Hello Real Indian, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to V. Harikrishna have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. CAPTAIN RAJU (✉) 18:13, 4 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm CAPTAIN RAJU. Thank you for your recent contributions to V. Harikrishna. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! CAPTAIN RAJU (✉) 18:16, 4 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use thumbnails inside of infoboxes as you did to V. Harikrishna. Note that this is your second warning regarding this issue. Continuing to add thumbnails will be seen as disruptive editing. For more information please see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE. When adding an image, instead of doing:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

You can simply supply the name of the image. So in this case just do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

Thanks! Speedy deletion nomination of Vijay Kiragandur

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vijay Kiragandur requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speculation

edit

Please re-read this submission of yours, and then compare it to the source. Your assertion that film A was derived from source B is speculative, even per the tone of your source. You need to be able to make editorial distinctions like this if you intend to edit at Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a rumor mill, and we do not present opinions as facts.   Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that in this edit to Adyaksha, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 08:32, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

WP:FILMRATING

edit

Please note that we don't indiscriminately add a film's rating to articles as you did here. Per WP:FILMRATING there should be some sort of context that explains why this information is important:

"Ratings given to individual films by motion picture rating systems will vary by territories in accordance to their cultures and their types of governance. In film articles, avoid indiscriminate identification of ratings and instead focus on ratings for which there is substantial coverage from reliable sources. Coverage of ratings can include how a film is produced to target specific audiences, the late editing of a film to acquire a specific rating, or controversy over whether or not a film's rating was appropriately assigned."

Speedy deletion nomination of Vismaya (film)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Vismaya (film) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

What was the point?

edit

Hi there, what was the point of this edit? You removed content without providing an explanation, and the text that remained was "After initial denial, the makers admitted It received three awards at the 2011 Karnataka State Film Awards". Perhaps you can see the problem with this change? I'm reverting your edit. It would be appreciated if you'd please provide a clear explanation next time. Thanks. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content, as you did at Spider-Man: Homecoming. For this edit, where you paste content lifted from some other source. For instance, the content appears verbatim [1]. Indefinitely does not mean forever, but it does mean for the foreseeable future. To be unblocked, you will need to convince a reviewing administrator that you understand why adding copyrighted content at Wikipedia is a problem. You have previously been blocked for this behavior. Request reason:

Dear Cyphoidbomb, I didn't know that copying text was also a mistake. Sorry, From Now onwards, I will not do like that. Please unblock me. Thank you

Decline reason:

Given your record, this is nowhere near sufficient, I'm afraid. In order to be unblocked, you will need to explain your understanding of copyright and the copyright policy, in sufficient detail that we can be sure you have a thorough grasp of how copyright works on Wikipedia. Request reason:

Dear Wikipedia Administrator, Sir / Madam, I thought that copying text is not a mistake in Wikipedia. Because, in many pages, editors have copied the text from the website I copied. So now onwards, I will not copy text or images. Please forgive me and unblock me. Thank you

Decline reason:

As above. "In order to be unblocked, you will need to explain your understanding of copyright and the copyright policy, in sufficient detail that we can be sure you have a thorough grasp of how copyright works on Wikipedia." Hint: read and thoroughly understand WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FU and then summarise these in your own words. Yamla (talk) 13:51, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

The editor (who is evading their block by editing from 106.51.135.22 also apparently has no comprehension that presenting subjective opinions as incontrovertible facts is completely inappropriate. Real Indian, the encyclopedia doesn't care about our opinions, and even if you could source that the film Lee was "declared a disaster", we do not regurgitate these declarations, because it violates the neutral tone that we are trying to achieve. If a reviewer described Lee as "a steaming pile of shit", would you write, "The film was a steaming pile of shit"? There's no difference describing it as a "disaster". That's tonally inappropriate. Also, you are not presently welcome to edit at Wikipedia, so editing while logged out doesn't help your case. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:04, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Dear Cyphoidbomb, Please forgive me for my mistake. I have now understood the copyright policy. I request you to unblock me. If I do this mistake again please block me that time. If I said something wrong, forgive me

Decline reason:

In the above unblock requests, you were twice told "you will need to explain your understanding of copyright and the copyright policy, in sufficient detail that we can be sure you have a thorough grasp of how copyright works on Wikipedia", but you have still not done so - merely saying you understand it is not sufficient. Also, you have not properly addressed your block evasion.

I'm sorry to say it, but I'm beginning to think that your command of English is not sufficient for you to be working on the English language Wikipedia - you certainly do not appear to understand what you are being told. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:47, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
