August 2020 edit

  Hello, I'm Binksternet. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Novato, California have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 08:08, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I’m sorry seems you have mix up. TheHappys123 (talk) 08:18, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to The Happys. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Lost a San Francisco fireman this year, my dad I see your a San Francisco native. Do the right thing do it right, add the band to the page. Or I will edit every single day. TheHappys123 (talk) 08:33, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

It's a fine thing to promote a band, but on Wikipedia, bands must be famous enough to satisfy the requirements at WP:NBAND.
You've got this piece in the Marin IJ, a local paper, this piece in the Bohemian, another small paper. You need something larger writing about the band. Or a charting release.
And if the band had its own page on Wikipedia, it would be The Happys (band), not The Happys which is an article about a film. Binksternet (talk) 08:41, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

The band has charted in Australia, has been notable. Do you work for the Happys film or for Wikipedia? TheHappys123 (talk) 08:44, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I also gave you articles from different countries, and the band has charted in Australia , and also has been featured on tv, and has thousands of views, I also have you a article from Portland, Seattle, and San Diego almost 600 miles away, grains of sand turn into heaps and they equate to the level of “clout” your talking about. TheHappys123 (talk) 08:47, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Has The Happys movie won any awards that meet proper standards and typical protocol of Wikipedia I’m not aware of any of these at all and have looked into it a lot. TheHappys123 (talk) 08:48, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm not talking about the film. I'm talking about the band meeting the notability requirement at WP:NBAND. Read it.
Can you tell me what song charted in Australia? On what chart? Binksternet (talk) 08:51, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, TheHappys123. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page The Happys, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 08:40, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Happys (film) was founded after, I’m adding details of the band The Happys that has been around 5 years prior and still going? I’m sorry what is the problem exactly? I have hundreds of evidence of resources and proof. TheHappys123 (talk) 08:42, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Nobody is questioning whether the band exists, of course it does. But the band must satisfy the requirements at WP:NBAND. Read that and get back to me. Binksternet (talk) 08:45, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I’m asking again do you work with Wikipedia this is crucial in talking right now do you have friends connected with said Happys movie? TheHappys123 (talk) 08:50, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I ignored that question the first time because it's ridiculous and doesn't change the band notability requirement. It doesn't matter who I am.
But FYI, I'm a live sound engineer who is independent. I don't work for anybody. Binksternet (talk) 08:53, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Happys have thousands of views, have sold thousands of copies of trippin first album released 2016. Thousands of copies of bipolar. Thousands of streams on these as well. Cut the rope caught attention has been featured on live 105. The band has been featured on jam in the Van which is statistically one of the biggest independent music platforms in the entire world out of Los Angeles. The band has also won Lagunitas battle of the bands which suffices for a mainstream company that the battle of the bands was hosted by. If that wasn’t suffice the band also won first place out of hundreds of bands for the haight Ashbury battle of the band competition. Haight Ashbury is known as a historical worldwide place of notable history. The band has also been featured by Broadway world which is a national press it has been released by many places in England of news again that’s international it has articles all the way in Australia I mean man I’m just getting started. I literally have hundreds of files I could send you. TheHappys123 (talk) 08:55, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

That Broadway World thing was simply a press release that they took from the band and reprinted. It doesn't help toward notability. Binksternet (talk) 09:00, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

  Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to The Happys, you may be blocked from editing. Materialscientist (talk) 09:18, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

same name, different articles edit

Any attempt to create Wikipedia content about the band must be as a new article. Adding it to the existing article about the film is wrong, will be deleted, and if you persist, will get you blocked. David notMD (talk) 10:23, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

See Help:Your first article for how to create and submit a draft for review. David notMD (talk) 10:25, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
The editors replying to your questions at Teahouse or commenting on your edits are unpaid volunteers who have nothing to do with the article about the film. Please learn more about the workings of Wikipedia before accusing editors of bias. David notMD (talk) 13:06, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.
