Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Organoleptics

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Organoleptics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Proposed deletion of Diospyros balsamifera

edit

The article Diospyros balsamifera has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not clear what the subject of this article is. The title "Diospyros balsamifera" was invented out of thin air on Wikipedia; it is not a published scientific name for any species of plant. From what I can determine, the subject (and title) of the article should be "afarsemon". But there's some confusion about that word; see [1]. Afarsemon is ancient Hebrew name for an aromatic plant. Afarsemon has been adopted as a modern Hebrew name for fruits from the plants in the genus Diospyros due to phonetic similiarity with the English (well, actually Algonquian) word persimmons. Aside from the invented species name in the title, taxobox and lead, this article appears to be about Balsam of Mecca (or בֹּשֶׂם (bosem)), which is currently a redirect to a section but had been an article for many years. Persimmons/Diospyros aren't at all considered to be candidates for בֹּשֶׂם (bosem)/afarsemon. This article has an invented title for a mistranslated concept, and should be deleted.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
