(Jordan S. Wilson (talk) 23:24, 19 February 2010 (UTC)) Greeting Fellow Wikipedian, Thanks for refilling my page. If you see on you page I have created some barnstar for you. If you need anything you let me know.Reply

User blanking of articles edit

I notice that you recently reverted an edit where the author of the article Department of postgraduate education had blanked that article, and you placed a warning on that user's talk page, using Huggle. However, it is generally accepted that if the author of an article blanks the article, and no other user has added any significant content, then the blanking is taken as indicating that the author wants the page deleted, and it can then be tagged for speedy deletion with {{db-blanked}}. Very often new users who don't know how Wikipedia works see an article they have created tagged for deletion, accept that the article should be deleted, and remove the content, thinking that is deleting it. It is much better in such a case not to bite the newcomer by giving them a warning that they have done something wrong by trying to comply with the deletion notice. You may know all this already: I know from my own experience of using Huggle that it is very easy to slip into simply clicking on the revert button and moving on without checking the edit carefully enough, but I thought it would not harm to mention this. I have taken the liberty of removing the user warning: please restore it if you think there is a good reason why it should be there. JamesBWatson(talk) 15:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I can only apologise for this, occasionally it is very easy to do this without realising. However i do have a lot of experience with huggle, and as you have said from your experience too it is all too easy for this to happen. Again i can only apologise that this has happened. KiraChinmoku (T, ¤)21:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
I am also in the process of modifying the huggle sourcecode to make it harder for these things to happen by checking the creator of the page against last edits to see if this is what may have happened. KiraChinmoku (T,¤) 21:47, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
No apology is needed: I was just letting you know in case you didn't realise. JamesBWatson (talk) 16:34, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I wont be withdrawing it for one reason. That reason being if it is closed i will miss out on alot of comments. Comments left on the RFA will help me to improve for the next time i try. This is because i cant see where i am going wrong, so comments help, what i cant see others can, and comments like yours will help me to improve my work on wikipedia. KiraChinmoku (T, ¤) 23:49, 17 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

An RfA, once it has been transcluded and several users have !voted in it, does not qualify for CSD G7. If you wish to withdraw the RfA, the correct way to do so is to post a withdrawing statement below your self-nom statement. After the RfA is closed and archived, you can request courtesy blanking. However, closed RfAs are generally not deleted. Nsk92 (talk) 00:29, 18 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I regret to inform you that your RFA has been closed (per your request) as unsuccessful. I also strongly recommend involving yourself in areas where admins work (WP:AFD/TFD/CFD/MFD, WP:CSD, WP:AIV, etc.) and become very familiar with how they work. Reading Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship and the information found atWikipedia:Administrators#Becoming an administrator (especially the links there). Boolean logic edit

Minor nitpick on the clever code from your user page:

assert((x == true) == x); // Will never throw an exception, regardless of the value of x

Or, as most logicians would agree, the statement "x is true" is functionally equivalent to the simpler statement "x."

2014 FIFA World Cup scores. edit

Hello, Weather it has a reliable source or not, It still doesn't change the fact that wikipedia is not a live scoring system site.Skyblueshaun (talk) 14:01, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

The MIP template exists for a reason. Although wikipedia is not a live score website, if users choose to update match scores and the information is correct and verifiable, which in this case it is, there is no point reverting it. Wikipedia is an excellent source of information and the more up to date it is the better. To the best of my knowledge there is no part of Wikipedias policy that says you cannot update sports match scores live KiraChinmoku (T, ¤) 3:04 pm, Today (UTC+1)
I have reported your issue to people higher up in wikipedia and they should get back to you. I would like to tell you that I got banned from editing on wikipedia for using live scores, So I am not messing around here. Skyblueshaun (talk) 14:08, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
The person you have passed this on to is not an administrator and therefore cannot make decisions regarding this matter. There is no part of policy that says that live score information is not allowed on wikipedia. Please get an actual administrator / sysop / Jimmy Wales to contact me regarding the rules of this matter. Until then I shall remain rollbacking and protecting good faith edits that are reliable and have citations. I'm not doing this to be a pain or cause problems to you or anyone else, I'm simply doing it because the information is correct and reliable and therefore has every right to be on the relevent page as part of Wikipedia. Best Regards KiraChinmoku (T, ¤)14:15, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Both of you should consider this a final warring about edit warring, carry on and I will block both of you, and Kira I have to agree with Shaun here, do you not see the pointlessness in adding live scores when you could just wait 90 minutes and then add them? Or are you intending to do this for every sporting event ever? --Jac16888 Talk 14:29, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Very well. I would however like to point out that every edit I made was in good faith to others and I can't help but feel Shaun jumped the gun a little reporting me for vandalism, which quite frankly was unnecessary. KiraChinmoku (T, ¤) 14:34, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
You exacerbated the situation by reverting Shaun rather than discussing properly - please adhere to WP:BRD in the future.--Jac16888 Talk 14:37, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
I attempted to discuss it, I was even "told" it wasn't allowed, but up until a few mins ago I was offered no proof that is wasn't allowed. And I'm not naive enough to simply believe something just because someone says it is true. Anyway, the matter has been dealt with so thats it over. Thank-you for your comments Jac KiraChinmoku (T,¤) 14:41, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Revert edit

Regarding this edit: I wouldn't consider this vandalism (it's a legitimate link), but I'm also reluctant to un-revert it because I'm not sure how notable it is. Richard Markham (field hockey) edit

Some of the tags are rather puzzling - how is the article outdated? StAnselm (talk) 21:26, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately some of wikipedia's tags are poorly named, that one is listed as "page requires updating" which is misleading. What I mean was the page requires updating with more information, not that the information is out of date as the tag would indicate.KiraChinmoku (T, ¤)21:30, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ah, OK. Of course, this is what the whole stub system is supposed to be about. That's what I created - a stub. If you like, you could use Template:Missing information or Template:Incomplete. StAnselm (talk) 21:34, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Updated: Page now has stub tag replacing the tags I placed earlier

Stortford, Essex redirect edit

I declined your request for speedy deletion, primarily because the redirect was not "recently created" but has been around for several months now. I also think that an argument might be made that, even though factually inaccurate the redirect is still potentially useful, as the town is on the border of Essex according to Bishop's Stortford. At any rate, I think it's better to discuss it at WP:RFD. Cheers, postdlf (talk) 20:25, 9 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Reporting on Admin boards edit

Note: Thank you for your help by reporting vandalism. You reported the same user at AIV and UAA at about the same time. Please report only once and to the more appropriate board. In this case the user was blocked temporarily for adding spam. Although AIV is for vandalism (which this was not) it is ok to use for blatant spammers. Your report to UAA was unnecessary and not applicable as the username is not in violation. Thanks for your help. -- Alexf(talk) 16:58, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for that, I'll remember that in future. Wasn't sure what the general procedure was so reported on both to play it safe.KiraChinmoku (T, ¤) 17:00, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
NP. We were all beginners in need of learning at one point. The boards are sometimes overwhelmed, so adding unnecessary reports does not help. Cheers. -- Alexf(talk) 17:02, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
You did it again on User:Royharter at UAA and AIV. besides, the user has had no warnings whatsoever as of this writing, whic is needed, and I fail to see the case for UAA. Please read the board's rules published there. Thank you. -- Alexf(talk) 16:24, 12 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sorry once again, user was reported due to username linking with 2 articles I consider to be G11 (one of which has an identical name to the user, see Roy Harter), clicked to warn the user about the removal of speedy deletion tags which sent a vandalism report. File permission problem with File:Stortford Music Festival Logo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Stortford Music Festival Logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letterhere. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:20, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I can get proof of permission however it may take longer than a week. The original permission came verbally so obviously there is no proof of that. Would a screenshot of an email suffice? KiraChinmoku (T,¤) 09:34, 12 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
A copy of the e-mail(or a screenshot) to the address listed should work.Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:36, 12 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is a really minor issue, and I don't want you to stress over it, but I'm a bit concerned about the markup length of your signature. I was a bit surprised at the markup length when I went to reply to your messages (especially given that the appearance length is so small). The markup length would be frowned up upon by guidelines for signature length. When you have some time, do you mind taking a look at that? Thanks. Changes to Saint-Lambert sur Dives edit

Hi, I've noticed that one can't just make changes without explanation to Wikipedia pages ! Sorry about that, I didn't realise... The change I made concerns the Falaise pocket battle of 1944 in Saint Lambert sur Dive in the Orne deparment of France. In the English Wikipedia the battle is stated as taking place in Saint-Lambert in the Calvados department about 35 miles to west. This is incorrect. It took place in the village of Saint Lambert SUR DIVE in the Orne department. The mistake is understandable after all, 2 villages called Saint Lambert 35 miles apart :). To check this just look up Saint-Lambert, Calvados in the English Wikipedia and click on the French link. You'll find that there is no reference to the battle in the French Wikipedia. Then do the same for Saint-Lambert sur Dive and you'l find an interesting summary on the French page. Regards Richard

  • Hi Richard, that's fine. In future make sure you add citations and edit summaries. That way users like myself won't immediately assume your edits are vandalism or something like that. Regards KiraChinmoku 09:18, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

You twice reverted my edit at this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandung_Institute_of_Technology, while what I did was to update the fact that Alwin Syah Loebis is NO longer President Director of Aneka Tambang. Current President Director is Tato Miraza. source: http://www.antam.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9&Itemid=18 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.232.84.229 (talk) 12:38, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • This was reverted due to a lack of citations for the change. RobertEves92 15:18, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

CVs edit

The tag to use is G11 - advertising or promotion. You can also use A7 non-notable person in most cases. On a user page, U5 or G11 - but that is for a proper CV not just telling us a bit about who they are. Peridon (talk) 15:50, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Matt Taylor edit

I think you must have made a mistake. My edit included a reliable source. I mentioned the existence of a crowd-funded petition, and backed up that claim by providing the primary source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.168.66.228 (talk) 12:25, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • The paragraph you added did not have any citations. I believe someone else has messaged you regarding this matter. RobertEves92 15:20, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

No, sorry, you have made a mistake. The paragraph I added had a citation. And yes, I am currently slogging away at this on the talk page for the article concerned. 86.168.66.228 (talk) 00:23, 30 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Mr Blue Skye edit

Now, why on Earth did you remove the information I added about the baroque part in the song? --213.89.69.174 (talk) 20:12, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Uncited changes. No references or citations to back up the edits you have made. RobertEves92 20:26, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well then - with that point of view I'll remove every part from the article that isn't backed up by refernces or citations. I'll start with the cover verison section shortly.--213.89.69.174 (talk) 00:29, 30 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
