adminship edit

Hey. I've noticed some of your edits, and I think you have gone a great job at Wikipedia thus far. That being said, I was wondering if you would consider running for adminship over at WP:RFA. I'll gladly nominate you if you wish to take the plunge. Let me know of your reply :)--Wizardman 00:10, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alright. In the meantime, do a bit of XfD participation, there's a handful of admins who jump over people who don't have much there. As for the online symbol, there's a program for it, lemme try and find it in my monobook and I'll put it on yours.--Wizardman 03:10, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jonathon Band and userboxes edit

Hi, thankyou for reviewing the Band article, its been waiting quite a while! I have made the changes you suggested and replied them one by one on the talk page. I have however not done the inline citations as I do not agree with them. Under current WP:WIAGA criteria inline citation templates are not neccessary for GA. The criteria states that they are preferable for longer articles but are not required. Inline citation templates are a matter of personal or article preference - Wikipedia:Citation templates and they are not required by WP:CITE and are neither encouraged nor discouraged by any other Wikipedia citation guidelines.. Please feel free to change them yourself but it is not GA necessary. I believe that your other points have been answered. Thanks again.LordHarris 21:25, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

BTW, looking on your userpage I noticed you were able to count how many people used your userboxes. Could you please tell me how you do this? Thanks! LordHarris 21:35, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have addressed the other points you raised and commented on the lack of information in regards to parents, countries etc. Thanks for telling me about the userbox count, Ill give it a go tommorow! If you still have concerns about the Band article, drop me another message. Thanks again. LordHarris 23:16, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Just to say thank you for fixing those remaining spaces and for your comments to reach GA.

Upgrading info edit

Hi, I'm on a wiki-break due to technical problems, but soon I will have my new computer and will join you. What you are looking for is Template:Upgrading needed. Yes, it sounds good about free images. I think we should make project pages for further upgrading info instead of fighting it with templates. If you think templates are better, ask PhantomS. Rock Springs Massacre edit

I was wondering if you might lend some outside eyes to Rock Springs Massacre which I am soon to nominate for FA. Thanks for uploading Image:Thegoldencompassmp.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Years in film edit

Hi, there is a user, Banacek555, who is doing some changes in 2000 in film. As a result he had removed the year's Films released in 2000 section. The new system is full of thumbs, and the per date release have colorful months and images. I wish this could be discussed, as the series is huge, the images are in fair use only if used in the film article and the year's releases have taken me months to set up. By the way, Blofeld followed by Aussiepete are also making lists containing images (Argentine and Australian). I am still having problems with being on line to discuss extensively and to research in detail the goings-on. Can you please check if the use of images as done in these 3 lists is within fair use? Else we have to interfere before this spreads too far. Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 15:04, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationales for GA nommed articles edit

Okay, so the images to which I believe you are referring are some book cover images and the like. As I understand it, such cover images fall under fair use if they are used for discussion about the book, DVD, etc. Is there some special way in which you are suggesting that I indicate this rationale or are you thinking that this rationale isn't good enough? Let me know how you think I ought to proceed. Cheers, DickClarkMises 18:24, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Drew Carey Show category edit

Whether the category should end up recreated (assuming it's deleted) would depend on what articles get written. To warrant a category, a subject would need to have multiple articles that are not easily interlinked with each other through the texts of the articles. In most instances, articles relating to a TV series are easily interlinked through the show's article and each other and a category isn't needed. Otto4711 00:29, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Rescuers article edit

Alright, I've added rationales for all images save for one and that's the one advertising the upcoming special edition DVD. I don't know what to add to that image and have not been able to find any examples, could you help me? I've also added references for the two theories on the controversy section; one of them isn't what we'd consider "reliable", but we're talking about theories about something that has never been fully explained and by random people, so good references are not likely to be found. T.W. 20:06, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Very well, I'll keep working on the article and I will try to sort out the trivia section and place each statement under a different section, I'll also work on "blending" the bullet points into paragraph form. Thanks for your help! T.W. 20:38, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:1408 poster.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:1408 poster.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:05, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Real Irish Republican Army GA edit

Made most of the changes you suggested. I eventually went with the first infobox, because the second one was problematic, as the field for which conflict they participated in is mandatory and I lack the technical prowess to create an infobox without it. The problem is that technically the period of the Troubles ended in April 1998, and there isn't a simple term available for the current phase of history in Northern Ireland apart from Northern Ireland peace process, and they are very much not a participant in the process.

I'm now thinking that the "Objectives" and "Origins" sections may need swapping round. Previously the "Objectives" section had to come first, as it made little sense to document their actions without first explaining why they were doing what they were doing and what they sought to achieve. However now the "History" section has been split up it's possible to move things round slightly, but I thought I'd get your opinion first to be on the safe side. On the subject of the new sections any problems with the names of the headings let me know.

Images are tricky, because as you can probably imagine free ones are nigh on impossible to achieve. There are images available which may constitute fair use, for example the ones in these news stories - [1] [2] [3]. However I'm not sure if any of them are absolutely essential to the article and can be justified, so I'm wary of simply adding images for the sake of adding images. Any advice on this would be gratefully received. Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 14:02, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Film lists and front pages features= edit

Hey the number of film or film related articles on the front page in the last few weeks has been outstanding!! Frustratingly Casino Royale has been about 9 weeks FA nomination but they won't pass it - after the clear consensus last time the FA official restarted -its very annoying indeed. -Goldeneye is also up but I don't know if it is strong enough yet. Anyway I have added a new side template to the years in film which I feel are much more useful than those untidy year related plates. I hope everyone likes them. where is Hoverfish? Its very quiet without him. The film lists are starting to form very well:

UK, France, Spain and Italy and Argentina are developing well. Hope you are well and not facing too many exams. All the best and loook forward to hearing from you ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 14:40, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Han van Meegeren edit

I think that you must have been referring to footnotes when you quick failed my GA nomination "due to a lack of inline citations". By my count there are at least 45 inline citations throughout the article in the Harvard referencing style, corresponding to the 29 listed references at the bottom. While a few statements could probably do with a citation, I feel the amount of referencing in this article is comparable to other articles that have achieved GA status. Could you please take another look?--DO11.10 19:36, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is no problem, I figured that is what happened, thank you for your offer to re-review it. I did note a few places where a reference could be added, I shall do that quickly now, would you mind holding off for at least a few hours? (if you had planned to review it now?).
Some background on the article that might interest you when reviewing: 1) I translated this article from the German version, about half of the references came from that article, others were online references that I found myself. 2) The original German version used Harvard citations so I stuck with that. 3) I had considered switching to footnotes, but many of the original references included page numbers, it is not so easy (in my opinion) to work with page numbers in the footnote format, so again I left them as they were.
I look forward to your comments. I will let you know when I have finished referencing the few lonely bits. Cheers--DO11.10 21:59, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tepper School fair use rationale edit

Hi, saw your comment on the tepper school discussion pages regarding the fair use of the images. It is my understanding that in order for an image to meet fair use, it must first give a description of its copyright status (or lack thereof), as well as describe what purpose it serves in the article. For the images I, and others, have included in this article, we have given detailed descriptions of the copyright status (none are copyrighted, all are attribution license). In addition, each image has a description underneath it demonstrating what it adds to the article. Is there a particular image that is questionable? Let me know when you have a chance, thanks PadreNuestro 01:35, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Saw your comment, I thought those would have automatically passed since they were logos. I will make that fact VERY clear so as to clean up any confusion. Also, in regards to the Merton Miller photo, I'll dig into it more. Its a busy week so it might not get done until Friday or Saturday. PadreNuestro 02:57, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Casino Royale edit

Yep - a disastrous nomination in the piepline since early April. The first nomination clearly showed the overwhelming support including from yourself, but it was restarted but very odd reasons and now the consensus isn't so clear chiefly because User:Sandy Georgia continues to oppose trivially. I haven't toucched the artiicle for over a month - it is a great article but not officially an FA yet. -still! Hope you are not bogged down with too much uni study, -shame about our core film images being deleted - the film reels - however I was discussing with Wise Kwai that it might give us a good chance to create some public domain cool new ones. Having heavily edited the above article since it was GA'd, I'm surprised that grammar seems not to be a criterion. This article veered wildly from singular to plural, often within the same sentence, and surely should have been cleaned up first. This isn't a criticism of User:Corvus coronoides, who has done a great deal of work, but is endemic to articles about NAm birds. It's not a criticism of you either, I'm just surprise that the rules are so lax. Jimfbleak 07:14, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
