Record reviews

edit

Hello, I see you have added some record review links to infoboxes in several album articles. There are a few things you may not be aware of:

  • Reviews are no longer included in infoboxes; you have found some articles that have not been converted yet. Soon the functionality will be removed from the infobox. A template exists for listing reviews, but it is now preferred that reviews and their significance be part of the article's prose. See WP:Albums#Reception for details. This is also explained in the instructions for using {{Infobox album}}.
  • There is also a list of review websites that should be used in Wikipedia articles, at WP:ALBUM/REVSIT.
  • You can find recent discussions about the list of review sites (including proposals to add or remove sites from the list) at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums.

Regarding your changes to Rock Bottom (album), it's not a good idea to re-order reviews from most positive, to least. Wikipedia editors are often accused of choosing positive reviews only, rather a balanced mix, to prop up the reputation of albums they like. Changing the order to put positive reviews at the top, could likely be seen as such a move. It would be preferable to restore the list to the order in which the sites were added.

Regarding your change to Third (Soft Machine album), I removed it because it was a link to a review from "Rolling Stone Album Guide", presubably a book, but posted at a UK website called rocklistmusic, which is not on the list of approved review sites. I don't know why an American publisher with its own website and a book for sale would choose to have the book's contents posted for free at a different site, and I was concerned there may be a copyright violation. If I'm completely off the mark, feel free to put it back, but you should make it clear in the description that it's not a link to a Rolling Stone website. --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 16:43, 12 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:Parable.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 03:04, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of EPs

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on EPs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 02:30, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

December 2010

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not replace pages with blank content, as you did with this edit to EPS (album), as this is confusing to readers. The page's content has been restored for now. If there is a problem with the page, it should be edited or reverted to a previous version if possible; if you think the page should be removed entirely, see further information. Thank you.   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:34, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:WyattEps.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:WyattEps.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:05, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Faust (band). Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article.   — Jeff G.  ツ 04:43, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Popolvuhgroup.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Popolvuhgroup.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 05:13, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
