Misrepresentation of a source edit

Israel named Zakaria Zubeidi, a leader of the brigades, as the prime suspect who planned the attack

Zubeidi is the most infamous of the six. A former commander of Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade, he was behind the 2002 attack at a Likud party branch in Beit She’an in which six people were killed, among other attacks
There is no mention in the source that Zubeidi is a prime suspect. It states outright that he was behind the attack, not suspected of being so. It turns out that this is indeed a suspicion (and may well be true, or untrue) but the source used states it as a fact and we should not be faking the text in this misleading way. There is no mention of Israel naming him in that capacity in the source. So this is inept WP:OR manipulation of the source.Nishidani (talk) 21:02, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- The Jack Khouri Haaretz source (which is linked to in the article) calls him the "mastermind" of the Bet She'an attack on Likud HQ ("another masterminded an attack on a Likud HQ.") What we have is a close-enough paraphrase, but if you'd like, we can change "prime suspect" to "mastermind". Inf-in MD (talk)
- IT does not. It mentions that of the six one was the 'mastermind' of the attack (asserting a fact). It then names the six suspects. Linking the two is an editorial inference. It does not name him as the mastermind. This is elementary. Secondly, none of you have drawn our attention to the legal basis for this designation. It is an assertion made by several newspaper writers, Khoury, Breiner etc.in 2021. The basis for the claim is not given. Unless one can come up with court records relating to Beit She'an that finger him as the 'mastermind' this remains a newspaper claim.Nishidani (talk) 07:31, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
- We're not idiots here. It says one masterminded the attack on Likud HQ, and then in the infobox for Zubeidi, and only his infobox, says he was behind the attack. It is very clear we are talking about him. The way this encyclopedia works is if multiple reliable sources say something, we can say so, too, no matter ho much you don't like it.Inf-in MD (talk) 11:35, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
- Not that it is needed, per above, but I've added another source which says "Zubeidi, 45, was arrested in 2019 for shooting at Israelis in the West Bank. He has been in and out of Israeli prisons for most of his life, including a sentence for his supervision of a terrorist attack in 2002 in the city of Beit Shean that killed six.".
