Just a note, while the community is still evaluating CXT, the temporary 5000-edit bard has been reduced to 500edits+30day old accounts. — xaosflux Talk 04:46, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

Good to know. Im back! -- » Shadowowl | talk 15:37, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
Please be aware, CXT use is still under a lot of discussion, ensuring that pages you create with it are of high quality is very important. For example, Kalleguta appears to have multiple problems: it is clearly a stub, but not categorized as one, has some bad grammar (sentence starting with a lower case letter), and not assert why it is notable (this being a geography article may have a notability category exception to that (I don't normally review those types of articles directly)). — xaosflux Talk 16:57, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination

I have declined your speedy deletion nomination of Rama Rama Re..., because the article does not satisfy the criterion you gave, though I admit it comes close. I wish there were a speedy deletion criterion which covered articles like this, but there isn't. I suggest you try WP:PROD or WP:AfD as ways of requesting deletion. DAB entry descriptions

Hello and thanks for giving some of the disambiguation pages a good cleaning. If I could offer a minor criticism, I'd like to highlight a portion of MOS:DAB regarding entry descriptions that states "Keep the description associated with a link to a minimum, just sufficient to allow the reader to find the correct link. In many cases, the title of the article alone will be sufficient and no additional description is necessary." So, we frequently don't need a description. When we do add one, while using the lede sentence of the linked article like you're doing is a great idea, it's often better to use a paraphrased or just shortened version of that sentence. It all just gets readers where they're trying to go faster. I'm probably being nitpicky, but I'm a big fan of brevity in general and especially on DAB pages. That said, I still want to extend a big thanks for helping with the DAB project and I genuinely you keep it up. Happy editing! -- Fyrael (talk) 14:11, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

I noticed that you've created many articles lately without any sourcing. Unfortunately, this creates issues with verifiability. 15:08:58, 12 November 2016 review of submission by LKreissig

You allege that this draft just "provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject matter" despite my latest efforts to make its description text now very stringent and precise? --LKreissig (talk) 15:08, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

The article is just an giant image with some phrases around it. Make the image smaller and you have more success. Maybe the text is informative, but the image ruins everything. Regards, » Shadowowl | talk 15:20, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
The topic is very much associated with and invites to impart its complexity through images, like every non-linear fractal and Wikipedia already accepted a couple of other likewise information material constellations. Is there a specific Wikipedia guideline discouraging from using large illustrating pictures only because the topic's complexity invites to illustrate that way? --LKreissig (talk) 21:04, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Paul Clark - declined

Hello, I would be very interested to know why this article has been declined on the grounds it 'reads like an advertisement'. Could you please advise which language in particular makes it read this way? As an educational research department, we have nothing to sell and are keen to get a page for this designer as we believe that while little known, he is worthy of recognition as you can see from the wikilinks to other people and topics. Only one of the 18 references comes from the creator of the page, the rest are external print and web articles. This page was first submitted around six months ago and it is confusing as to why this issue has been raised only now. Many thanks.

New Page Review needs your help

Hi Shadowowl,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Shadowowl. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Resubmitted article

Hi Shadowowl, I have deleted all external links in the body and resubmitted my article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Peter_Hobbs_(composer) Kind regards, Rachel Rachel Wallis (talk) 03:43, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

AfC note

Hi, just letting you know that I've accepted Astin Mansion at AfC, which you had declined. Per WP:AFCSTANDARDS, we should [a]void declining an article because it contains formatting issues like external links in the body of the text. Rather, I think it's better to be bold, make the change yourself, and then accept the article if it meets all the other inclusion criteria in the reviewing workflow. If a draft fails any of those criteria, it's best to give the submitter feedback explaining the substantive problem with the draft (notability, advertising/promotionalism, WP:NOT problems, and so on). Otherwise, the editor may resubmit after fixing the cosmetic formatting problem, only to have the draft rejected again due to the substantive problem, which would certainly be frustrating for Wikipedia newcomers! I noticed you'd also declined a few other drafts for similar reasons today, so I thought I'd drop you a line. Thanks, /wiae /tlk 21:33, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

As an academic, I recognize some of the concerns addressed by the editor. However, although the Chicago Lighting Institute made a pioneering contribution in the developing history of lighting, the source material that can be used to document this history is both limited and, at times, personal (letters, e.g.). Therefore, to document this history, trade journals and letters have to be employed. If you have suggestion as to alternative ways of remembering this important history, I will be very attentive.

Cordially,

David Zersen

Hello David. i rejected this article, because it has to be split in sections, and the sections that are there already, are incorrectly formatted.

13:42:32, 14 December 2016 review of submission by Chris33smit

Hello,

The reason I'm asking for a re-review is that I don't understand the reason. My article is declined because it has a link to my podcast. This podcast is non-commercial and free. I have been doing this podcast for years and have had people for all walks of lives as guests. The content of these interviews are educational, noteworthy, entertaining and add to a better understanding of cultural differences. Simply mentioning that there is a podcast available, but leaving it up to the reader to go and find it does not make sense to me. Wikipedia being a complete site with references to everything should (could) not object to a link to this podcast. An earlier decline was based on so-called "peacock" talk. I have based this entry on an entry of a friend of mine who, in my view, certainly has so-called "peacock" talk (e.g. ...who is regarded as the world's leading expert in...). the link to that particular page is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navid_Moazzez

Finally, other contributions that I have made to subjects relating to my expertise should show that I am an expert in my profession and not merely after self-promotion.

So with all the above I kindly request you to reconsider my submission.

Sincerely, Chris Smit Chris33smit (talk) 13:42, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I submitted an article for the actress Laraine Stephens for the 5th time and although I gave references of serious books on television or serious article from newspapers articles , I always get the answer that my references are not fiable enough. I wonder if the editors are familiar with the screen and tv scenes as Laraine Stephens is a famous actress with more than 100 credits , something I don't see in some inclusion of a lot of actors or actresses who get a publication on wikipedia. I know she retired in 1983 but an encyclopedia should include people from the past as well, especially when they were popular during their prime (in the cas of Ms Stephens the 1960s and 1970s). I would appreciate that you reconsider the inclusion on wikipedia of Laraine Stephens. Thank you very much in advance . best regards Christophe Vetter (OrfeoLille)

3 February 2017 review of submission for ESLint

Hello, the draft was rejected because it "is not adequately supported by reliable sources". But I am not sure what source should be add. It is a computer program. The official project website is cited and the original blog post of the author presenting the project and the reason he started it. If we compare to the JSLint page, wich was accepted, it is true that the later has more references. But six out of seven are for a debate about the licence being open source or not. ESLint does not have that kind of problem since it uses an unmodified MIT licence. Should I put a link to the licence file in the repository? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.67.42.98 (talk) 08:03, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

I am confused about your comment about external links. The external links in the body of the article are supporting citations which I thought are required to be published. The external link guidance states the external link restrictions do not apply to the citations, so the external links in my article should be exempt. How do you handle the citations? Do I cite the document source without the link and then list the external link in the external link section? The citations are documents which are only found online since they are government policy memos and directives. Please advise. Thank you. Hi. I've had an article declined initially for insufficient notability, because I only included a Financial Times reference. I then resubmitted with several other notable references as requested and then had it declined because a reviewer said "it read like an ad". I've removed anything that smacks of commentary or praise and yet I've received another rejection. I'm a bit baffled what to do next. The company in question was the first ever to buy itself back from being a plc, to become an employee owned organisation. It received much press coverage at the time and remains an interesting case study. That's really all I'm trying to get up on Wikipedia. What can I do? What specific issues in the article "Read like an ad"? Most are taken directly from the quoted articles.

Dear Shadowowl,

thank you very much for your quick and most effective help!

Now there are still some tasks to be done and I could very well need some further advise.

How do I insert the missing criteria?

Criteria could be: - Roman Catholic Church - Lay Movement - Association of believers - Germany

What else would you propose?

And then there are redirecting links to be found - but this will be hard, because within the English speaking world this group of Christians is not well known yet. Could there also be links to German Wikipedia?

Would you kindly let me have your opinion?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Shadowowl. I see a couple of days ago you rejected MaryAnthonyStartz's Draft:William McNamara (soldier) because it was non-notable. I would respectably beg to differ. WP:SOLDIER advises that we accept articles on people who've won the highest military honor of valor for whatever country they were serving. The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

About the redirecting of Republic of Taiwan (1895)

Republic of Formosa is a short-lived republic which was established on the Taiwan island in 1895, also known as Republic of Taiwan. Formosa is an old name of the Taiwan Island.

The page Taiwan refers to the state which was officially known as Republic of China (ROC), not Republic of Taiwan. Furthermore, ROC was established in 1911, not 1895.

So it is sure that Republic of Taiwan (1895) should be redirected to Republic of Formosa, not Taiwan. Hope you to know that. --Wind2323 (talk) 09:43, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

I would like further explanation of what would make this article acceptable. I actually wanted to make edits about her 9th dan testing, of which she did pass, and is now, officially the highest ranked American female in Taekwondo.

I have provided links to the information. Is it because it is not linked to within the actual body? Do I need separate links? Are certain things not trustworthy? This is my first time building a wikipedia page, and it is part of my project for testing for my 6th degree black belt. Though I have had web building experience, the wiki site is a bit new to me, and I am struggling to understand the ramifications of how this works. I feel that my contribution matches what I have seen in several other Wiki articles.

The article has 2 references. It needs more to be accepted. I also see that the picture is missing, probably removed because of copyright violation. Please remove the link to the picture, or add it again with an valid license. -- » Shadowowl | talk 17:25, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

I am unsure how to make it read less like a tour guide, I have received a lot of feedback through the tree house, and many people have helped me edit this page to make it acceptable. I had a look at the West Highland Way wikipedia page (a very similar walk), and I feel that this follows the safe structure and style of that page. Could you please provide me with more feedback so that I can edit this?EleanorLC (talk) 09:41, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

This leg of the route rated medium level difficulty and things like that, belong in a tour guide, not in Wikipedia. Regards, » Shadowowl | talk 14:47, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
I have removed the mention of difficult ratings, would this be sufficient to resubmit or are their other things I should change? EleanorLC (talk) 13:27, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
It is fine now, feel free to resubmit. Regards, » Shadowowl | talk 16:09, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Request on 10:04:16, 29 June 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Coxnix

Hello Admin :) I would like to know more details about the declined AfC Darft:Sanjana Jon

cosnis 10:04, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Hello. At first, I am not an admin. I used the wrong decline reason there. The correct one should be that the section Early Life is not sourced. Also there is an grey box in the text. Please remove it, as it will prevent reviewers from accepting your article. Regards, » Shadowowl | talk 16:12, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Hello! First thanks for taking the time to look at my article The 'How to do good' Philanthropy Programme. I have resubmitted it and I think I have taken out incorrect/inappropriate external links as well as making a few improvements (I hope). Is it possible for you to have another look? Or is this an inappropriate request? If so apologies in advance.ECURBEC (talk) 09:01, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
