The first two were inserted because provably public domain images of the people depicted could not be found. They are from newspapers.com, whatever cleanup can be done would be appreciated. The third, anything that can be done to bring the building out of the shadow in this image that will be used in September 27's TFA would most helpful. @Wehwalt and Pbrks: Sorry @PawełMM:, but I think the previous uploads by Pbrks have a better visual rendering, and better fidelity from source image.

• images #1 & #2: blurring effect is too much important, details are lost.

The intent of the modification/enhancement is not to have a perfect smooth image, but to correct extraneous artifacts/errors but have as much details as in source image.

In these images, the obvious issue is screening. In this way, the job from Pbrks is tremendous.

In my opinion, low-pass filtering doesn't bring any improvement, if not smoothing (i.e. loosing details/rendering) image.

• image #3: seems to be overexposed, with unreal color of the bricks of the stairway, burnt-out letters in the public school's panel, stone stairways burnt-out at the bottom, burnt clouds.

Yes, corrected image from Pbrks has not a full contrast scale, or a full luminosity scale (but in which color world: L only, in RGB color mode, or Lab, or Lu*v* ?). Yes, corrected image from Pbrks still have a transparent grey veil over it, but with a realistic rendering. Moreover, this image is better than the source image, and it enhance the perception with realistic colors.

So, I think these three images deserve to be reverted to their previous version from Pbrks.

Sorry again PawełMM, but I don't think your editings give any enhancement rather than a smoothing of the images, and, personally, I give my vote to the three previous images.
