Out of HWY Cup

Grrrrr... I just can't keep my pace up with the other editors in the HWY Cup, I missed a day of it. I'd like out of the HWY Cup! PhilrocMy contribs 12:51, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

@Philroc: So, let me get this straight. You'd still like to compete, but you missed twelve hours of it, so you don't think you can catch up, and want out? You're not even going to try? You do know that Round 1 lasts all the way until June 28, right? TCN7JM 14:30, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
I should add that as early as it is, you could score one point and be in fifth place, where the top seven move on to Round 2. A late start is nothing to get worked up over. TCN7JM 14:33, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
@TCN7JM: Secondly, my pace of editing articles is too slow to keep up with anybody else. PhilrocMy contribs 16:41, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
(You don't need to ping me on my own talk page.) Well, I still think you have a shot, but if you insist, I will remove you from the Cup. TCN7JM 20:28, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your participation

TCN7JM, I would like to take this moment and thank you for taking part in my RfA that happened a while ago. Although it didn't turn out as I had planned, I certainly appreciated all the comments and suggestions given by you and other people. I will learn from all of them and will hopefully run again someday when I'm fully ready. Thank you. TheGeneralUser (talk) 13:50, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Just so you know...

@TCN7JM:

PhilrocMy contribs 00:48, 28 June 2014 (UTC) (No offense to you)

Nope, 1 more day left. --Rschen7754 00:58, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
@Rschen7754: !? PhilrocMy contribs 01:04, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
The cup runs until the 28th, including the 28th. It is still the 28th. --Rschen7754 01:06, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
@Rschen7754:BUT that's in UTC, so I converted it to EDT, and got 8:00. PhilrocMy contribs 01:08, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Round 1 ends tomorrow. It runs through the 28th. TCN7JM 02:54, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
But don't forget to count up contestants' remaining points before closing the round. Rcsprinter123 (rap) @ 09:40, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
I know what I'm doing, guys. I'm a bit insulted by your apparent needs to remind me how to run this. TCN7JM 17:05, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
I was unsure whether to post that, but decided to be on the safe side. Extremely sorry for the insult caused. Rcsprinter123 (gimme a message) @ 21:44, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 June newsletter

After an extremely close race, Round 3 is over. 244 points secured a place in Round 4, which is comparable to previous years- 321 was required in 2013, while 243 points were needed in 2012. Pool C's   Godot13 (submissions) was the round's highest scorer, mostly due to a 32 featured pictures, including both scans and photographs. Also from Pool C,   Casliber (submissions) finished second overall, claiming three featured articles, including the high-importance Grus (constellation). Third place was Pool B's , whose contributions included featured articles Russian battleship Poltava (1894) and Russian battleship Peresvet. Pool C saw the highest number of participants advance, with six out of eight making it to the next round.

The round saw this year's first featured portal, with   Sven Manguard (submissions) taking Portal:Literature to featured status. The round also saw the first good topic points, thanks to   12george1 (submissions) and the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. This means that all content types have been claimed this year. Other contributions of note this round include a featured topic on Maya Angelou's autobiographies from   Figureskatingfan (submissions), a good article on the noted Czech footballer Tomáš Rosický from   Cloudz679 (submissions) and a now-featured video game screenshot, freely released due to the efforts of   Sven Manguard (submissions).

The judges would like to remind participants to update submission pages promptly. This means that content can be checked, and allows those following the competition (including those participating) to keep track of scores effectively. This round has seen discussion about various aspects of the WikiCup's rules and procedures. Those interested in the competition can be assured that formal discussions about how next year's competition will work will be opened shortly, and all are welcome to voice their views then. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck!
