"It is the stuff of the life force itself."

I think that summarizes the section faithfully... it reads like an opinion piece.

Keep in mind that I love EDM and I agree with your views on dance music being a very spiritual thing, but this section is written in a way that doesn't really fit well into the artice or in an encyclopedia at all. Also please keep in mind that here at wikipedia, we require reliable sources for all potentially contestable material (such as the claim that dance music is spiritual, among others). This section might have a place in the artice if it were given some context, but in its current state, it's no more than a a jarring digression into an essay in the middle of an otherwise factual article.

I will give you time to rewrite this piece if you so wish, but I do believe that most people here on Wikipedia would agree that it really shouldn't be included as it is right now. Good luck. (|-- UlTiMuS 12:26, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Shantiq (talk) 15:54, 9 April 2012 (UTC) hi there Makik both images were on the Lou Reed page I do not understand what you wrote therefore and why you removed them from there . I have now clearly explained where image is to be foundReply

Sorry about confusion. Will put them back back up

    Thanx shan

Hi Shantiq. The problem is that the photos are subject to copyright and Wikipedia can't use them. In order to use a copyrighted photo, it must satisfy all ten of the requirements at WP:Non-free content criteria. These pictures don't meet those requirements, particularly #1 and #8. Wikipedia already has many "free" pictures of Lou Reed (#1) and the article can describe Reed's life without using the pictures in question (#8). I'm afraid there's no way we can use the pictures. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 16:23, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Shantiq (talk) 16:31, 9 April 2012 (UTC) Sorry Malik but i am confused. It says screenshots are permissible; and those two images definitely enhance the article; altho of course one can have the article with no images it would still work but is sad; like a skeleton with no fleshReply

Screenshots are permitted in very limited circumstances, as the copyright notice says, "for critical commentary and discussion of the film and its contents". I agree it's a shame we can't use photos from all periods of Lou Reed's life, but Wikipedia has to follow the copyright law in the United States. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 16:40, 9 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notice of No Original Research Noticeboard discussion edit

Hello, Shantiq. This message is being sent to inform you that a discussion is taking place at Wikipedia:No original research/Noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. (Re: Repeated insertion of WP:OR at Haruki Murakami.) 62.147.27.118 (talk) 17:52, 31 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. The IP editor that you claim has been vandalizing is in the right here. It appears that you have been adding your own original interpretation of the "shamanism" aspect of Murakami's writing. Please note that all content added to the English Wikipedia must be supported by reliable sources and that taking information from two separate sources and coming up with an original conclusion based on those two separate sources is a violation of the original research policy.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 22:27, 31 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ryulong I created the section and a Paris IP [is it you Ryulong?]has removed it 3 times I enclose my entry here in its entirety. Read it and see that it is not what I have done. I linked those articles to illustrate the section. I am not using separate sources. I am not breaking any rules here that I can see. My entry is well resourced and the links are relevant. Please take a look for yourself.

Presence of a "Shamanic Dimension"

Nobuko Ochner, an associate professor of Japanese at the University of Hawaii, wrote there were many descriptions of traveling in a parallel world as well as characters who have some connection to shamanism. Also found were "themes of self-searching and loss of self" ; which are elements of all shamanic transformation. In the Wind-Up Bird Chronicle ; the main character; a rudderless man who happens to have the same tastes as Murakami himself (love of Jazz etc...) descends into a dry well in Tokyo; where he enters a parallel world in which he wages war against Japan's modern history, from the War in China to the corrupt aspects of the modern-day State. This is a descent into the underworld; a typical shamanic journey taken on behalf of the greater community. According to Mircea Eliade "The shaman enters supernatural realms or dimensions to obtain solutions to problems afflicting the community" ; what the main character does here.

This otherwordly "shamanic dimension" also appears in 1Q84 where the main female Character Aomame ... " concludes that she must be living in an alternate reality, which she calls "1Q84," and suspects that she entered it about the time she heard the Janáček Sinfonietta on the taxi radio. "
