yamunanagar history

Hi, I was going through the article "Yamunanagar" and noticed that you are one of the contributers. Could you please tell me about sources, especially the following line- "Yamuna Nagar was earlier known as 'Abdullahpur' which was later renamed by the city's eminent personality Lt Lala Kailash Chandra Ji after independence.". I would really like to authenticate the above fact and find documentation or any sort of proof of the same as Lala Kailash Chandra Ji was my great grandfather. I would be very grateful for any information on the subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aditia2z (talkcontribs) 08:41, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Joan Gale

The article Joan Gale has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Speedy deletion nomination of Joan Gale

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Joan Gale requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Spelling in file names

Hi, thanks for the work you are doing to improve Wikipedia! I noticed that this edit included a spelling correction within the name of an image file; as the file is still saved with the mis-spelled name, the edit broke the link to the file. It's a mistake that is easily done. I suggest that after you make multiple spelling corrections throughout an article, you review the page after saving to see if any image links have become red links. speciose

Re spotted handfish, this is a word, with the suffix -ose. "The family is the most species" makes no sense: "is the most speciose" (as used in the article) or "has the most species" should be used. —innotata 14:47, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Spelling drudgery(?) tribute

My first action was to see if there were other "similiar [sic]"s around. You'd cleaned up many or all. So I went to another of my periodic difficulties and in penance have corrected three: Long War, Army of and John Forrest. I hereby gift you the lot: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&profile=default&search=~desparate&fulltext=Search, along with another tangential find you most likely know well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonly_misspelled_words. Isn't there a way to computerize the chore (to use an archaic-feeling term; "bot it" I guess would be more contemporary)? Or some kind of auto-spell-correct that's pretty common in word processing, right? I expect maybe the cookie and the barnstars I glimpsed above are other tributes to this your (seemingly) arduous task. Thanks from me (too) to you for doing it. I'm the Jens Weidmann miscreant -- mine was a manual transcription error (but a too-regular crossed-wire with "familiar" in my spelling node) as was apparently the Florence Nightingale in JForrest (I checked the sources). You caught me two days after my misstep though I see you're not always so prompt; I don't have the patience to follow (this part of) your vocation though I admit I am a little curious to discover it. With humility, cheers, Swliv (talk) 01:40, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Referring to the dirty job...

Thank you EoGuy for correcting my “slips of the keyboard” in the Verve Records discography. Maybe you saw my request in the history. But I cannot believe, that I didn't make any mistakes beside the oversights, at least with the punctuation. So would you mind if I asked you to re-read it or just to confirm my “perfection” 8]. I'ld really appreciate it, because I do a lot of “dirty work” myself, although english is not my mother tounge, and if it comes to longer texts, I doubt my abilities. Speedy deletion nomination of Spirit of Hope

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Spirit of Hope requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I see you making a lot of "Sp" changes today that are instead punctuation changes.[4][5][6]. More importantly, none of these three edits seems appropriate: MOS:SERIAL explicitly endorses the comma before the "and" of a list of items. DMacks (talk) 19:46, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Aspen dollar

The article Aspen dollar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG.The only substantive source I could find was an unreliable blog.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Teratix 23:16, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

The usual criterion for inclusion in Wikipedia is explained here. Biographies of people (among other categories) that give no indication they might meet that criterion are usually deleted without delay. Very basically, we only summarise information that's already published in reliable sources that're independent of the subject. We do this to ensure both that our information is verifiable, and that it can be written neutrally. If you have any questions, please ask. Cheers, WilyD 08:09, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
WilyD was the person who actually deleted this article, at the title Tex Earnhardt. All I deleted was a redirect to that page. Wikipedia only has articles on people who meet the notability guidelines, specifically the ones here for people. If you can't show that this person meets these guidelines then the page is going to be deleted one way or another. The other person you mentioned has received extensive press coverage, which is why we're able to have an article on them. Hut 8.5 08:50, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
