Legends of Hampshire

Thanks for your additions to Bramshill and support. Legends of Hampshire might be an interesting article. There you could go into detail on the numerous legends. I think detailed content on legends is OK in the right context, and certainly makes interesting reading, but in articles on architectural pieces it really shouldn't be more than a basic summary.There's nothing wrong with the sourcing in the Bramshill article, and am pretty sure the others would agree.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:41, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks Doc, I hope it gets through - in my opinion, giving broad coverage to a subject includes legends/folkloric aspects. Unfortunately, some people read "ghost" and automatically thing it is a claim of paranormal, rather than simply relating the stories told about the place - and Bramshill looms large in Hampshire folklore. The publisher is a decent one, and I used that book in particular because it is from a solid series on county folklore, rather than using my collection of "Hampshire Ghosts" type titles. You know, I had thought about putting in something about languages, particularly the languages of the inscriptions - in the end I didn't, because I knew I had so much to cover and was worried about space. I am sure most Mayanists wouldnt notice it was missing, but it stands out to a linguist. Also you do use some of the langauge names as ethnonyms but never give an introduction to the diversity. Amazingly beautiful article, agreed. Definitely a future FA, I'd guess though given the complexity of it and your personal knowledge of the possibilities you still want to work on it a fair bit though. If you ever want a hand in promoting something let me know. It's great to see work on the more general core articles, you too Maunus with English language. Out of the Maya sites I'd like to see more GAs I think. Glad to see my infobox and map is still in use BTW! Thanks Doc. Actually it wasn't MOS, it was the CS1 gods rolling out undiscussed changes to the citation templates (OK, they were discussed in some obscure corner that no-one but CS1 programmers ever reads). As a result, I've dumped use of citation templates for new articles, and will continue with the smallcaps for as long as I can... I hope to keep rolling out Maya GAs from time to time - and your infobox certainly isn't forgotten! Actually, I've been working on Spanish Conquest articles for so long, coming back to work on the pre-Columbian Maya was refreshing - I think it may have given me a push back towards producing more of those Maya site GAs. @User:Eio-cos: Please read Wikipedia:Citing sources, particularly the 2nd paragraph of the introduction - all material should be cited. If all the text you added came from the two refs, then an inline ref should be added as appropriate. If everything in an individual paragraph cames from the same reference, then add <ref>Cited source with page no.</ref> at the end of the paragraph. If the material is drawn from various sources, then add the <ref>Cited source with page no.</ref> at the end of each sentence.

With the gradual accumulation of information on Wikipedia pages, anything unreferenced may be removed at any time. Your additions are most welcome, it is just a matter of making sure that any piece of information can be verified. I understand your concern, Simon, about everything being clearly referenced. I can only add in my justification that the links that I placed in that section are hotlinks; in other words they can be easily checked by going to Google books, for example, and finding more info.
