I reverted your edit to the order of the Palms. I added a statement and a cite in the Palms section as to why they are in a seemingly wrong order. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 01:51, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry about that I thought I had caught something wrong and didn't want to let it be. Once again I'm sorry (I'm just a noob and still learning all this stuff).

No problem- that's why I let you know. We were all noobs once. And it is not apparent as to the logic on the order- that's why the article needed an explanation. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 02:06, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Esperanza! (12-10-06) edit

Welcome, Why1991, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. You can support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact our administrator general Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Picture Image-Coding(11-21-06) edit

What I did was actually make it so the text aligned itself under it. If you click on the image itself you get the image page. However, another way to do so is... bah, the template, {{Click}}, can allow you to have images link to the page. Click the "Click" in {{}} for more information. If you're only browser is Safari then it won't work. Here's an example:

{{Click|link=User:Why1991|image=Darknesslord.png|width=100|height=100|title=This link leads to Why1991's page}} produces...

Image deleted per fair use policy.

Categories (12-9-06) edit

This is User:Why1991 and i'm posting this refering to Wikipedians who think this is not a laughing matter and Wikipedians who don't think forever's fun. I was the creator of both of those and was going to say sorry about that. I was really tired when making those user boxes and just made them into categories also when I shouldn't have. You don't need to put up for debate for deletion and I give you permission to delete them. Once again sorry about that.--Why1991 02:46, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

No reason whatsoever for an apology : ) - We're just in the process of cleaning up the Wikipedian categories. Also, in the future you may wish to leave your comments on a person's talk/discussion page, rather than their userpage : ) - jc37 19:21, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Answers. (12-11-06) edit

Hi Why, and thanks for asking me questions. I'll begin with the edit question: http://tools.wikimedia.de/~interiot/cgi-bin/Tool1/wannabe_kate. Click on that link, and it will take you to the most widly used edit counter. Just type in a username, and it'll give you all the information you need. The header question I'm not sure; just keep an eye out for anyone who has it that way (I will too), and then check how they did it. In the mean time, you might want to make it look better; try adding <br><div style="align: center; width: 97%; padding: 1em; border: solid 5px black; background-color: Beige;"> '''<font color="black"> above something, and then ''.</font>''</div><br> below it. This will produce a box, like the ones I have on my page. All you have to do then is choose a color from here, add it instead of beige, and choose how wide you want the box to be (by changing the width: xx% percent. Good luck, and if you need more help just come knocking. :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 12:50, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Quote (12-13-06) edit

Hi, Why1991—I noticed you were asking about format things, so I thought I'd tell you about quoteboxes. As an example, this is how your Quote of the Day (nice feature on your user page!) can look in a quotebox:

Dreams are the touchstones of our character.

Henry David Thoreau

When you look inside, you'll see how left/center/right page placement and box width can be customised. Athænara 19:43, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spinning cirlce of wonder (12-16-06) edit

Hey there and welcome to Wikipedia! It seems that you must be having a nice time here already by the looks of your signature, user page, esperanza membership, and talk page. To see what the code is, just click on edit, and look for what looks like it would be. Generally, we like to keep everything in order, from the top to the bottom. That's the thing at the very top that you wanted to look at, so look at the thing at the very top that could be it! You can see it says:

Reasons for Quitting (12-16-06) edit

This is the "Wikipedia" reason I'm quitting. These fair use laws (even though I don't live in Florida), these complaints, these WP:____ which I haven't even heard about, these facts they've reverted even though they know it's true but it's unsourced even though there isn't any source of it yet on the internet). My immediate "BOO"s on my self-RfA really helped my stress now.
Now the real world. You see, the person behind Simply MP had been invading my privacy making fun of my userpage, and that was a little takedown. My mother has anger issues, my sister is a demon, my school has cruel teachers and even crueler bullies, etc. etc. etc.
Good friends, I say goodbye. I might still come back to chat, or edit my fav pages, but the number-two (can't forget Jimbo ;) ) user is not gonna do anything spectacular anymore.
Why1991, I appreciated your mini-campaign to keep me here, and I'll always remember you in my top 6. ;)

RE:Okay (12-20-06) edit

Well, good luck getting those points then! Make sure you don't get editcountitis with the break though, it's awful. The only bit I'll be editing is early in the morning (5:00-7:00), and late in the afternoon (4:00-7:00), because real life threw something time-consuming at them. I feel bad when I don't edit or check my watchlist for more than 3 hours, so this is terrible. :-( As for your question about the mighty signature books, add all those which say "other places to sign" to your watchlist (or just mine, I'll do the work for you :). That way, whenever someone finds another, you add it to the monopoly. :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 10:41, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

You have the same problem as your friend. You both add "</font>''</div><br>" where it isn't necessary. If you want the box to continue all the way, don't add it. Look at my autograph book for an example. In order for other people not to get confused, I didn't add it, and it continues all the way to the bottom. Only sometimes it is needed; example (preview how it would be without it): http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:AndonicO/Userpage&action=submit. Hope that helps. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 10:47, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, what you have to do is create a page entitled User:Why1991/Menu. Then, you may copy everything from my menu page up there, but change all the links like I said up there. Then once you save it, you can make it in a template (you know, with the {{ }}). For more help, if you need it, see User talk:The Transhumanist. He can help you with your userpage. He knows a lot! For example, he created the The User page design. It's very useful. Hope this helped! --Tohru HondaSign here! 00:52, 22 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why1991, you voted on the two images at the bottom that require more feedback, but did not indicate which version you prefer. For the Civil War camp picture and the Lewis Hine's mechanic, there are multiple versions of each. Edits or alternate versions were introduced late, and there is no clear consensus for which to promote. You may want to modify your comments accordingly. "I once bought my kids a set of batteries for Christmas with a note on it saying, toys not included."

"Mail your packages early so the post office can lose them in time for Christmas."

Merry Christmas Why1991! May your Christmas be either green and warm, or cold and white; whichever one you like! For me, today is a nice warm 3-degree day.

"Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall."

[1], [2]

"A man, his wife, and mother-in-law went on vacation to Jerusalem. While they were there the mother-in-law passed away. The undertaker told them, "You can have her shipped home for $5,000, or you can bury her here in the Holy Land for $150." The man thought about it and told him he would just have her shipped home. The undertaker asked, "Why would you spend $5,000 to ship your mother-in-law home, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and you would spend only $150." The man replied, "Long ago a man died here, was buried here, and three days later he rose from the dead. I just can't take that chance."

[3]

I wish you a merry Christmas, Why1991, and also a happy new year. Hope you enjoy 2007! --Bowlhover 17:14, 25 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

RE:Wikipedia (12-28-06) edit

Why am I so interested in starting and fueling arguments? While I understand how it might be seen like that, that's not my intent. Would you expect any capable debater to readily concede a point to his opponent? I've got to defend my position. As for doing something to improve Wikipedia, this, for now, is how I will help Wikipedia for the day. If you're interested in what I normally do, I often RC and NewPage patrol, I go to AFDs often, and I am, IMO, a leading Dragonlance contributor, though of course now I find myself cleaning up my own articles. The particular area of work I am in, Dragonlance, requires me to do read before I edit, and thus I find other ways to improve Wikipedia. Hope that helps you. RuneScape, eh? (12-29-06) edit

I see that you play RS. What are your stats and all that? Hope you have a great New Year - The RSJ Sign my autograph book 16:48, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

You're right about my interest fading. I've quit many times before, only to find myself starting to play again. Once I took a month-long...RuneScapeBreak...but they made some improvements to the game and I started playing again. Now I'm in an active stage, much like when I started playing RS, where I couldn't start playing. I had even more interest when I became a member, but I was a member for only six months, and when the membership expired, my interest falled a lot, and I quit for the first time. Sorry I had to give you my RuneScape life story :) The RSJ Sign my autograph book 01:06, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your Mystery Game (12-30-06) edit

It is adviseable for you to leave things as they are now because your article has already been added to the list of miscellany for deletion. At the very least, before the results of the MfD are out, you might want to print out that whole page and keep it as a memento, or otherwise save the format of the entire page in a text file. However, I recommend that you do not do anything to the article yet, just back it up should it be deleted. -- Altiris Exeunt 02:20, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

And then, you could disregard all that and archive it now, but then you'll face the consequences should they ever arise. The choice is yours. However, my recommendation is to leave things as they are but start backing up your article. If the admins allow you to keep the article, go ahead and archive it. Until then, keep a backup copy somewhere other than Wikipedia. You know what I mean. -- Altiris Exeunt 02:23, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

The last check of votes as at 02:57, 30 December 2006 (UTC) puts the score as 4 Keep votes above all Oppose votes. -- Altiris Exeunt 02:57, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Esperanza (12-30-06) edit

Hi Why! Yes, I do know about Esperanza, and that it has another MfD. Actually, I am a member, but I don't really participate much. The only thing I do is the calender, and I also signed up for admin coaching. Aside from that, I don't think Esperanza does a very good job of strenghtening the sense of community; I won't support it's deletion, but I won't oppose it either. Also, if you notice, the oldest, best, and most dedicated members are quitting, because it doesn't work the same as it used to. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 15:26, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and I'm sorry about your game too. It was fun, but I thought it would be deleted eventually. By the way, what's a "noob"? No one ever explains... I've asked about 3 times, and not just on Wikipedia. | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 15:30, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the definition. Now I know. :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 15:41, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

WP:FPC (12-31-06) edit

Just so you know, there are no rules against having an animated Featured Picture, and in fact they're quite common: Calipers, Pi unrolled, Walschaerts valve gear, 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake tsunami, Villarceau circles, Radial engine, Muybridge photos, 4 stroke engine, and Animated Zipper. There are many more in the Featured Picture gallery. —Vanderdeckenξφ 11:18, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
