Speedy deletion nomination of User:LMacPad/sandbox edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:LMacPad/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. March 2019 edit

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, If you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. Request reason:

Reason Hello wikipedians, i apologize in advance cause i haven`t read at all the username policy and i didn't even notice it. I assure that i had no intention of advertise or promotional content (that can be done in many blogs, social media networks and many other free pages which everyone knows). I use wikipedia for many years and i like it and respect it as an encyclopedia and it`s content as a trusted one. Since it was my first time i wanted to contribute by adding this article about a pioneer software which i believe it deserves to be inside an encyclopedia i started this account with the name of this software without reading the username policy and also trying to add something for the first time in wikipedia encyclopedia (so i guess some mistakes always will be at new members and not on purpose but just cause the are too many policies and fields of awareness in order to create something and needs some help or guidance while doing so). Now that i have read the username policy and i noticed that creating a new account will be much easier for technical or for any other reason than renaming one. I don`t have any problem recreating a new account and rewrite the article and also contribute at wikipedia in general cause i have many interests and i use it a lot as i mentioned before in any way i can, such as suggesting something in an article, found a misspelled word or orthography errors in articles and why not contribute in general. I have uploaded also two images for the article i was about to create so i am waiting for your reply or action about my mistaken username and if i have to recreate or use the same account from now on renamed. Thank you in advance for the help and guidance

Accept reason:

Okay, the rename has been processed. Since you have agreed to not directly edit about the software and use edit requests and Articles for Creation, I will remove the block. 331dot (talk) 19:54, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

What is, if any, your association with the software? 331dot (talk) 15:04, 31 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

LMacPad is not a company, is just a team of programmers and i am part of this non profit programmer`s team. I have the right to use content for this software and write about this software. I don`t see wikipedia as a blog, social media or any other type except as a worldwide encyclopedia and as i mention before i believe such unique software should be mentioned inside an encyclopedia (and not because i am somehow a part of the developers team) but from my point of view it is not a commercial or advertise or promotional act but an encyclopedic mention-article to a unique and pioneer software. No one is paying me for my effort on this and i am a user of wikipedia for many years and in many interests such as heath products, nature, energy, electronics, computer software and hardware, sports as well as many others. As first article i have chosen this software that i have the right and permission to write about it in wikipedia without having license or permission problems regarding my articles content.

Thank you for your honesty. Please read the conflict of interest policy; this applies whether or not you are paid cash money/other compensation or not. Please understand that Wikipedia is not a forum to merely tell the world about something useful. Wikipedia is only interested in what independent reliable sources state about article subjects, and has little to no interest in what the subject(or those associated with it) wants to say about itself. Frankly, if this software is written about in independent sources that have chosen on their own to write about it, you shouldn't be the one to write an article about it per the conflict of interest policy. In order for you to be successful, you would need to forget everything you know about your software and only write based on the content of independent sources. Most in your position find that difficult to do. Are there any other unrelated subjects you want to write about? 331dot (talk) 15:50, 31 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the guidance, i do understand what you mean with COI and none offense taken. I can also understand that a writer who is involved in the article`s content is a bit more influenced than an independent one who just wanted to write an article about a subject and is not evolved within it`s content. But i personally am open to fix any issues inside my article before going on public from wikipedia members and experts in order not to be mistaken or uses anything that may cause problems or false meanings by the inexperienced way of thinking of even a COI way of viewing and writing though my article is at least a very independent way of writing inside it without showing any influence on it`s content. I am open to suggestions and corrections to this article by experts and why not help improve it the way it should be. A reference such as https://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/Office-suites/LMacPad.shtml exists if needed too. As an independent review and opinion.

About the unrelated subjects question and sorry for the delay responding to, is that i am facing a problem creating an article which i have the rights and permissions about its content cause of COI and i am a bit confused how am i be able to write an article about anything else in which i don`t even have a permission to do so. In that case i will try to keep my contribution to wikipedia as to the minimum of correcting some sentences or correcting some orthography typical mistakes and such small contributions if that is ok ofcourse by wikipedia too.

You don't need permission from the subject to create an article about that subject. I guarantee you most people and organizations did not grant permission to have articles about them here. For example Donald Trump, Theresa May, and the Ford Motor Company almost certainly did not grant permission to have articles about themselves here. This is because Wikipedia is only interested in what independent reliable sources state about article subjects that meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability. It is true that a Wikipedia article is not necessarily desirable, but if a subject is covered in independent sources, it generally gets an article here, the subject has almost no say in it. However, creating articles is certainly not required, and it's fine if you just want to make minor edits. I would like to know if Bishonen has any concerns, but if you agree to not edit about your software or related subjects, I would consider unblocking. 331dot (talk) 08:20, 1 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sure, I'm fine with unblocking on those conditions. Bishonen | talk 08:47, 1 April 2019 (UTC).Reply

It is not my software but surely as inexperienced one while trying to write about it i considered using an account with its name without reading the username policy, that mistake which seems that create a huge negative impact for my intentions and effort appears to be a deadline for the first time users without knowledge on how wikipedia works. However since things went a bit of false start as first account on wikipedia and i use it a lot as a simple visitor in many occasions i would prefer to start all over with a new account for whenever it will be needed. I would like to delete this account and it`s content and also the two images i have upload cause there is no point to be in here since they would have been used for the article i was about to write. Maby my next account will have a better start :) and thank you for your time and help on the subject.

The block is on you personally, not the account. Making a new account is considered block evasion. Accounts cannot be deleted due to the structure of Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 15:39, 1 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
But, @331dot: you know the soft username block where we say "You may simply create a new account"? I've changed this block to such a soft block, where account creation is allowed. You may now simply forget about this unfortunate start, LMacPad. Don't worry about it and just create a new account. All right by you, 331? Bishonen | talk 15:55, 1 April 2019 (UTC).Reply
@Bishonen: This user stated it is not their software but further up the page they state they are on the programmers' team. Both cannot be true at the same time. I would want an agreement to avoid editing about the software; but I am content to leave it to you as the blocking admin and accept any decision you make. 331dot (talk) 17:23, 1 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, I see. I thought they were saying, or implying, they wouldn't edit about the LMacPad software any more. How about it, LMacPad? Do you agree not to edit about the LMacPad software? If you do agree, you may create a new account. Bishonen | talk 17:58, 1 April 2019 (UTC).Reply

So in a short i can`t write about LMacPad which i have a good knowledge around this topic but someone else can write cause i used LMacPad as a login name. It doesn`t seem fair enough to me though i would like to have an account in wikipedia for any case it may be needed in the future and ofcourse without this name but another account. For the sake of the article you can ask Liance (member) if my article was independent enough (excpet some resource which was needed) or read by your own the article before you claim COI just because of amateur act on username account. Whatever you decide to do is ok with me. Is your decision after all and my mistake, so as i said i got here in the wrong foot as it seems but seeing that personally i can`t write an article in which i created the account in the first place for, is like a useless try any after effort for me in here to move on.

I misunderstood you then. I'm afraid you will have to be unblocked before you can edit Wikipedia. Your unblock request is still active, so please don't create a new account, but wait for another uninvolved admin to assess your request. However, I don't believe anybody will be prepared to unblock unless you undertake to not edit about the LMacPad software or, possibly, undertake to only edit about it indirectly, by requesting article edits on talkpages. I understand your argument that you know about the software, and are thereby qualified to write about it, but Wikipedia takes conflicts of interest very seriously. Sorry, @331dot: I misread the situation. Bishonen | talk 20:57, 1 April 2019 (UTC).Reply

I am man of knowledge and of course my main concern is the article which i have also a backup if needed. If it wasn't for the username policy i would have been now in the talkpages or however this is called, getting help from others or the experts on correcting and checking my article before going public. That what it was saying after all in the page i was writing in the publish button. I don`t have problem also if someone else can take this article from his account and with me at talkpages to help him while editing it and go public from his account if there is no problem from anyone. If that's the case, i have no problem at all. No offense has taken and i have no problem on what is going to happen at my account, i really don`t mind. You follow policies and i don't know what's going on in here. If this article or subject doesn't deserve to be inside wikipedia then please don't waste your time and mine. If there is something that can be done though and this article with corrections and help can be inside wikipedia's encyclopedia then why are we waisting time so many days ?

To be clear, are you agreeing to avoid directly editing about LMacPad? (using edit requests on talk pages is acceptable). 331dot (talk) 16:53, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sure but how will this happen ? I will give the article ready to someone else since i can`t edit it and we fix it through talkpages all together ?

You may use Articles for Creation to submit your draft for review and feedback; if accepted, another user will post it. I tried renaming you, but your choice is too similar to existing usernames; you will need to choose something else. No need for another unblock request, simply edit your existing one. 331dot (talk) 18:37, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I can't find how to make a new name request without using the {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} It doesn`t matter. I will try use the Articles for Creation to submit the article.

( and ofcourse i made it again =) sorry about the empty request.
All you need to do is remove "Vasilis V." and put your new choice. If you wish, just tell your choice and I can do it. 331dot (talk) 19:20, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't let me edit anything in the blue request i made. Can i tell you here the name ?

You can tell me; if you want to try again, I removed "Vasilis V." and put "Remove this text". Once you open the edit window, replace "Remove this text" with your name. You can't do it when looking at the blue window when viewing this page, you must open the edit window, just as you do to write here. 331dot (talk) 19:33, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

It directs me to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Remove_This_Text User account "Remove This Text" is not registered. etc etc I have problem with the https frmo the time i logged in to wikipedia. It may be this too. The name i wanted is Vasileios V. or Vasilis V. which both are available.

Okay, you shouldn't click on it as a link. You should open this page's edit window. But that's okay, give me a moment. 331dot (talk) 19:47, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have submitted the rename request, but the system seems slow at the moment. 331dot (talk) 19:51, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Comment edit

I might recommend using the new user tutorial before you edit further, or read some of the introductory pages. That might help you on your Wikipedia efforts. 331dot (talk) 19:57, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your time 331dot :) and sorry for all this mess. I doesn`t matter when it will be activated. I am not in a hurry. One last thing. I can check my spellings and writings of the article or use directly as is the edit requests and Articles for Creation ?

If you are creating a draft(I think you said you have one saved yourself) you can edit it and fix it for as long as you want before submitting it for review. If you are making an edit request, I would recommend using the "show preview" feature to allow yourself to check for spelling errors before publishing/saving the request. 331dot (talk) 20:09, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

All fine. I don't think so i'll make another gag for the time being. But i do have a small problem. Wikipedia is not secure anymore at my browser and i can`t fix it. It is like this since i made the account, i think about 1 day after i made it before i get the block issue. Is there something to do about it ? I can`t even see the pictures and i searched a bit to solve it but i didn`t find anything yet.

I'm not entirely sure about that, I might try asking at the Help Desk. 331dot (talk) 20:54, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'll find my way. Thank you for the links and your time.
