The result of the discussion was merge to Template:Contains special characters. (non-admin closure) Mdaniels5757 (talk) 21:02, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Template:AA with Template:Contains special characters.

Recently a lot of the other special characters boxes were nominated for deletion with the proposal closing to merge them to {{Contains special characters}}. Since it would not make any sense to retain some boxes as specific templates and not others I'm nominating the rest of them for merging. --Trialpears (talk) 21:00, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template superseded by the Football match line-up set set of templates. Last 10 transclusions should be replaced and then the template redirected/deleted. --Trialpears (talk) 19:12, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This deprecated template has been nominated for deletion twice before (June 2012 and December 2012) with the result "Keep for now" both times to allow for the transclusions to be replaced with {{Basketballstats}} in time. I think it is now time to list it at WP:TFDH to deal with the last 270 transclusions. --Trialpears (talk) 18:56, 20 June 2020 (UTC)v[reply]

Ancient experiment (no real edits in 14 years), one transclusion, fully protected. Subst and delete. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:18, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Template:Infobox recurring event with Template:Infobox holiday.

  • Oppose. I am not a big fan of that essay because it leads to nominations like this one where, for a blanket ideological reason, life is made more hard for editors and/or readers. These templates aren't that similar and I think merging them makes life more difficult for editors and, because the final template will likely be more clunky, potentially editors. These templates seem to do a fine job as is. --Tom (LT) (talk) 08:25, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - these are clearly distinct in both function and appearance, so let's keep them that way. Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:42, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - yes a public holiday is a recurring event, but public holidays are official national days declared by the government, unlike an independently organised convention or festival. GOLDIEM J (talk) 13:20, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose – The recurring event template is used for certain events that are not holidays, such as conventions, and holidays and more general recurring events have distinct attributes. Mz7 (talk) 06:15, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - While holidays are things that do happen multiple times with predictability, they are not recurring events in the sense that Template:Infobox recurring event describes. Most parameters in either template do not fit the needs of adequately describing the other thing. Specifically, Template:Infobox holiday has no parameters for any organizations, founders, or administration; those are all things crucial info for recurring events.
