Crawley Open House moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Crawley Open House, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Promotion must be avoided. Thus, I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Hi, thanks for message. I looked at your earlier edits as well as the deleted version to see if there was anything salvageable there, but not so. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation, press releases, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the organisation claims or interviewing its management. There was only one references, but it was not in-line so we can't tell what fact it was supporting, and the link was in any case dead. It was a link to the hospice's own web site anyway, so not an acceptable independent third-party source. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • There was no evidence to support notability anyway, just some unreferenced history. To show notability you need hard verifiable facts such as the number of employees, funding or expenditure, and verification for the claimed number of patients and any grants.
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: dedicated to providing specialised end of life care... to meet the needs of the local community... A key service.
  • the article was largely a copyright violation of the hospice's web site. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. The hospice pages are marked © Copyright 2000-2017, All Rights Reserved and are therefore not available for free distribution and modification for any purpose, including commercial, as we require here. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • If you have a conflict of interest when editing this article, you must declare it. In particular, if you work directly or indirectly for the hospice, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, please let me know as you will then have to make a formal declaration.

The tone of the article was not awful and could have easily been fixed, but the copyright violation sank it. There is nothing to stop you trying again, preferably as a draft, but before doing so you should make sure that you can find independent references as described above, and satisfy yourself that the hospice meets our notability criteria. If it doesn't, or you can't find good references, you may be wasting your time. You should also let me know if you have a conflict of interest. If you have any questions or if you want me to comment on a draft, let me know Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:14, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Charities based in Crawley edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Charities based in Crawley requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Crawley and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Portal:Crawley during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion.
