Sources edit

Some of the facts such as "Under Roman Catholic canon law, it enjoys the status of a minor basilica," need to be attributed via reliable sources. Miranda 08:52, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

denomination edit

Does anyone know what denomination controls the church? The Church of the Nativity and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre are under the authority of the Greek Orthodox but is this one as well? User:jfry3 May 15 2009 —Preceding undated comment added 22:49, 15 May 2009 (UTC).Reply

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is in fact divided among many groups. This one seems to be Catholic. AnonMoos (talk) 14:39, 25 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mosque-building plan controversy edit

Should discuss the fact that ca. 1999, Muslims were planning on building a mosque which -- due to its size and location -- seemed to be very specifically and purposefully intended to overshadow and loom over the Church of the annunciation, causing years of controversy. See http://www.nytimes.com/1999/04/20/world/israel-sets-forth-compromise-plan-on-nazareth-mosque-dispute.html?pagewanted=1 http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2002/march11/27.33.html etc. etc. AnonMoos (talk) 14:39, 25 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article name, disambiguation needed edit

In the world there are many churches named Church of the Annunciation, so I think such name should be a disambiguation page, or redirected to the current disambiguation Annunciation Church. The article of the Nazareth church could either be named Church of the Annunciation, Nazareth, Church of the Annunciation (Nazareth) or Basilica of the Annunciation.--Jordiferrer (talk) 08:46, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

History of the Church edit

I found the following within the "History" section: "The first shrine was probably built sometime in the middle of the 4th century". The paragraph does not list any references at all (it seems like an editor speculating). Does anyone know where this information came from? ArtofChange (talk) 15:46, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
