Proposed deletion of Black Girl Bill of Rights

The article Black Girl Bill of Rights has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of "significant coverage" required by WP:GNG. Seems to fail WP:NOTSOAPBOX and WP:NOTWEBHOST.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Explanation of deletion

Hi - I thought I'd come and explain why the Black Girl Bill of Rights is almost certainly going to be deleted. If it were up to the majority of us on Wikipedia, pages for initiatives like this would remain because we know that the initiative's intentions are good.

However unfortunately every article has to have sources in it that assert how the topic is notable per Wikipedia's guidelines and only a very specific type of sourcing can accomplish this. These sources have to not only be independent of the topic itself (in this case an initiative) but they also have to be non-trivial and in places Wikipedia would consider to be reliable. This can be exceptionally difficult, especially when you have something that is essentially a grassroots campaign from what I can see, since those are so frequently overlooked by most RS until they're exceptionally large in scope. Even then it's not a guarantee. It's not right or fair that you have news groups focusing on celebrities every time they so much as burp, but the coverage has to be there.

Now what I'd highly, highly recommend is that you look into making your own wiki for this initiative. Places like Wikia are excellent for this, as you can pretty much add whatever you want as long as it doesn't run afoul of their guidelines, which mostly only look at things that are blatantly illegal (violence, drugs, etc), so I don't think that you'd have an issue if you wanted to repost this content on Wikia. I'd actually recommend that you make an entire wiki for the Black Girls Movement as a whole, to be honest. It deserves to be recorded somewhere. I can e-mail you whatever content you need from the page, if you'll enable your e-mail. (Wikipedia won't send you anything except for notifications about people posting on your talk page or on articles you created.)

If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
