Lego 2K Goal (stylized as LEGO 2K Goooal!) is an upcoming sports video game co-developed by Sumo Digital[2] and Visual Concepts,[3] and published by 2K.
Plot
editAccording to one source, the game was supposed to coincide with the 2022 FIFA World Cup,[4] whereas according to two other sources, the game was supposed to coincide with the UEFA Euro 2024.[5][6]
Gameplay
editIn December 2022, there was a leak of a Lego minifigure in a packet which featured a character called 'Finnius Dash' with the 2K logo in the corner. The figure is customized, in this case with a purple shark mask and an FC Barcelona jersey, which suggests that the game will not only have official players but also be giving the freedom to customize them.[a][7]
The game is said to be a 'test game' before the release of FIFA 25 by 2K.[6]
Development and release
editIn February 2022, it was announced that 2K had acquired the Lego license to create three sports video games. The first came out more than a year later, that of which being Lego 2K Drive. A month later, the Lego 2K Goal's rating was released by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of South Korea[1][2] and a month after that, it had been approved in Taiwan.[8]
According to Vandal, the game was supposed to released in late 2022, and was supposed to coincide with the 2022 FIFA World Cup.[4] On November 8, 2023, the game had appeared as an official listing on the PlayStation Store. Within a day, the game's page was deleted, leaving many people to think it was a mistake.[9][10][11] According to Eurogamer and IGN, the game was supposed to be announced in March 2024, and was the release was supposed to coincide with the UEFA Euro 2024.[5][6]
