Hi neighbor!

Just wanted to drop in for a neighborly visit. I created a new article Waterfalls of Ukraine and no one seems to care, maybe you'd like to visit it and enjoy the fresh water and the sound of spring. :) Also, I posted a request on the Portal of Ukraine page, and no one seems to be active there either – I would like to create a navigation template for all the cultures that have been incorporated into modern day Ukraine. Congratulations on your new name, I hope you're not having an identity crisis, lol! I'm not suggesting you should create the template, I'm simply looking for suggestion on how to structure it and what information to include. List of medieval Slavic tribes and List of early East Slavic states cover the Slavic population, but there are so many others that are not Slavic that don't have a category. I would like to combine all of them into a template from the stone age until modern time. That's fairly simple (I think). The part I'm not sure about is what geographical area this should cover. Europe and Asia? How would you define the boundaries? Is there a historical or cultural expert that would have an "official" recommendation? I would think the CIS and the surrounding areas, but I'm not sure which surrounding areas, because they include parts of Europe, parts of Asia, parts of North Africa, and parts of the Middle East.

Are you interested in this topic? I know it's totally outside your interest of modern day Ukraine. Is there an active group with expertise in the area? I think this template is very important to develop and I'm willing to put in the time, because it's unbelievable how rich Ukrainian culture is when it comes to diversity and historical impact. And the template itself would be useful for all the countries involved, not just Ukraine. Martyrs

I see that you admire Óscar Romero. I have no doubt that he was a good and brave man who stood up for his beliefs. Even though he was martyred for his political beliefs, the Roman Catholic Church plans to make him a saint.

But to my way of thinking it would have been more appropriate for the Church to make the Christian martyr Raynald de Châtillon into a saint. de Châtillon was a warrior for Christ who was murdered whilst a prisoner of war. Right on the money! A head of a state administration it is pretty much the governor of a region. It is what was in the Soviet times the executive committee of the region, colloquially as ispolkom. The legislative branch would be a regional council. Also each city of regional and district subordination elects its mayor, that is like a president, in my association. I have not found an article to support these assumptions, but there is sort of an explanation at the Ukrainian Wikipedia on a local government with a reference to the Small Encyclopedia of Ukraine, I think. I have intentions to improve the articles on the government cabinets such as to add the process of the appointment as I did for the Second governments of Tymoshenko and Yanukovych. What strikes the most is the Yanukovych's speech when he was dismissed from his post. I have not found an article in a press media about it. It was very random that I read the verbatim of the Verkhovna Rada session when Tymoshenko presented her new cabinet. I think those articles could use additional "tune-ups" such as summaries or analyses from good sources, articles of political experts on the subject. There is plenty of information about whatever the crisis there was in 2006, which, in my opinion, carry no real grounds, comparing to the current situation, for example. Also there is little information about the situation in Crimea of the 90s and the Sieverodonetsk's incident is not fully disclosed. The ongoing "monument war" is also worth mentioning as it is partially connected with the Anti-Tabachnyk campaign, for example. Whenever I will have more time I try to add more information on ministries of the government and maybe explain how everything comes together. Taskforce

Hi, Yulia! Compliments on the new name :) To answer your question, no, you don't need an admin to set up a taskforce, although, depending on how developed the end result should be, you may run into some tasks which require admin intervention—for WP:RUSSIA such a task was updating the assessment banner, which is protected and can only be edited by an admin. Other than that, the decision on whether to establish a taskforce and how many is the matter that's made solely by the participants of the WikiProject under which the taskforces are being created. So, putting up a note on WT:UKRAINE stating that such and such editors are going to establish such and such taskforce for a few days is pretty much all there is to the formalities. There are some recommendations as to when establishing a taskforce is generally not beneficial, but in the end it is always the WikiProject's participants decision. I hope this answers your question. Very interesting... On the other subject, recently I created an article about the March 9, 2001 civil unrest (UbK March Unrest) connected with the Ukraine without Kuchma (UbK) movement. In my opinion that is a culmination point and one of the most important ones. Its precedent seems to be widely used by Aleksandr Lukashenko in a fight with opposition. There is a very good video footage was provided by the Ukrainian Pravda on March 9, 2011 on the developments of that day as well as plenty of other information related to the incident. I think it is just best to use the trial and error method on wikipedia... Mistakes get soon corrected here. Google books is an handy research tool. I think it is best to start/work on wikipedia articles in fields that interest you most. That way you can expand your own knowledge and share your new insights with other editors, that is what I do at least. Also not getting mad when other editors do something that looks wrong is a good idea; most of the time editors intentions are good (I have found out (the hard way)). Accidentally read an article "Reforms for the Future!" This article have errors:
1) "After the cancilation of the Imperative Mandate on October 1, 2010 it be" - abolished not "imperative mandate" ("imperative mandate" was not in the Constitution!), but abolished the Constitution-2004!

And abolished "by the decision of the Constitutional Court" (The Constitutional Court had no rights to annul the Constitution, but can only interpret the Constitution). Yanukovych usurped power. Yanukovych grossly trampled upon the Constitution; and his power has become an anti-constitutional!!

May be to write : "The Constitutional Court abolished of the Constitution-2004. But it's not stipulated by the Constitution of Ukraine. "The free press and the opposition" named this actions as "anti-constitutional coup and the usurpation of power".

2) It must be emphasized that in a fraction of the "Reforms for the Future" gathered the MPs have been excluded from BYuT and "Our Ukraine". It must be emphasized that "Yulia Tymoshenko and members of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc" - have been repeated claims that members of the fraction "Reforms for the Future" — are "politically corrupt" and simply sell their votes (Yulia Tymoshenko: These MPs are sold each — for three million dollars).

1) "The cancel of the current Constitution (2004-2010)" is the fact. And abolished the Constitution - the Constitutional Court. It's not "opinion", but "reliable fact" - because the Constitution (Constitution-1996, Constitution-2004) describes the "way of changing the Constitution", but is not allowed to change the Constitution "through Constitutional Court". This is undoubtedly. Tymoshenko (which you support) - also says about it. "Cancel Constitution-2004" is terrible for Ukraine.

2) The deputies of the faction "Reforms for the Future" — are "traitors of their constituents"; because they were elected from the "Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc", and withdrew from the "Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc" (against the Constitution) and the support of "the anti-Ukrainian Yanukovych". Thank you for welcoming me.. But I afraid my contibution to English Wikipedia will be small. Because it is the most developed Wikipedia). The most of my contibutions I concentrate on Ukrainian Wikipedia. And I've created article about incarceration in Ukraine for interwiki for Ukrainian article. To be honest I'd like to create Ukraine-related articles especially concerning law, but.. it is very difficult because of specificity of terminology. Direct translation from, for example, Lingvo helps little. This is hardier also because of common law that English countries use. Editing articles "Tymoshenko"

Dear Maria-Yulia, last week (24.5.2011) was the arrest Tymoshenko, but after 7 hours she was released — thanks to the efforts of "the ambassadors of G7" (U.S., Germany, EU), European People's Party, chairman of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, and the Ukrainian people — see "Yulia Tymoshenko. My arrest. May 26, 2011."

Therefore, the right — to put information about "her great-grandfather Grigan" (who served 10 years in the Stalin's conc. camps) - to the article "Tymoshenko" (to show that in the Ukraine - could be imprisoned for no reason.). There is a policy WP:CITECLUTTER against having 5-15 footnote marks against a single point. There are two solutions - either you need to have less citations, or to have portmanteau citations. Because I believe that the number and range of citations that you are finding adds value, I have edited your citations to make them into portmanteau citations. It would be helpful if you did this as you added them. Otherwise, there is a danger than some well-meaning officious person will delete a random selection of citations quoting the policy I mentioned.--Toddy1 (talk) 10:36, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Corruption Perception Index

Please note all the hedging phrases about the Corruption Perception Index. It is measured different ways different years. Please also note that there is a great deal of uncertainty about the scores for Ukraine (see the table in the article).

One thing that might be of value is to express Ukraine's position, in terms of a percentage of those countries that TPI did a successful evaluation (3 surveys of more). The most corrupt nation successfully evaluated would have a % ranking of 100%.

As you can see Ukraine's % ranking has varied from 91% in 2001, to 61% in 2006. If you like you can tell a story round it. The story might be something like this:

Before the Orange Revolution, Ukraine was very corrupt (average % ranking 1998-2004 = 82%). People had great hopes when Yushchenko became president, but the % ranking gradually reverted to 81% by the end of his presidency, because things did not get better. The current president is taking action, and maybe this will have some effect.

An alternative story is that all the variation is just random, or caused by differences in how the evaluations are done, and trying to draw conclusions over time is a waste of time. --Toddy1 (talk) 19:58, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Please moderate your comments

Yulia , please moderate your comments when dealing with others. I understand your frustration with Lvivske's edits about Mila Kunis etc, but making remarks like these[1][2] is inappropriate. This user has a history of editing the Yulia Tymoshenko in a way that seems biased (to me)... For instance in this edits he more then doubles the number of demonstrators for her case without providing any new reference to back up the claim. How to find out if someone is biased when we may not speculate on motives? We are not living in a world where everybody is neutral.... About the article "Tymoshenko"

Hi, Yulia Romero. You are returned to the article "black PR against Tymoshenko". In reality "The Kyoto money" Tymoshenko transferred to the Pension Fund of Ukraine. And it's not "abuse" as you say in the article. Audit firms «Covington & Burling» and "BDO USA" carried out an inspection and concluded:

Two firms retained by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to examine the charges of abuse of power and improper use of budgetary funds brought against her by the Ukrainian government have said there is no factual basis for the accusations.

The law firm, Covington and Burling LLP, and the accounting company, BDO USA, also presented their analysis of a report conducted by two other U.S. firms that serves as the basis for the Ukrainian government's charges against Tymoshenko. This report, by the two U.S. law firms Trout Cacheris and Akin Gump, is not "worth the paper it is written on," according to Bruce Baird, a partner at Covington and Burling.

Trout Cacheris and Akin Gump presented a report in October 2010, which was solicited and paid for by the Ukrainian government, in which they claimed that Tymoshenko improperly handled revenues received in 2009 from the exchange of carbon emission credits under the Kyoto Protocol.

Dear Vles; All your edits in the article have shown that you are not interested in informing readers about Ms. Tymoshenko but that you are only interested in promoting her and wikipedia is not a tool for promoting people. If you would be interesting in informing about Tymoshenko you would also be interesting in adding info like Yushchenko testified against old Orange ally Tymoshenko. Please stay away of Wikipedia if you are only interested in whitewashing people...

Wikipedia should not be stuffed with details in my opinion but should readers give a short biography that is easy to read (wikipedia articles should not became +300 page bookes). Stuffing articles full of details about reports of US-firms or other details about court cases (like Yushchenko's testimony) is in my view not necessary. Furthermore I strongly have the idea that the reports where ordered by Tymoshenko herself and are therefore no reliable source. but it does not matter since the info does not belong in Wikipedia.

In no way the current Yulia Tymoshenko English Wikipedia article could be seen as "Black PR".... It is stated she is accused of illegal actions; no where in the article this is judged. You seem to mistake neutrality towards a subject with "anything that is not promotional is negative information". I personally like Yulyu and that is way I want to give her a good wikipedia article; not a laughable promotion page that does not mention anything vaguely negative about her.

Не дивно, що Ющенко проти Тимошенко. Адже Тимошенко - зруйнувала "корупційну кормушку Ющенка - РосУкрЕнерго", а також Ющенко-Фірташ-Ахметов-Янукович у квітні-2007 віддали собі на 50 років в оренду "весь шельф Чорного моря" - а Тимошенко забрала цей ласий шматок, і повернула шельф державі. Тому корупціонер Ющенко - проти Тимошенко. Що тут нового; Ви про це не чули? Дивно, що Ви робите посилання на "свідчення Ющенка" — Ющенко сам злодій. А ось Тимошенко навіть "генпрокуратура Януковича" не звинувачує в крадіжці (або присвоєння коштів). Ющенко вже давно (з 2006-2007 років) - такий же ворог Тимошенко, як і Янукович.

У Вас дуже застарілі знання про ситуацію в Україні. Ющенко сьогодні в Україні трактується як "політичний карлик з рейтингом 1%", і як політик, який густо забруднений "корупцією в рамках РосУкрЕнерго і бізнесмена Фірташа". Тимошенко-БЮТ (травень 2011) подали на Фірташа-РосУкрЕнерго в суд Нью-Йорка - і коли справа дійде до суду, то там спливе і "корупційна справа Ющенка". Так що про Ющенка забудьте - цей політик сприймається в Україні як "зразок зради та корупції", тому і рейтинг у нього 1% (а навесні 2005 рейтинг Ющенка був 65%).

Тепер про "зловживання Тимошенко". Для Вас, напевно, буде відкриттям, що навіть генпрокуратура України не звинувачує Тимошенко в "привласненні або розкраданні коштів". Ні на одну копійку Тимошенко не звинувачена в "привласненні або крадіжці коштів" - по всіх відкритим справах! А у Вікіпедіі-анг написано, що Тимошенко "зловживала на 425 млн. дол." — Цю фразу більшість читачів розуміє як "розкрадання, крадіжки, корупція". А насправді — генпрокуратура звинувачує Тимошенко в "перерахування цих 425 млн. дол. до Пенсійного Фонду України". Тобто в Вікіпедії-англ з цього питання — брехня і чорний піар. Сподіваюся, Ви це визнаєте.

Крім того, дуже важливо, що в "газовому суді" - суддя не взяв до уваги матеріалів "Ернст енд Янг" (ця аудиторська фірма щорічно перевіряє Нафтогаз, для того, щоб іноземні партнери - мали правильне уявлення про стан справ у Нафтогазі); і там ясно сказано, що ніяких збитків у Нафтогазу-2009 не було.

І так далі. А стаття про "суд над Тимошенко" (у Вікіпедії-англ) - це навіть не "позиція генпрокуратури Януковича", а набагато більш брудний "збірник чорного піару". Точніше будьте у фактах - і Ви відразу перейдете на мою сторону.

Політики Євросоюзу говорять, що "Україна це найбільш олігархічна держава Європи". Дійсно, "олігархи Україна" вельми багаті, а народ бідний — тому олігархи часто купують "будь-якого політика України" (Ющенко, В'ячеслав Кириленко, Анатолій Гриценко, Яценюк, Тягнибок), крім Тимошенко. Тому вони і намагаються "необгрунтовано судити Тимошенко" — і це не моя думка, а думка постанов Євросоюзу, всього світу. А Ваша думка — як у Ющенка і Януковича, але вони за 2004-2011 роки замішані у привласненні-крадіжці величезних коштів: Криворіжсталь (прем'єр-міністр Янукович вкрав на 4 млрд. дол.); РосУкрЕнерго (вкрадено на 4 млрд. дол), "шельф Чорного моря" (шельф був вкрадений Ющенком-Фірташем та Януковичем-Ахметовим, а шельф коштує сотні млрд. дол.).
