February 2020 edit

Please do not ever, ever "correct" direct quotations, even if they are full of actual errors. If it's how it was said, it's considered correct. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 18:05, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Audrey Assad, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The "show preview" button is right next to the "publish changes" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Jessicapierce (talk) 18:05, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Jessicapierce. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Chicken Ranch (Texas) have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the help desk. Thanks. Jessicapierce (talk) 18:05, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Jessicapierce:. Thank you for correcting me. Regarding your comments on the quote marks, are you talking about the Contrapasso page?NotJuggerNot (talk) 17:49, 18 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Jessicapierce: I am really sorry, I was busy with my exams for the past 2 weeks. Even though I had replied to you a while back, I didn't really know how to ping you. I had to google it tbh. Again, thanks for correcting me. Can I ping you in the future if I need any help? There's definitely a lot that I'd love to learn. TIANotJuggerNot (talk) 20:22, 29 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, I'm sorry as well for this late reply - it's been a busy few weeks and my "reply-to" list is out of control. I'm looking back at the edits, and I think the Contrapasso one was fine - looks like you added the accurate translation.
The edit I was referring to above (and should have been more clear about!) was at Chicken Ranch (Texas). Under the "Closure" section, there's a quote by Zindler which you altered. No big deal, just something to avoid going forward.
Please do feel to touch base if you'd like help with anything. My Wikipedia expertise is patchy as I mostly do easy fixes and avoid the actual content creation, but I'm glad to hep if I can. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 20:35, 11 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

History of the Pakistan Super League moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, History of the Pakistan Super League, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. –eggofreason(talk · contribs) 22:25, 10 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar edit

The Pakistan Barnstar of National Merit
Great work with creating History of the Pakistan Super League. This is an article I had given some thought of writing many years back, but never got around to it. Keep up the good efforts. Cheers! Mar4d (talk) 12:34, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Wow, thanks a lot for this. This certainly means a lot. Is there a way I can put this on my user page?NotJuggerNot (talk) 15:03, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

AfC notification: Draft:Haitian Flag Day has a new comment edit

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Haitian Flag Day. Thanks! SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 04:14, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi SpicyMilkBoy, thanks for your response. Can you please help me how I can fix this? The source you mentioned seems to be the most complete and relevant piece of information which is why I have tried to use it for the most part. I have read the instructions on how to fix it, can you give me some more practical tips? TIA NotJuggerNot (talk) 13:43, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Update: I have edited the changes that you highlighted. But you have suggested that there are other changes too. Would be highly obliged if you could help me identify them? ThanksNotJuggerNot (talk) 14:31, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your work. I've accepted the draft because I don't think the paraphrasing is close enough to be an issue any more, though it could still use some copyediting. I think the issue arises from trying to follow the source too closely. Rather than repeating all of the information in the source, you should try to write a high-level summary of it (see WP:Summary style). It's often helpful to use additional sources, even if they contain the same information, so that you are not relying too heavily on the same source. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 16:49, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hey SpicyMilkBoy thanks for the review and your positive response. Is there a way I can seek help from the community regarding this? I know Teahouse, but there must be some other way too, I guess?NotJuggerNot (talk) 03:48, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, I can't really think of anywhere besides the Teahouse. You can keep submitting articles through AfC, which ensures that an experienced editor will look at the article before it goes live, but some reviewers are not as thorough as others and might not catch close paraphrasing. There's a tool called Earwig that I use to check for copyright issues when reviewing articles; you can access it here. It compares the text of the article to the sources and displays them side by side, highlighting phrases that match. You might find this helpful for identifying close paraphrasing in your articles (though keep in mind that it looks for exact matches, so sentences where a few words are changed, while still considered close paraphrasing, won't be identified). June 2020 edit

Hello, I'm Robvanvee. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, XO (record label), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Robvanvee 06:44, 6 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
