Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Red Phoenix talk 16:59, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi there,
I do apologise I wasn't aware of all the Wikipedia polices that were in place. I would like to change my username to 'Magic Lover'.
As well as, since being blocked I have read all the different policies that you have to abide to on Wikipedia in order to edit/create pages. Now I have a better understanding of this, it will help me for future pages.
My contributions to Wikipedia is to create correct and accurate readings and all things related to Magic. Marvins Magic (talk) 14:32, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

Changed username as realised it was a violation of username policy. Intend to edit pages of Marvin's Magic and Marvin Berglas to ensure information is accurate and informative Marvins Magic (talk) 17:03, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Your proposed new username still sounds like it is that of a group of people; accounts are for individuals. Please read WP:PROMO, WP:COI, and WP:PAID and explain how your future edits will be consistent with these policies, and also tell what topics you might edit about as a general contributor. Typically in this situation we want to see a user demonstrate through editing in other, unrelated areas that they understand Wikipedia content guidelines. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, make edits related to your conflict of interest. If that is your only goal here, it's unlikely you will be unblocked; I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:47, 9 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi again,
Also undoing the directly I thought was necessary as this is a separate page to Marvin's Magic? This was talking about the founder of Marvin's Magic (Marvin Berglas).
Can you help me understand what needs to be fixed here please so I can amend.
Many Thanks Showtime87 (talk) 14:18, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
You can't edit directly on either Marvin's Magic or Marvin Berglas per the policies mentioned by 331dot. GPL93 (talk) 15:53, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

You must use the edit request procedure on the relevant article talk pages. 331dot (talk) 16:56, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I couldn't find either pages on the WP:Dashboard § Requested edits. Is this where I should be going? Showtime87 (talk) 14:42, 7 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Marvins Magic! Your additions to Marvin Berglas have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 00:15, 9 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

The chosen username is too similar to an existing username or it used to be username of someone else that got renamed: Magiclover. Please choose again. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:09, 15 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
