Ralph Byrd

edit

Does not mention his first wife Vera and fact he was survived by a son Conrad Byrd as well — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:240:4203:37C0:88EB:8273:939F:45F0 (talk) 00:56, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you can point us towards one or more mentions of these facts published in Reliable Sources, which can be included as references/citations to support them and which users can check for themselves, we could add them to the article. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 94.12.75.147 (talk) 01:10, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Error in Thomas Shorthand page

edit

Hello, I tried to create an account, but was unable to do so. I got a chapta error that would not refresh. I could see it clearly, but it said that the answer was wrong.

The page about Thomas Shorthand has an error. Thomas Shorthand was created by Charles A. Thomas (he went by C. A. Thomas), but it is not the same Charles A. Thomas in the link. The correct Charles A. Thomas was my great grandfather. He lived for a time in Council Bluffs, IA. He had one daughter and one son. After his wife died, he married Priscilla (sorry, I don't know her maiden name). Priscilla outlived C. A. Thomas by many years, but both are gone now.

What information do I need to provide to get the webpage corrected. I'm relatively certain that there is no page for the correct Charles A. Thomas because I do not think that any other aspects of his life have been chronicled on Wikipedia. Maybe just removing the link to the wrong Charles A. Thomas is enough.

The only other information that I can give about the Thomas Shorthand is that it was included in the World Book Encyclopedia, way back when the world used encyclopedias. I believe that my grandmother still has a copy of the volume that includes Thomas Shorthand.

36.85.157.64 Please do not be deterred by the insensitive directness of certain editors that float around Wikipedia with a flare of entitlement toward the site. If what you are stating is true (which I 100% believe), there are certain guidelines that Wikipedia requires before accepting such claims. Reliable sources that can be found and cited on the internet or within books are necessary in order to support content within articles. If you can supply these sources, then you can bring them to the talk page of the article in question here: Thomas Natural Shorthand. More importantly, you can request an article to be created for the correct subject. That being said, the Charles Allen Thomas is clearly NOT the correct Charles A. Thomas link for this article and it should be removed. Which I will do on your behalf. Best of luck. Maineartists (talk) 02:29, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Lady Slipper Brook geo-coordinates and GeoNames identifier and so on

edit

Hi all,
I'm attempting to make this article look like sv:Lady Slipper Brook. So far, I have mostly added long wait of Fail-s with respect to adding the appropriate templates to the article.
Would really appreciate help with this!

Shirt58 sorted, although I'm not sure a translation of an article created by a Swedish bot is really that useful...Jokulhlaup (talk) 18:18, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Transclusion delay

edit

It has taken about 21 hours for an update to Talk:Disinformation/GA1 to get picked up by Talk:Disinformation (see Stability section). Is there anyway this process can be given a kick ? Earlier on in the day yesterday updates to the same Talk:Disinformation/GA1 were getting picked up by Talk:Disinformation almost instantaneously.--Penbat (talk) 09:46, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Penbat: Automatic updates can get stuck in the job queue sometimes. To make sure the latest version of the subpage is showing, you can purge the talk page - follow that link for details. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:56, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mobile App Problem

edit

Whenever I open a link using the app, the page automatically jumps to a random section near the end of the article instead of the lead paragraph. This can get irksome. What should I do? SammyMajed (talk) 11:15, 4 March 2017 (UT

Which app do you mean? Which OS? Ruslik_Zero 12:52, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Assuming you mean the mobile Wikipedia app...personally?..delete the thing. It's friggin useless. You're usually better off using a mobile browser if you have to use mobile. TimothyJosephWood 13:19, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In the "see also" section at the end of the page, there is a Lupton website which does not exist. It is dead as far as we can ascertain Please remove it from the page thanks so much. 101.182.96.231 (talk) 11:37, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The website exists (for me) but has no relevant content. Indeed, no meaningful content. Maproom (talk) 11:42, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please help

edit

Reference 132 on the Lupton family page should be at the end of that paragraph. I cannot move it on this phone. Please, can u do it? Thanks as always. 101.182.96.231 (talk) 11:47, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WP:DAILYMAILRFC

edit

I want to create a redirect from WP:DAILYMAILRFC to https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard&oldid=764401103#Daily_Mail_RfC (The archived version of the RfC in question at the moment the final closer's comment was posted). I am only familiar with making redirects to current versions. What is the syntax for redirecting to an archived version? --Guy Macon (talk) 14:54, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Footnotes appear as letters, but references as numbers

edit

Economy of the Arab League hat two footnotes that are marked ^a and ^b, but the references to these footnotes appear as [1] and [2]. Is this a bug or "works as designed" ? -- Juergen 5.146.92.57 (talk) 17:58, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted! I've fixed it, after reading the documentation of the {{Note}} template. -- John of Reading (talk) 18:11, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Looks like neither a software bug nor works as designed, but a user error ... -- Juergen 5.146.92.57 (talk) 18:15, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Angel Thompkins

Angel Tompkins (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

You have failed to admit another of Ms. Thompkins movies. "Naked under leather". Don't recall what year it came out, except in was in the 70"s. I know this is correct, because I saw it on screen. I also met her in person at Lackland AFB in 1977 when she visited our basic training outfit. I still don't know why she did that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WinonaJA (talkcontribs) 19:36, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WinonaJA I am unable to find this exact title under Ms. Tompkins's credits here: Angel Tomplins IMDB Credits. As well, I could not find any reference to that film ("Naked Under Leather") with her name; let alone one being made in the 1970s. I did however find one that was made in 2004 [1]; but she was not in it. Could you please provide a reliable source for your claim? In addition, there is no Filmography template currently listed on the article page to list all of Ms. Tompkins's 61 credits at IMDB. Until that time, it is impossible to list all of her screen / television appearances within her article. You are welcome to provide such a list if you are so inclined to do so. Happy editing! @Marcela35: This question is the only edit by your account. There has been no article called Geoge Maurice Cloud. I found a deleted page called Maurice Cloud about a French artist Georges Maurice Cloud. Maybe that's the "Geoge" you have in mind. It was created in 2008 by User:Oxylea and deleted in 2015 at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maurice Cloud. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:49, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, PrimeHunter. That was very helpful. As for ... well, SMH. Maineartists (talk) 00:11, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
George Maurice Cloud is back, but perhaps not for very long. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:45, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
