Wikipedia:Enforce inclusion of categories

Hi, I've made a proposal to change the software to prevent mainspace pages from being saved unless they contain a category. Since you've done a lot of work at User:Bluemoose/Uncategorised good articles, which would be affected by this proposal, I'd appreciate your thoughts! bd2412 T 23:39, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Hollow-body

As a new editor I appreciate you kindness. I followed a couple of your edits to see your work and I have a question about your Hollow-body comment. How do you make a merge proposal? When using wikipedia example pages, I have a standard way of doing it:

A. Find a usage that you like of the thing you are trying to do

1.Hit edit on the example page 2.copy the text of the example you want to use 3.hit the back button or close without saving

B. (Note: I usually have a tab (firefox) open with the page I am editing)

1. Paste the example text 2. modify it to fit your needs 3. Hit the preview button before saving 4. say what your edit is before saving

Notability

I've read your comment about the notability guidelines which are multiplying like rabbits. At minimum I'd like to see them trimmed back as the permutations are out of control. I'm trying to get some of the most onerous retagged as essays, and trim the rest. In a perfect world I'd like to see us relying on verifiability. Please join in some of the discussions.

Tibet: el joc de rol

Hi Vampyre. I took a look at Maqui Edicions' official website and other possible sources. I think I found some external links that should satisfy your request.

• A permanent link -or supposed to be so- inside the official Maqui Edicions' website

• The official website of a convention (or meeting?) celebrated last December in Girona, headquarters' city of the Maqui Edicions company. The name of the convention, VII Trobada de jocs de taula de Girona, could be translated as "7th Girona Tabletop Games Convention".

• Ayudar jugando 2009 is not Catalan but Spanish, but it's only the name of the meeting ("Helping to play, 2009"). The text is in Catalan...

• A personal comment: the Tibet role-playing game had also been translated into Spanith since Maqui Edicions had produced two different books, one into Catalan and the other one into Spanish. Those are the bibliographical references, following the rules I learned in Barcelona and Paris universities:
  • For the Catalan translation: ST. CLAIRE-KING Brian, Tíbet, el joc de rol, Maqui Edicions S.C., Girona, April 2009, translation from English to Catalan by Mateu Pastoret i Jou, 222 p. il. 27x21 cm, softcover, ISBN 978-84-935248-2-1

As you can notice the dimensions and translator are the same, only change the title, language of the book, publication date and ISBN code. Should we indicate "paperback" instead of "softcover"? In original English bibliographical references I often see the simple word "soft."...

Now (but not related to Wikipedia) lets take a look at the guy situated on the right side of this picture (at the side of the only girl of the group), as you can see it in the Ayudar jugando 2009 meeting webpage. He's Eusebi, a Catalan guy who I personally know. I met him in Catalonia more than 15 years ago, when RPGs where still raising in Spain, an expert roleplayer. His collection of role-playing games is... awesome ! a real mountain of books...

Nomination of Tibet: The Roleplaying Game for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Tibet: The Roleplaying Game is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tibet: The Roleplaying Game until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

I'm not sure what to do because every time I get a notice that an article I worked on is being deleted, it's over with by the time I get the notice. I don't WANT to care, but I did spend many hours working on articles in the RPG project in 2009-2010 and it seems sat that they are all being deleted without fair discussion or consensus.

I went to try to discuss it and the discussion was closed without even 24 hours of discussion. There was a merge suggestion, but the "main" article is now flagged for deletion as well. Another article I created a while back (Free RPG Day) was nominated for speedy deletion and then deleted but it didn't fit the category given in the speedy deletion process. There was no discussion of the Tibet article on Articles for Proposed Deletion, only on the Talk page of the article. Vampyrecat (talk) 02:48, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

Deletion discussions usually take a week, sometimes longer if consensus has not been established by then. The Tibet RPG discussion was open for two weeks, from 12 September until 27 September, and while few editors commented, their comments do correctly represent the state of the article: No reliable sources that are independent of the game, thus not enough notability for an article of its own. If I had expressed an opinion in that deletion discussion I would have agreed with those editors. The Vajra Enterprises article is not (and at a glance never was) nominated for deletion, though it suffers severe problems and has been tagged with the appropriate cleanup tags. Free RPG Day also wasn't deleted but was instead turned into a draft in your userspace. Given that much of the content wasn't based on the cited sources and that many of those sources were of rather dubious reliability, that seems an appropriate solution: This way you have a chance to improve the article without the threat of an immediate deletion nomination hanging over it. Thank you so much! The Free RPG Day article needed improvement, but it was speedily deleted without discussion. I had to ask for it to be placed in my user space so I could improve it. International Women's Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, Oregon Jewish Museum, Thursday, March 7

The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, in partnership with social practice artist Shoshana Gugenheim and as part of the Art+Feminism Project, will host the 2nd Annual International Women's Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to edit and/or create Wikipedia articles for Jewish women artists. The event will be held at the museum on Thursday, March 7 from 4 to 8 pm. Pre-registration is preferred but not required. Members of the public are invited to come to the museum to learn about the editing process, its history, its impact, and how to do it. We aim to collaboratively edit/enter 18 Jewish women artists into the canon. Support will be provided by an experienced local Wikipedian who will be on site to teach and guide the process. This edit-a-thon will serve as both a public art action and a public educational program. Participants will have an opportunity to select an artist/s ahead of time or on site.

You are invited! An Art+Feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thon will be held in Portland, Oregon, on March 12, 2022. Learn more here!

Wikipedia is one of the most-visited sites on the internet—and it’s created by people who volunteer their time to write and edit pages. Learn how to edit Wikipedia and be a part of shaping our understanding of our world. In this workshop, volunteer Wikipedia editors will be on hand to train participants on how to get started editing pages and offer ideas for which pages you can pitch in to help improve. Show up at any point during the four hours to get started!

Also: Free burritos!! We will be providing vegan, vegetarian, and meat burritos from food cart Loncheria Las Mayos. Alder Commons has a large, fenced playground. Children are welcome! Some computers will be available to borrow, but if you have a laptop, please bring it to use. We will also be leading an online training for new editors at 11am-12pm PST. International Women’s Day Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon, Sunday, March 10

The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education (OJMCHE), in partnership with social practice artist Shoshana Gugenheim and as part of the Art+Feminism Project, will host an International Women's Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to edit and/or create Wikipedia articles for Jewish women artists. The event will be held at the museum on Sunday, March 10 from 11am-3pm PDT. Pre-registration is preferred but not required. Members of the public are invited to come to the museum to learn about the editing process, its history, its impact, and how to do it. We aim to collaboratively edit/enter Jewish women artists into the canon. An experienced regional Wikipedian will provided will be on site to teach, support, and guide the process.
