Cleveland EMS edit

Is it right that contact information is put on the contact section at the page at Cleveland EMS? Is that Wikipedias function? scope_creepTalk 00:04, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Scope creep: There were a few things wrong with the info. I cleaned it up. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 00:30, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Timtempleton: It was bit raw looking. Looks much better now. You often wonder what to do in these situations as in this case it for the public, should you leave it... Thanks. scope_creepTalk 00:33, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Scope creep: I usually put addresses and URLs in infoboxes, and also put URLS in the external links section, but have never seen a phone number in an article. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 00:37, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to say something about how dumb you would have to be if you went to Wikipedia to find out how to call an ambulance, but then I realized, people are pretty dumb sometimes. (And surely the correct phone number would just be 911, which anyone, even in Cleveland, would know) Beeblebrox (talk) 00:54, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You would assume that. I live in the UK and even I know about 911, after watching about 6000 cop shows and visiting about a dozen times. Maybe the editor thought certain people would panic, or something like that, maybe lookup Wikipedia for help, or search for the page. Who knows. Pretty slim I think. scope_creepTalk 10:35, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Note that WP:NOTDIR (item 3) says, "Contact information such as phone numbers, fax numbers and e-mail addresses is not encyclopedic". Deor (talk) 17:07, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Date of Death edit

Dear Wikipedia,

A simple algorithm criterion like - future date for death not allowed, should be helpful. I just corrected one article where Death date was written in future.

Please take note, Thank you, Regards, Shilpa — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shilpasy (talkcontribs) 02:41, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for correcting that Shilpa. Your suggestion seems sound and could be raised at Wikipedia:Edit_filter/Requested: Bhunacat10 (talk), 07:40, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The only issue with the above (what I see as a good idea), is the potential that someone died in one timezone, and updated in a second timezone where it would be considered the day before. Worth bringing up at the edit filter however. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 18:18, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's hard to discover for an edit filter. The error used {{Death date and age}} which uses Module:Age. I have suggested adding a tracking category at Module talk:Age#Death dates in the future. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:53, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My wiki page disappeared edit

WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY may be of help. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:45, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, there's no way to give a more specific answer without knowing the name of the page the information was on. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:32, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The only edit you have ever made under this IP address is to ask the question above. If you want a meaningful answer, we will need to know what the page was called so we can look into it.--Gronk Oz (talk) 16:43, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Change official page name edit

Hi there,

I need assistance with a page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Restaurant_Karel_V as I can't figure out exactly how to make this change. The name of the page is incorrect, the restaurant name is Restaurant Karel 5 and we would really like to amend this in Wikipedia too.

I found guidelines and they mentioned that you are supposed to use the button "move page" which I don't have yet. Another source " To request a single page move, edit at the bottom of the talk page of the article you want moved, without adding a new header, inserting this code: ...." but I don't have the edit as well.

I am a bit confused and I would really want to make this change.

Could you please assist?

Thank you

Debora— Preceding unsigned comment added by Debora.orange (talkcontribs) 09:06, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Debora, the website says "Karel V" [1]. Do you have any sources that is was changed to "Karel 5"? Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 09:46, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Taketa: The marketing bods have been at it again. The hotel is the "Grand Hotel Karel V", but the restaurant is "Karel 5" see here. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 09:53, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @Martin of Sheffield:, thank you for bringing this to my attention, I had just noticed myself and have started the rename. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 09:55, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And now an edit conflict! OK, you beat me to it whilst I was researching it! :-) @Debora.orange: – from your editing history it looks as though you may be closely connected or even employed by the hotel or restaurant. If so you must read and follow our WP:COI and WP:PAID policies. If either or both apply you should request changes on the talk page and not make edits to the main namespace itself. Remember that the page is an encyclopaedic article on the restaurant, not social media. Regards, Martin of Sheffield (talk) 09:59, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Will Cain bio / error edit

Will Cain's bio says he accused Antonio Brown of being a suicide bomber when in fact, as the accompanying video clearly shows, he merely compared Brown's actions to those of a suicide bomber. Can this please be adjusted? Dave Nagle ESPN Communications Dept. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.234.2.18 (talkcontribs) 15:44, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done The article in question is Will Cain. I changed the part in question to be an exact quote from the video, namely "Cain accused Antonio Brown of being 'like a suicide bomber'..."
For the future, the best place to raise this request is on the Talk page associated with that specific article, i.e. Talk:Will Cain. The Help Desk is for questions about how to edit Wikipedia, rather than to ask for changes. --Gronk Oz (talk) 16:39, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to the help desk. This page is for asking for help using and editing Wikipedia, not general questions like this. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not an advice service. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:34, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not entirely sure what you are referencing, but Wikipedia is not a news outlet; it has article about subjects written about in independent reliable sources that meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability. This is also a volunteer project, meaning that people write about what they can when they can. If you want to attempt to write such an article, you can use Articles for Creation to submit a draft for review(as an unregistered user you cannot directly create articles). 331dot (talk) 17:06, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think the topic is:
'Wikipedia or someone is very negligent in not covering Navajo and Hopi Tribes removals and their forced marches.'
Trappist the monk (talk) 17:09, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There is this: Long Walk of the Navajo. I don't find anything similar for the Hopi people (that doesn't mean that there is nothing, just that a quick search didn't find anything).
Trappist the monk (talk) 17:16, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
More than 100,000 volunteer Wikipedia editors have been active in the last 30 days. Nobody assigns tasks to editors: each editor does whatever they want. If "someone" has been negligent, then that "someone" is you. If the topic is notable, then you should write the article: you have just as much right and responsibility to do so as any of the rest of us. If you choose to undertake this task, please read WP:YFA to see how to proceed. -Arch dude (talk) 19:58, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Some editors choose to organize themselves into Wikipedia projects, while others do not. You might wish to look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America to see if you wish to help out or ask for help. I urge you to avoid terms like "very negligent" if you intend to ask for help from these dedicated volunteers. -Arch dude (talk) 03:18, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Article for Submission edit

I have submitted an article three times with no response. The article is titled, "Society for NeuroOncoloyg." I fixed the changes that were requested when it was first denied in Oct., and since then I have resubmitted three times. Can someone help me understand? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShelleyPressley (talkcontribs) 17:10, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@ShelleyPressley: Your submission is pending; they are reviewed in no particular order by volunteers, who do what they can when they can. There are over 2500 drafts awaiting review, so you will need to be patient. It could get reviewed 10 minutes from now or 3 months from now. 331dot (talk) 18:40, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@ShelleyPressley: The article Draft:Society for NeuroOncology has been reviewed now. At this stage, the article still needs some work before it is accepted - the reviewers comments are at the top of the article, to guide you in what improvements are needed. --Gronk Oz (talk) 03:31, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Query regarding the ease of accesibilty of articles via 'google search' edit

To Wiki help desk, I recently created an article about a building in a town called Flixton 'the church of st Michael, flixton' . When i search for this building St.Micheal's church, Flixton on the google homepage there is no sight of the article, on wikipedia that is unless i specifically type in 'the church of st Michael, flixton wikipedia' as a search query. If for some people want to see what the building is about, it would be quite hard for them as in typing in just the name on GOOGLE,as search doesn't link to the wikipage. Is there a way that one can type in the rough name e.g. St micheal's church, flixton on google and the article appearing either on the google tab on the right for info and/or the results near the top (as most wiki articles are), without having to specifically typing the exact name, im saying this for e.g. people who are new to the area/people wanting to find out about it, and their ease of accessibility in finding the wiki page on the article.

here is the article in question; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_St_Michael,_Flixton

here is the google search request: Note the absence of a wikipedia article even though there is one? https://www.google.com/search?safe=strict&ei=H42nXKmuLPuE1fAPjvSLiA0&q=st+micheals+church+flixton&oq=st+micheals+church+flixton&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0i13j0i22i30l7.584.7051..7164...6.0..0.113.2166.33j1......0....1..gws-wiz.....0..0i71j0j0i131j0i67j0i10j0i131i67j0i13i30.g5Fd8SskrS8

Many Thanks, — Preceding unsigned comment added by RoryFC (talkcontribs) 17:17, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

RoryFC, It takes some time, usually a few days, for google to index new pages. Just wait a few days, and it should appear. WelpThatWorked (talk) 17:21, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are fortunate that the article was reviewed through the "New page patrol" process on the day it was created. New articles are NOINDEXed until reviewed. There are almost 5000 articles awaiting review, and it can take months. One thing which you can do to improve the article, as well as to help with Google indexing when the time comes, is to correct the spelling. The name Michael is spelled incorrectly in at least 9 cases through the article. --David Biddulph (talk) 17:30, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Another improvement which you ought to make is to consolidate references used more than once, see WP:REFB#Same reference used more than once. --David Biddulph (talk) 17:35, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am having difficulty trying to tell whether user:2405:204:A0AA:82FD:9DDF:22F4:C609:CBBB is a vandal because their contributions are suspicious yet there is nothing concrete in my eyes to indicate they are a vandal. CLCStudent (talk) 20:51, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

things like this aand this look like vandalism to me but i'm not expert since they are adjusting people's heights by small amounts Mujinga (talk) 21:16, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
