There is no Wikiproject dedicated to veganism and vegetarianism which is a popular topic on Wikipedia. There is a Wikiproject Food and drink but it is not active in relation to this topic and a scan of the archives of that Wikiproject reveals that the topic of veganism and vegetarianism has been rarely discussed in the past. There are many articles on veganism and vegetarianism on Wikipedia that need attention from experts or new users. This would be a great project to create and get people involved to fix articles relating to this subject. It would also be a great resource to educate new users about WP:MEDRS guidelines when it comes to veganism or vegetarianism on Wikipedia and we should try and make the articles as neutral as possible without any dubious content. This would be a good project to educate users not just about the subject itself but Wikipedia guidelines as well. Also it would be a good place for users with an interest in the topic to meet likeminded users.

I have improved many articles in relation to historical vegetarianism but there is much work to be done on many other high-traffic articles including, veganism, vegetarianism, vegan nutrition and vegetarian nutrition etc.

Note that I have called the Wikiproject "veganism and vegetarianism" because I have followed the template name and it makes sense to include both veganism and vegetarianism in the Wikiproject title.

  6. Support. It's a must to unify various articles under the topic. Kudos to Psychologist Guy for initiating this. Rasnaboy (talk) 12:52, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  7. Support. Might be interesting to include more on Sentientism (a naturalistic worldview that implies veganism) and maybe a Category and a List of Notable Sentientists? --JamieWoodhouse (talk) 15:09, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    1. Yes. I would agree. How this WikiProject would prioritize and develop this WikiProject's interests in comparative worldviews could be explored, perhaps with much input from several social sources. I suspect that, in particular, younger persons could find a well-developed network of interlinked Wikipedia articles to be very helpful in their search for discernment in further study of interrelated topics. 8. I support and would join this project. Thank you for proposing it. BrikDuk (talk) 17:05, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion edit

  • Support. In addition to the topics listed, there are a number of biographical topics in other currently-existing projects which deserve attention in this proposed (and hopefully accepted) project. MaynardClark (talk) 21:30, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • I would think that the herbivorous philosophic tradition ought to be 'articulated informationally' inside the Wikipedia, and perhaps contrasting that with vegetarian and vegan thoughtleaders who differed on important topics with those who were deemed to be vegan and vegetarian philosophers: Pythagoras; Epicurus; Theophrastus; Ovid; Seneca; Plutarch; Plotinus, Porphyry ... Schopenhauer, Singer, Leonardo da Vinci, Regan, Dombrowski, Linzey, Wise, et al|. Then ask the question, does herbivorous diet make any difference in the directions which intellection pursues. These biographies have been included in History of vegetarianism articles. I don't know whether advocates for herbivorous eating have always agreed with one another on other topics that they considered to be 'core values' or insights. • I created a vegan school meal page if it might be relevant to this project. I hope to do work on milk substitute page that is different than plant milk page and needs alignment for consistency. It might be relevant to this project. BrikDuk (talk) 17:12, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • The carnism page might also be of relevant interest to this group. BrikDuk (talk) 18:10, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
