Year 127 BC was a year of the pre-Julian Roman calendar. At the time it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Ravilla and Cinna (or, less frequently, year 627 Ab urbe condita) and the Second Year of Yuanshuo. The denomination 127 BC for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.

- In response to Han incursions over the previous two years, the Xiongnu invade northern China. They kill the governor of Liaoxi, carry off 2000 of the inhabitants of Yuyang and defeat the Han general Han Anguo.
- Emperor Wu of Han orders the general Wei Qing to invade Xiongnu territory from Yunzhong and the general Li Xi to attack from Dai.
- Wei Qing marches north-west and defeats a Xiongnu army near Gaoque. He then marches south of the bend of the Yellow River to conquer the Ordos Plateau. In the Ordos Plateau, he defeats the Xiongnu and their Baiyang and Loufan allies in the battles of Puni and Fuli. After capturing a substantial Xiongnu scouting force, he then learns the location of the main Xiongnu army in the region, and attacks and routs this force. The conquered territory becomes the province of Shuofang.
