Change WP:PJTF scope to cover all of Rick Riordan's works? edit

Hi, Zussman1, hate to be "that guy" who keeps harping on this, but I'm hoping to get all the Percy Jackson Task-force members to reach a "final" decision about our scope so we can determine how and if to handle Riordan's new Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. In my opinion, if we decide on a new scope which covers that series, then we need to begin work on applicable pages for it, since the first book has now been officially published. Do you think this project should become the "Rick Riordan" task-force? I'd appreciate your comment here. 2ReinreB2 (talk) 15:41, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes edit

Hi Zussman1, sorry it took so long for me to get on this. (Though I noticed a few of your edits, and they've done a lot to help it out already.) I'm working on beefing up the reception section, but I was wondering whether you thought something ought to be done to the one about the plot. What do you think about providing a short summary of each chapter? This would make the article very different from Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Let me know; If you're willing to wait a little bit, I'd be more than happy to churn out some summaries. 2ReinreB2 (talk) 20:06, 15 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Another quick thing I thought of: How would you feel about removing the characters section entirely, and instead merging it into "Plot", by describing each chapter individually and touching on each character within those sections? I came up with the idea after reading some of Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Novels. 2ReinreB2 (talk) 20:13, 15 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@2ReinreB2, I think that that's a good idea. I'm just a little busy with school lately, so I'll get to work on some of those soon. I would greatly appreciate your help. Zussman1 (talk) 21:50, 15 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Just added a plot summary of the first chapter. How do you like it? (It is a little wordy.) If it's good, I can do this for all the chapters and we can scrap the "Characters" section. With better references, I think both the reviewer's issues with the draft will be solved, and you can re-nominate it for admission into the encyclopedia. 2ReinreB2 (talk) 04:20, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@2ReinreB2, it's really good. I think that we could make it a little shorter. I'll try to get to work on the rest of them sometime in the next week. Thank you so much for your help! Zussman1 (talk) 19:34, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hey there, Zussman1. Just a little courtesy notice that a new WP:PJTF member created the page Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes. You should check it out, as well as his/her post here. The task-force will need to decide how to handle merging your draft with his/hers, because yours can no longer pass review unless one of the pages' names is changed. 2ReinreB2 (talk) 20:56, 1 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks! I noticed that he edited the draft page, so perhaps we should choose which page will be used soon. Zussman1 (talk) 02:51, 5 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
It started out as your draft page, so WP:PJTF'll leave it up to you. Personally, I'd consider making the full page a redirect for now and keeping going with the draft. That way, if and when it passes submission, we'll know it's 100% good-to-go. Up to you, let me know if you need help executing whatever you decide. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 22:30, 8 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@2ReinreB2: I think that's the best way to proceed. If we would want to use the draft as the real page eventually, wouldn't we need to delete the current page? Zussman1 (talk) 00:41, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Not sure. I think we could just rename (move) it into a redirect that would help when people search. So, name the page "PJ Heroes" and have it redirect to the actual "Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes" page. Something like that. Let me know if you want me to take care of this redirect, else you can take care of it yourself. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 01:17, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@2ReinreB2: I'm not really sure how to do this, so I'd prefer if you do it. Thank you for all of your help! Zussman1 (talk) 01:54, 16 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Okay, the page is now a redirect. I'm going to hold off on moving it until the draft is finished, as we may not ever need to. Check out Help:Redirect if you ever want to try redirecting on your own. It's fairly simple, but I'm always happy to help. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 23:46, 17 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Editor of the Week edit

  Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for your determination and dedication to help the encyclopedia grow. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

Editor 2ReinreB2 submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate Editor Zussman1 to be Editor of the Week for their undaunted determination to contribute. This user has been a member for less than a year, and yet has already become one of three absolutely invaluable editors who have triple-handedly revived the Percy Jackson Task-force, inactive for about three years previously. As a task-force contributor, Zussman1 has shown admirable drive and a willingness to cooperate with other users which does him/her great credit. They have completed several tasks requested by the project and asked for no recognition -- yet another praiseworthy point. This editor has also created and/or contributed to several drafts (Draft:Dvore House, for example) and, though they have been declined for submission, has not lost his/her willingness to continue working. Finally, Zussman1 has also displayed a commendable knack for recognizing an area in need of help and devoting themselves to it. While some new Wikipedians flounder, Zussman1 has zeroed-in on an area of focus and explored all the different facets of Wikipedia-editing to improve it: from uploading images and archiving talk pages, to patrolling for vandalism and doing research on sources and references.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

One of the benefits of facilitating the Eddy award is that I get to meet quality editors like you. Too many veteran editors spend too much time at the various drama-laden pages of Wikipedia. They rarely take the time to see the hard working editors that fly under the radar of contention and strife and they begin to look at WP as one argument after another. Editors like you are the heartbeat of Wikipedia. Thanks for all you do. Happy New Year. Buster Seven Talk 17:12, 27 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Why would you move Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes to that short two lines in Camp Half-Blood chronicles? It doesn't seem very smart to me, or will you upload it when you're finished with the Draft?

On Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard being a trilogy edit

Hey there, Zussman1. Noticed you reverted my edit to Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. No problem, just wanted to explain why I made my change in the first place -- the info that it's a trilogy needs a reference, and there isn't one in the header (that I can see at least). I just wanted to let you know before some other editor comes along and flags for referencing issues, or starts nit-picking other parts of the article. Thanks for reading! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 18:30, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

@2ReinreB2: Sure, no problem. I just found a source stating that it will be a trilogy and will add it right now. Zussman1 (talk) 00:33, 29 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edit to Rick Riordan edit

Hey there, Zussman1. I just came across your recent edit and it made me think. I know authors sometimes write reviews and introductions to other authors' novels, but I don't know if that's noteworthy for Wikipedia. Riordan's intro for Tales of the Greek Heroes is a pretty important one, but I think I've read something else that he intro'ed, and I don't know if we should list them all. Maybe we should just mention his Tales into in another section; i.e. a sentence like "He wrote the introduction for the new edition of Tales, a book which had great impact on his life..."? (We could quote in his intro where he says that.) I don't know, what do you think? -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 04:44, 9 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

@2ReinreB2: I added the introduction after coming across something like it in JK Rowling's page (Publications section). I'm pretty sure that he's also intro'ed for Demigods and Monsters. I think that we should include the introductions and other works that he's written in his page, because some of them are notable and could also bring up the overall level of the page. I don't think reviews should be included, because those are way too numerous to record, not to mention find. To summarize I think we should include forewords/introductions and/or news articles, etc, but not reviews. Zussman1 (talk) 06:18, 9 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
OK, seems fair to me. I do think we should provide a short description of the Tales one, just because it's so important. Otherwise, I agree completely. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 06:21, 9 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
2ReinreB2, great, I have a copy on hand. I can add it right now. Zussman1 (talk) 06:23, 9 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes 2 edit

Hey there, Zussman1. I noticed you've been working on your draft more recently, so I tried to help out a little. But I'm leaving this message because I think we need to decide soon what to do about the chapter summaries. As they are, I think an AFC reviewer would say they're too long, but I don't know what's worth keeping. I'm inclined to trim each one to almost barebones character list, maybe touch on what Percy Jackson identifies as each hero's fatal flaw. But saying "Hercules Does 12 Stupid things" is about Hercules, who has anger issues -- I don't know if a description that short is at all useful.

For now, I'll keep trying to put summaries up there, but at some point they're going to have to be shortened. It's your call what you wan to do, just let me know when you decide, so I can do all the new summaries that way. Thanks, and happy editing! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 22:45, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@2ReinreB2, I agree that some of the summaries are too long. I think that cutting it down to what you described is slightly excessive. I think we could cut down some of the descriptions a little, but getting them down to a manageable length could be problematic, as each chapter contains a lot of information/plot. Maybe we could describe the main deeds done in each chapter along with the unique spin put on it (i.e. Perseus giving each god a hug) and link to the main page about each hero. That seems as if it could solve both the length and information problems. Thank you so much for all the work you've done on this! I really appreciate it! Zussman1 (talk) 21:35, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I like your idea about linking to the heroes' pages -- could we put a see also/main page link there, maybe? The big issue I see is that chapter summaries for books are really rarely done, and are never longer than one paragraph. Usually WP:NV shoots for a mere three sentances. Go ahead and do a section the way you think is best, factoring in all that, and I'll give you my feedback and/or copy for the rest of the sections. Happy editing (fixed the typos). - 2ReinreB2 (talk) 18:08, 8 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Draft:The Sword of Summer edit

Hey there, Zussman1. I just wanted to let you know that your old draft on The Sword of Summer is essentially ready to be submitted for AFC review. This needs to be done ASAP, as The Sword of Summer (novel) was already created by someone without knowledge of Wikipedia policies or the existence of the redirect The Sword of Summer. If you don't feel like shepherding the draft through AFC, you can ask another RRTF member to handle it, OR you can simply start pasting text over to The Sword of Summer (novel). If you choose the second option, make sure you respect the contributions of that page's previous authors; don't just delete their work in favor of ours.

This has become really important with the publication of the next Magnus book. Fandalism of our pages is up (again) and we need to start working on a draft for the second book soon, or we'll be back in the same position we've been with The Sword of Summer. I'm not trying to rush or bother you, but it's your draft and I'd prefer to have the go-ahead before we do anything with it. Happy editing, and thanks for reading. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 01:21, 18 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

@2ReinreB2: I'm so sorry I haven't been working on this. I've been extremely busy lately. I'm giving you (or any other member) permission to do whatever you see fit with both drafts of mine (Sword of Summer and PJ's Greek Heroes). I doubt I'll be able to work on either of them in the next few months. Zussman1 (talk) 01:52, 18 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
No big deal, Zussman1. I appreciate your getting back to me, and I wish you luck with whatever you're up to. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 01:00, 19 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Okay, The Sword of Summer is now effectively merged with the draft. This means Draft:The Sword of Summer is no longer needed. If you would like to have it deleted, that is your prerogative. Happy editing! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 23:53, 22 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2018 election voter message edit

Hello, Zussman1. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
