Thank you

I just like to say thank you for your imput on MSW talk page, which has been very helpful. But its becoming clear that certain users are making up things are there go along in relation to make improvements to said page. I just can't see the point in trying again and again etc to get this page improved if I'm only going to get stupid replys why changes can't be done. It really should just be deleted. --Crazyseiko (talk) 18:29, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi @Crazyseiko: I am not ready to give up on the article. I think there are a lot of great editors who just want what is best for it. I don't agree with the assessment that some editors want things to stay the same. I think the disagreement is in how much information should be included and how it should be formatted. I understand if you want to take some time away from the article but I also encourage you to keep making constructive comments and giving constructive opinions to help this article move forward. Let me know if you need anything else. Z1720 (talk) 22:10, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Canada's Worst Driver 14

Hello!

Unfortunately, CWD14 has not aired yet, and the fact that Wikipedia is NOT a Crystal Ball, makes CWD14 NOT notable as of yet.

Please wait until this season becomes notable BEFORE releasing the episode.

I have hidden the code and turned the Canada's Worst Driver 14 page to a RE-DIRECT for now. If you need access, see the UNREDIRECTED LINK. Thanks!

Ways to improve Canada's Worst Driver 14

Thanks for creating Canada's Worst Driver 14.

A New Page Patroller Rosguill just tagged the page as having some issues to fix, and wrote this note for you:

This article should include more citations to independent, reliable, WP:SECONDARY sources to establish its notability. Additionally, it should include more content about the season's production and reception, and not just plot summaries.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can reply over here and ping me. Or, for broader editing help, you can talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

FYI and thank you

Thank you for thought-provoking and well-reasoned comments on the Just Peck AfD. I've discussed that AfD along with a couple of others in an essay I've just posted here. I've quoted a few lines from your AfD comment in the essay, because I thought they were well-written and expressed an important perspective. I deliberately didn't mention your username as I didn't know if you'd want me to, but if you do I'll be glad to add it. In any case, I'd welcome any comments you might have, on the essay talkpage. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 01:38, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

@Newyorkbrad: Hi NYB Thank you for your message. I was worried my comment would be too long for anyone to read! I skimmed through the essay, but I'm excited to read it tomorrow when I can give a closer analysis and ponder on it. Also, yes I give permission to have my quote attributed to my username. Hopefully, we continue having these conversations to strengthen the project. Z1720 (talk) 03:48, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Nomination for deletion Alexsander_Iakobachvili article

Thank you for the additions and references for the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexsander_Iakobachvili. But I can’t agree with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Scope_creep for Nomination for deletion of the page. First of all, I did some changes to the article, secondary – the main reason for deletion is that Iakobachvili is not a notable businessman – it’s true, but the uniqueness of his bio is that he was a gifted scientist, the first real Georgian candidate in the cosmonauts, and only the disintegration of the USSR broke down these plans. Despite this career failure Dr Iakobachvili didn’t give up and started a successful business career even if other country – United Kingdom. I will do my best to improve the article Dr. Teimuraz Kancheli 20:45, 2 September 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Temur (talkcontribs)

@Temur: Hi Temur, I didn't vote in this discussion, nor have I developed an opinion on whether it should be kept or deleted. If you think the article should be kept, I suggest going to its AfD discussion and list sources that prove the person is WP:Notable. If your arguments are persuasive, it will convince others to also say it should be kept. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions. Z1720 (talk) 22:24, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Questions related to article edits

Hi, thank you for your help with the M. David Rudd article. I'm a new user and very overwhelmed with the process. Before starting, I did a very comprehensive review of other university presidents to make sure this article was in line with others. The information provided was very relevant to the work he has done and accomplishments, both in his personal research and professional career. Other articles I modeled after included:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Gutmann https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregory_L._Fenves https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirley_Ann_Jackson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_L._Hennessy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_McRobbie

The last edit I made on 11/24 was more paired down than the initial article and removed some information that wasn't of importance. The information added back was relevant though. Is there someway to find a middle ground to include some of it, seeing as how it is similar to other articles and does showcase his accomplishments? There is a wide mix of sources as well. If there are any particular sources you're concerned about I'm sure I can find the information in a different place. Much of it was on other news sources, but many are behind a login so I thought the initial release would be better. I appreciate any help you can offer! Hrowsey (talk) 22:43, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi @Hrowsey:, thanks for bringing your concerns to my talk page. I looked at the articles linked above and those articles do not reflect Wikipedia's best work. If I edited them I would remove lots of information for being promotional, too much detail or off-topic. Wikipedia's best work can be found at WP:FA. Although I could not find a featured article about a current university president, there are lots of biographies to read and get a sense of Wikipedia's best work (your edits don't have to be as good as theirs, but it's a great goal to aspire to.) You can also read MOS:BIO for our style guide for biographies.
As for the prose I removed from M. David Rudd, it was removed for one or more of the following reasons:
  1. It was promotional, which means it was not a neutral point of view, the achievements were not notable and/or the achievements were putting WP:UNDUE weight on his positive works.
  2. They were achievements of the university and the sources did not verify that Rudd was personally responsible. In other words, sources should prove that if Rudd was not the president these things would not have happened at the university. These achievements, if notable, are better placed in the university's article.
  3. They were unsourced. As this is a biography of a living person, we are extra strict on the information we add to the article. If the info is not verified by a source, it is deleted (this is especially true for prose about his family life.)
  4. The prose used a WP:PRIMARY source to verify the information. Although this is not expressively banned, a secondary source will document notable achievements. The university praising Rudd's work is not neutral and thus we are not likely to add it unless a secondary source also documents it.
I always make mistakes, and other editors might disagree with what I removed. If you think I removed anything that should be in the article please make another edit request and post it on the talk page. Instructions can be found at Template:Request edit/Instructions. I also suggest that this conversation be continued on Rudd's talk page so that other editors can see our conversation. If you have any other questions, please ask on the Rudd article or post them below. Happy editing! Z1720 (talk) 19:36, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

Logo of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev

Hi Z1720, thanks for updating the logo. However, someone has changed it back to the old logo... Can you help?--Adig-pt (talk) 10:26, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

@Z1720: Thanks! This is strange, as I was paid by the university itself to update its logo... Adig-pt (talk) 15:15, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Question about declined edit request of page

Hi Z1720,

Thank you for your quick response regarding the Belkin company history factual information edit request. I and other users do not hit a paywall when visiting the LA Business Journal article citation currently cited and used on Wikipedia for establishing the founder information. Could you try visiting the page in an incognito window? This LA Business Journal article in fact does not list Steve Bellow as a founder in any way - nor are there any highly credible news / PR articles that list him as a founder either.

I've uploaded screenshots of the LA Business Journal article as well as a copy of the public notice of the official corporation filing back in 1983 that was printed in the Daily Breeze which can be found here: (Redacted)

Additional citations establishing Chet Pipkin as the only founder and not listing Steve Bellow in that capacity can be found here:
- https://www.forbes.com/sites/luisakroll/2013/01/25/chet-pipkin-the-wealthiest-tech-entrepreneur-youve-never-heard-of/?sh=57924eba61fb

- Note: Steve Bellow lists himself as a part of Belkin since 'near inception' on his own professional history outline on his Company's website, and not as a founder, found here: http://www.thebellowgroup.com/team.html

Let me know what ways we can best remedy this situation, as the information that Steve Bellow is a founder is in fact unfactual. 208.185.216.4 (talk) 18:45, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Question About Recent Edits Made

Hi Z1720,

I hope you are doing well. I wanted to inquire about the possibility of reinstating some of the content that was recently removed/edited from the Ray Jefferson article. I understand your position about consolidating content and citations for accuracy, but was wondering if the content that was in place could be reinstated with the following changes:

1. New citations (as requested) 2. Updating any items that seem biased towards the subject of the article so the tone better fits the standards of Wikipedia

I'm happy to help in this process and appreciate your time.

Thank you.Tsmith47 (talk) 15:07, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi @Tsmith47:, thanks for posting on my talk page. Some information may be put back if there are reliable sources to verify the information. Other information was removed because it was not notable (like the sentence that his work was covered by Forbes) or it put undue weight on aspects of his life (like the amount of detail in the investigation into his time in the Department of Labor). I suggest using the request edit template to suggest prose to be added or changed. Please post below if you have any questions. Z1720 (talk) 15:48, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
I was thinking that may be the reason why the content was heavily edited. I'm happy to provide revisions with more suitable citations on the talk page of his article. Thank you for sharing this information with me.Tsmith47 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 14:33, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Could you please be more careful...

A robot gave me a heads-up about this edit.

If you look at the diff it is unclear what exactly you changed, because your edit is so extensive. Multiple whole paragraphs are moved, and the diff engine can't recognize whether you cut and paste them, or whether you made changes to the blocks of text you moved.

In future, please don't make huge edits like this, which will confuse the diff engine. Instead, make a series of smaller edits.

Thanks. Geo Swan (talk) 10:12, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi @Geo Swan: thanks for your comments. I am very sorry but I'm struggling to understand the concern. I see that the edit diff has large blocks of text, but I think that's because I added headings, not because I moved paragraphs. Although it looks like a lot of change, I think the diff machine is not built to understand the addition of headings and so marks large blocks of text. I also moved some paragraphs because they were not in chronological order. It is difficult to do these edits in small batches when the timeline is all over the place. I don't like making small changes because it makes it harder for editors to undo my work if they have to press undo on 5-7 edits. I also don't know of any guidelines or essays that address this concern, but if you do please post them below so I can review them and improve my editing. Although a robot struggled to understand, I hope editors will be able to understand the edits more effectively.
In the future, I will try to separate my "formatting" and "adding text" edits to make them easier to understand. Let me know if you have any concerns or questions. Z1720 (talk) 16:03, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
