Harrisburg tornado section, and Nebraska tornadoes

edit

My first question is, should the Harrisburg, Illinois tornado get its own section? Given its rating and death toll it clearly stands out from the other tornadoes in this outbreak. Also, based on what I've found it would appear that the tornado near Logan, Nebraska shows it to be the first tornado to hit Nebraska since record began in 1950, but the synopsis claims its the first since 1958. Can anyone verify the 1958 claim? A search of the NCDC archives shows no tornadoes in Nebraska in February of 1958.TornadoLGS (talk) 19:07, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Nebraska tornadoes aren't notable enough to warrant a section. Just a mention of it is all that's needed in the table. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 21:25, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I realize that. My point was that I doubt the validity of the statement in the synopsis, which states that these are first first since 1958, as I have found no records of any tornadoes in Nebraska in February of that year. What I want is to see is some verification for that. Otherwise it should be changed. TornadoLGS (talk) 21:31, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The statement that I saw from the NWS stated that they were they first on record which means since the start of NCDC - 1950. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 21:33, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
That's what I thought. I have changed the synopsis to reflect this.TornadoLGS (talk) 21:41, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Weak tornado on March 1

edit

There was an EF0 tornado in eastern Tennessee early on March 1. Should this be added to the list? I did notice a few tornado warnings, and the cells appeared to be from the same system. TornadoLGS (talk) 04:22, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I would say definitely; as far as I can tell it was part of the same group of cells. EquusStorm (talk) 08:27, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The line that produced the tornadoes mentioned in this outbreak was gone by then. I'd consider it just an isolated tornado not attached to an outbreak. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 13:23, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The tornado should be included because it WAS part of the system. Morristown has storm reports that go all the way to the time of this tornado and all of those reports were related to the outbreak. United States Man (talk) 19:44, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

This article needs to be merged with the February 28–March 3, 2012 tornado outbreak sequence as this was part of today's outbreak. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 02:35, 3 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

They are two distinct outbreaks and should be depicted as such. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 02:42, 3 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
They were two completely distinct systems with two low pressure systems. I recommend leaving them alone. CrazyC83 (talk) 01:04, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
They are two separate completely different outbreaks, even though they are closely together they are pretty distinctive JayJayTalk to me 17:02, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Therefore I removed the merge banner from the article. --Matthiasb (talk) 16:12, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Reno County Tornado

edit

It appears one tornado was confirmed by NWS Wichita to have produced damage in Reno County, Kansas but the page just describes it as a "weak tornado" without giving a rating. Should we add it as "confirmed but not rated" or wait for NCDC? TornadoLGS (talk) 04:05, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Add as confirmed but not rated. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 13:49, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I have done the same for the monthly list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TornadoLGS (talkcontribs) 01:03, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
