advice

As reviewing administrator, I've been wondering a little at your article, which seems to contain a good deal of duplication, the sort of duplication that we sometimes think promotional. The style doesn't match our usual style either; we're an encyclopedia and we try for a somewhat regular look. We aim at readability, not eye-catching design, and use text variations only to a limited extent. You seem to have written the article in html, not wikitext--that is OK, for our system does handle most html codes, and the ones you used are easily converted. We don't indent paragraphs.. The picture at the top should instead be used in WP:INFOBOX -- see other pages for entertainers and copy the format. But the main reason I'm writing is because I'm fixing the page, and I want to make sure you realize it would not be a good idea to restore your unique format. . and, btw, make certain that nothing there is a copy or Close paraphrase of material published elsewhere. If there is, rewrite that part from scratch, changing not just the words, but the arrangement into sentences and the sequence of ideas. DGG ( talk ) 04:01, 21 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

September 2018

  Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Brigid Harrington. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Mywiki2664. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Shannon Harrington, and Brigid Harrington you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

Hello,

I have no external relationship with this page or any page I helped work on. I wanted to try my hand at Wikipedia. I worked hard on this to be accurate and thorough and I have not done many because it is a lot of work. The actor is well established over many years and known throughout the region and country. I believe the page has strong merit which is why I spent time on it. I took a great deal of time researching all the sourcing and I think my work was very beneficial to the entire Wikipedia community. If there are issues on formatting I would hope someone else would make those corrections. But the information is completely valid and merits publication. Thanks.

Mywiki2664 talk 28 October 2020 (UTC)

Mywiki2664 Since your only contributions are related to Brigid Harrington and her sister Shannon Harrington, your claim of no connection stretches credulity. It is better to cop to it. If you are directly connected to or paid by the subjects, that doesn't mean that their articles automatically have to come down. But declaring any conflicts of interest is imperative. Wikipedia has ways such as WP:AFC available to folks connected with the subject. — Ad Meliora TalkContribs 20:21, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Ad Meliora and thank you for your comment. I simply created a Wikipedia page years ago and in learning about that subject I discovered enough sourcing, notability and verifiability to create another related page. I would like to do more and may decide to do so in the future. This is not something I do for profit of any kind and I think the work is transparent and speaks for itself. Thanks again!--Mywiki2664 (talk) 20:43, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Mywiki2664: Are you are a family member? The reason for this question is that the photographs on both of the sisters articles, were apparently shot by you, and uploaded as your "own work". Please explain. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 21:21, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Netherzone. I do own those photographs as I am a professional photographer. Thanks --Mywiki2664 (talk) 21:36, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

@Mywiki2664: Were you hired to take them? Netherzone (talk) 21:39, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello again Netherzone. It was pro bono. Thanks.--Mywiki2664 (talk) 21:40, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

IMDB

Hi. IMDB is not a WP:RS. If you want to save the Harrington articles, I strongly recommend that you replace the IMDB refs with sources from news reviews of her performances or other acceptable sources. I'm trying to help you. -- Ssilvers (talk) 06:02, 1 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Ssilvers and thank you very much -- I really appreciate your help. I will go in and do that now. --Mywiki2664 (talk) 06:01, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
