Pre-season and friendlies edit

On 17 May, Bristol City announced their pre-season preparations would end away to Portsmouth.[84] A day later, the club confirmed their pre-season schedule, with fixtures against Reading, Swindon Town, Newport County, Oxford United and Exeter City.[85] A seventh and final friendly was later confirmed, against Cheltenham Town.[86] On July 14, the club announced they would begin pre-season with a behind closed doors friendly against Torquay United.[87]
