What would make this subject more "notable"?

edit

Sebastien Stella is one of the foremost specialty and aerial choreographers in the world. Though not a household name, in America, he has played a crucial role in boosting the careers of such performers as Pink and Katy Perry with his work. The largest French language publication in the US named him one of the top French celebrities living here. He is a juror on a popular French talent competition show along the lines of The X Factor. All of that would seem to make him a notable figure by Wikipedia's standards. I understand Wikipedia's request for more citable sources attesting to his notability, but would welcome advice/comments on like likelihood of Stella passing the notability test with those citations. (edit conflict) That looks promising, but WP:Notability in Wikipedia's sense does not depend on assertions like "one of the foremost... " or accounts of what he has done, but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought him significant enough to write substantial comment about? See also WP:Notability (summary).
That replaces the subjective question "Do we think he is important or significant?" with the more objective one "Is there evidence that people not connected with him think him important or significant?" The key is, independent references. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:24, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
