly known as Simply south 22:16, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
TfW's FAQ states the following [1] What will the new Butetown station be named? - This is to be determined as part of our placemaking. We'll be working with the community and our partners to develop the name. so not 100% sure on the rename argument, plus the wording in those articles provided is usually tagged with "in Butetown" and "a Butetown", therefore to me could indicate "Butetown" is used as a locator rather than the final name of the station, but may be looking at it too closely. But at the same time Butetown is a more general locator than Loudoun Square when in doubt.
Are there new maps or timetables of the proposals, with the station labelled? (they likely can only fit one name on those).
This WalesOnline article about the recent (late-Jan) approval of "Cardiff Crossrail" [2], does seem to use Loudoun Square in sort of past tense, Plans for the new Butetown station - referred to in some documents as Loudon [sic] Square (they do mispell it though :D) and reference 2019 proposals where LS is used, but don't explicitly state that it is or is not the station's name. So, are there any new maps/construction documents of any sort? they seem to potentially offer some clarification.
@BigDom stated above they've heard it is supposed to be "Butetown North". (Mark Barry uses that, is he reliable?) But it is more similar to Butetown as requested than the current one, so could be an argument for the RM.
So if there is less evidence of recent use for "Loudoun Square", then moving to Butetown probably makes sense when used as a locator, but it is not yet clear it is the station's name. DankJae 01:11, 7 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
