UMMOA

This entity is one of numerous online fantasy countries invented by an unemployed New Yorker named Cesidio Tallini, who is also its sole "citizen". It exists as a website and has no substance beyond that. Tallini is widely known within the hobbyist micronation community as a loudmouthed crank, and as the boorish promoter of bizarre theories on subjects ranging from astrology to religion which are so incomprehensible as to border on raving lunacy. The news item reflects Tallini's poor English syntax, and was obviously written by him as a self-promotional piece. Nothing in the report itslf bears any relationship to reality. Tallini has certainly never "legally invaded" (a completely nonsensical term in any case) the United States, and he has most certainly not occupied any island, atoll or any other piece of land anywhere on Earth. While Tallini's activities are entertaining to a certain degree, WP cannot promote his outrageous delusional nonsense as though it constitutes accurate, factual reportage, because it does not. --Gene_poole (talk) 16:20, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

• I personally believe most micronationalists are exccentrics, and while Tallini seems to have certain difficulties on expressing his ideas, Gene Poole aka George Cruickshank, is no exception despite what he seems to think of himself (perhaps even more excentric than Tallini as he seems believe he owns the entire micronational sphere and calls himself the Spangle of the Cosmos). If it is true Tallini is unemployed then Cruickshank is nothing but merely a salesman, there is no point on this sort of comment. What I do know is that Tallini has a project called Independent Long Island, a place where he lives and he is very active on the seccessionist leagues of the United States and for this he deserves some credit. Cruickshank on the other hand not only is known for harassing Tallini to the point of insanity but also any other micronationalist who happens to disagree with Cruickshank's abuses, and his harassment goes to the point of calling local police on other micronationalists whenever they declare seccession so Cruickshank shoud refrain from criticising fellow micronationalists when he himself never secceeded from Australia, his ranch is not a free state, he lives confortably on his apartment (former and the true Atlantium), he still pays taxes to the Australian government while waving to the citizens of Sidney from his apartment window as if they would be his own subjects (see the comedic video done about Atlantium on its page), not to mention he is not only the first but also created a sockpuppet in here to proclaim second in command on his micronation(?!?) My name is Jon-lawrence Langer. I was part of Westarctica from the time it was called the Achean Territories until the coronation of Phillip, the second Grand Duke. I left in a huff for the Dominion of British West Florida at that time. It would really be a shame for Travis's dream to have gone down the tubes.

I still hold claim to a chunk of Westarctica. I collect titles and degrees from various sources on the net. Forvik

In my opinion, the Forvik micronation is certainly sufficiently noteworthy to justify the existence of a dedicated WP article - however, in keeping with the established naming convention the article should reflect the "official" name of the entity, namely Crown Dependency of Forvik. This, [1], if it wasn't vandalism (and vandalism of this type is very common), then my mistake - but if it was that then it was just a mistake, nothing more - I use Wikipedia's templates, and there is no policy that states I have to notify you, so I definitely won't get banned. Yes i had some trouble with wikipedia in the past but i came back to it to give it another go. I'm not as hot headed as i was the first time around! I'm still getting used to how wikipedia actually works. I've also noticed my micronation's site may be playing up which wouldn't have looked good for a new post anyway. By the looks of it this: WP:MICRONATION is to make standardized articles to do with micronations to help people post and to help people looking through them. I shall give it a good read over, thanks. p.s. i am head of state, the micronation is growing steadily.

Suggestion

Given all your work in recent months on various micronation articles, I'd like to make a suggestion. In terms of seeking good or featured article status, it would seem to me that the best candidate is the Micronation article itself. It hasn't properly been worked on in years, and is currently a bit untidy and disorganised, in my opinion. If cleaned up, partly rewritten, properly referenced and more widely illustrated with pix I think it could be a really worthy candidate for good/featured status status. Agree, and have said so on the article's talk page. By using words like "insignificant" in the intro, the article is ASKING for speedy deletion under criterion A7: "An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant." The categories farrago

Every now and then some superior intellect decides to make it their personal crusade to put on one of these little "micronations don't belong in WP" theatre pieces, spewing more condescending righteous outrage than an army of fire-and-brimstone preachers as they go. This latest one's no different from any of the others. We're already up the bit in the script where our "hero" has exposed the "dastardly plot", and gleefully anticipates the demise of the "evil ones". Reality inevitably intrudes on this narrative fantasy however, resulting in the problem going away, the mess getting cleaned up, and life getting back to normal for another 18 months. Micronations

Hi there. The list looks good but there are a few WP:MOS breaches, such as the use of hyphens instead of en-dashes for page ranges, bold links in the lead etc. You may wish to expand the lead as well and consider an image. Also, when referring to the Lonely Planet, no need to repeat all the info, such as title, isbn etc each time - make one general reference and then refer to it by author name and page number subsequently. My advice would be to take it to a peer review where most of these will be ironed out. Then check it against WP:WIAFL, and finally bring it to WP:FLC. Good luck! Image tagging issue

I notice that a number of flags are being tagged by bots for not having a fair use justification. Each fair use image needs to include a separate fair use justification for every article in which it appears. Category mayhem

Please be aware that someone seems to be going crazy with categories again. Hi OCSBG, regarding GP, this was the AfD that got him into trouble [3] and you can check out his talk page history for the rest. Basically he was frustrated and feuding with an editor and was a bit too outspoken. :) I'd like to offer him my support and encouragement, but he was frustrated enough that he seemed to need a break...

Regarding the Micronation issue, it is a bit tricky because as was the case with Westarctica, if it's not made clear in the article what a particular micronation is (ie. a land claim that isn't officially recognized) it can be quite misleading. Micro-nation implies tiny nation, but this is not what they are. And including a wikilink isn't enough. They are more like unrecognized land claims. There are articles on topics with fictional or unofficial aspects, but I think it just needs to be made clear the nature of the subject. Garden Gnome Liberationists was at AfD recently, but once it was cleaned up, made encyclopedic and made clear that the Gnomes weren't real, everyone seemed satisfied. I'm happy to help. Generally my approach would be to try to clarify the intro sections to the actual articles, perhaps the project could agree generally on godo language to use in all of the respective articles. The Micronation article is already a kind of guide to the issue generally, but in the specific micronation articles because of the wording/ terminology of micronation, it isn't self-explanatory. I think the articles need to do more to make clear what they are and are not. In the case of Westarctica people buying coins might look up the information and I think it's important they realize what the coins represent. Full disclosure if you will.

Thinking about it some more, your idea of the template might be cool and perhaps could have some kind of clear statement along the lines of: "micronations are not recognized by world governments" or "Micronations are land claims that have not been recognized as independent states." Hi, I would like to know if you are a member of any micronation, or if it was you who wrote the article abouyt Vikesland, as there seems to be a part of the text that sounds very unlikely to be true, as I do not believe they allow marriage with animals in any way on that micronation, at least I have not seen it anywhere.

Hi I would like to know if George Cruickshank is the user who goes by the name of Viriditas, as it has already been proven George Cruickshank is Gene Poole, the alledged second citizen of his imaginary nation. It also seems that he is very active in preventing the opportunity for other micronationalists on wikipedia while his own online fantasy country fails the criteria he sets for other micronations to figure as an article. He also seems to be the main (if not the only) contributor and editor to the article about Atlantium what looks to me to be self promotional, so please enlightem me why he has an article in here when he is not even taken seriously inside micronationalism, besides of course his own claims. Proposed deletion of Kingdom of Vikesland

The article Kingdom of Vikesland has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Micronation that appears never to have existed beyond a website, which is now defunct, and a small farm. One brief mention in a book does not meet WP:GNG.
