That's quite alright. Read WP:PEACOCK and WP:SYN. The other things you mention were sourced. The extrapolation of that into "widely acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and influential guitarists of his time." was unsourced and added nothing to the article. There wouldn't be anything wrong with a general sentence backing up what the article says, as long as that sentence is sourced. Contentious information has to be sourced, whether it generalises or not. Your latest edit is a very poor choice of words - "almost mythical"? Using a badly written source is unencyclopedic. The follow-up paragraphs explained Green's reputation perfectly well without a pseudo-journalistic exaggeration in the opening paragraph. Green himself would hate it.
