The page contains inaccuracies that should be corrected, as follows:

  • The company was founded and is managed by Marcus Peperzak, CEO and Founder. Mark Retzloff is a Board member, but was not the original

founder of the company. Marc Peperzak actually founded Aurora Dairy Corp. in 1976 as a conventional dairy operator, then converted the company to 100% organic in 2003, which is when Mark Retzloff became involved, but was not the founder of the company. Please refer to the below sources to verify this information:

  • The third paragraph incorrectly states that the USDA "found" willful violations of organic standards. The USDA investigated a complaint

filed by activist group, Cornucopia, and determined after that investigation that there were no willful violations of organic standards, therefore the company maintained continuous organic certifications since converting to 100% organic in 2003. A Consent Agreement from USDA states that there were inconsistencies in the interpretation of organic standards, which is not "willful violations," and that this agreement supersedes all other communication regarding 2007 investigation of the Platteville Dairy and prior notice of proposed revocation of organic certification. The articles cited in the Wikipedia page reference a dated document that was resolved with the Consent Agreement. Furthermore, if the USDA had determined there were "willful violations," the Consent Agreement (signed by CEO Marc Peperzak) would not have been entered into, nor would the Platteville Dairy maintain its organic certification.

As such, the statement, first sentence, paragraph 3 should read:

In August 2007, Aurora entered a consent agreement with the United States Department of Agriculture <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Agriculture> after the agency investigated 14 alleged willful violations of federal organic law.

  • Additionally, for a more balanced view of the company, the following reports can be cited:

There has been recent edit warring over some of the content above. At a minimum, the claim that Marc Peperzak is CEO and Founder is well referenced, and the claim that Mark Retzloff is the 'Owner' is not. A google search shows that Mark Retzloff is variously mentioned as Chairman, former president and co-founder. Removal of referenced content should be discussed first on the talk page, but adding well-referenced content does not require prior discussion.Dialectric (talk) 19:50, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Marcus Peperzak is founder and CEO and should be listed in the upper right-hand corner of the page where it says Mark Retzloff is the Owner. In the paragraph stating that Mark Retzloff founded the company in 2003, that should be changed to Marc Peperzak ... he founded Aurora Dairy Corp. in 1976 and converted his operation to 100% organic in 2003, at which point Mark Retzloff joined the company as a Board member and Chief Organic Officer. In 2010, Mark Retzloff left his role in day-to-day management to relaunch natural foods retail brand, Alfalfa's. He continues to be a Board member of Aurora Organic Dairy, but was not the original founder of the company, nor is he the sole owner. We are not asking to remove the reference to Mark Retzloff, but would like Marcus Peperzak's role to be accurately included in the article. STuitele (talk) 18:51, 23 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
