your editing of Tirath Das Dogra

Dear Miniapolis, it is fine and I appreciate your Editing...thanks...... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.161.42.132 (talk) 01:13, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you, and I'm glad to help. Most of what I did was to bring the article in line with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, and the biographies of living persons policy is especially cautious in this respect. All the best, Miniapolis 02:06, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Fix for GOCE March 2014 drive

I forgot to update the leaderboard when I had 21 articles copyedited instead of 20, so User:Baffle gab1978 was not included in the leaderboard when they should've been. Please reward them the barnstar accordingly, thanks :) -Newyorkadam (talk) 22:59, 1 April 2014 (UTC)Newyorkadam

Deletion of Mike Wrathell entry

Dear Miniapolis,

I was just about to add some more supporting material to the Mike Wrathell entry and see that it was just deleted. Please check to see if it was done before the 7 day time period. I had posted an objection, by the way and listed links. If possible please put it back up and give me a 24 hour time extension to provide supporting links and other material. My mom is in the hospital so I have not had time to work on the issue as much I normally would. Mr. Wrathell's art has been referenced in the Chicago Tribune and a few other sites of note, by the way. 1. http://366weirdmovies.com/king-of-pluto-2004/ 2. http://www.filmthreat.com/reviews/8136/

Thanks. Sowff (talk) 14:23, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Sowff PS. I am not sure if the four tildes go before or after my name. I am assuming before one's name. Not sure how to contact you. But I will come back to this talk page. Sowff (talk) 14:23, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Sowff

Although it was indeed past the seven-day prod period, I restored the article (since you seem to have extenuating circumstances) and removed the prod tag (which you couldn't do, as the article's creator). In future, requests for undeletion is where you want to go. Frankly, I'm not sure the article's subject meets WP:CREATIVE; the article itself needs a lot of work, and has been around long enough that it should've been done (you re-created it shortly after its 2006 deletion). With only one passing-mention inline citation (which only meets the basic BLP requirement), you should try to incorporate content from the external links into the article with inline citations; you also need mainstream-media sources (such as newspapers) to demonstrate notability. I reformatted your post so it didn't run off the page; to indent a paragraph just type a colon, and the four tildes automatically format your signature. I wish your mom a speedy recovery. which & that

A grammar hint -> [1]. One of my pet grammar peeves is confusing which and that. WCMemail 20:03, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the link. Miniapolis 20:42, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Sorry to nag but in British English you would capitalise titles when they refer to the Queen and as the Govenor is the representative of the Queen and as such is capitalised. Similarly Government, Chief Executive etc would be capitalised in British English as they represent Her Majesty. WCMemail 21:41, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
WP:JOBTITLES. Miniapolis 22:22, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Pinging me [2] via Marshal's talk page for a passive-aggressive insult was a bit of a WP:DICKish move on your part. I apologise if you think I was being "annoying" or "irksome", for the record I was actually going to compliment the work you'd done in improving the article. I have to say you have better writing skills than I have, however, there are differences in British English where you made a mistake and I was trying to help by pointing it out.

or

is correct but

is wrong

Probably an over-reaction on my part to revert you, for which I apologise, I guess we can all get a bit WP:DICKish at times. I note that you corrected folkright as well, so again maybe I should have been a little slower there with the undo button as my revert put back a mistake there.

If you delve deeper into WP:JOBTITLES you will note Honorifics and styles of nobility should normally be capitalized, e.g. Her Majesty, His Holiness. (capitalised in British English FYI). As a handy reference [3]. A rather irritating quirk of British English is that titles such as Governor are usually capitalised since the Governor is the representative of the sovereign, equally it is Her Majesty's Government or simply Government.

Please don't assume I'm looking over your shoulder being "picky" or trying to take over your copy editing role, I was genuinely trying to help. WCMemail 23:14, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

I know our intentions are the same (to improve the article). All the best, Miniapolis 23:26, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
I have restored the edit I reverted and just fixed it as I should have done in the first place. Apologies again, its a pet peeve of mine and I probably over-reacted. Sorry we got off on the wrong foot. WCMemail 23:28, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
No apology needed, and since I'm an American I appreciate your minimising my mangling of British English :-). All the best, Miniapolis 23:32, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
I'm glad the differences were cleared. It can be difficult to fully express our feelings through text, but we all have good intentions. [:)]
To answer your question, everyone is going to be looking over your shoulder at the article (that is, everyone that has it on their watchlist). It's a very controversial article. I say be bold and do what you have to do, but don't be surprised if you run into any kind of walls.
But WCM and other good contributors in the article can be of help. Again, I'm glad you amended any possible confusions.
Thank you very much for taking on the difficult task.
Best regards.--MarshalN20 Talk 00:09, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

April–May newsletter error

I see you're manually fixing these errors. Would you like me to run a script to fix them? AGK [•] 18:37, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Oh, yes please; I didn't know that was possible, and I sure as hell don't know how to do it :-). I'm in the middle of a copyedit from the GOCE requests page, and doing the corrections manually is time-consuming. The mailing list is here. Let me know if you have any problems, and words can't express my appreciation. All the best, Miniapolis 18:45, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
FWIW, I've gotten up to User talk:AusTerrapin; it would've taken me until the start of the next drive... It's just the |} on a new line at the end, to close the table. Thanks again and all the best, Miniapolis 18:50, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Got it. I'll take care of this tonight, and let you know when it's all fixed. And I've been too busy to take part in the last few drives, so don't mention it (or consider this my penitence) :-). AGK [•] 18:52, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
You can't stop me from giving credit where it's due :-), and the beauty of Wikipedia is that all our skill sets complement each other's. Please don't rush with this; most of the pages I saw didn't have any posts after this one (yet), and that's when the problem becomes obvious (unfortunately, it was undetectable in preview mode). All the best, Miniapolis 19:03, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
All   Done. :-) AGK [•] 21:27, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks again from the bottom of my heart. Hope you like barnstars! All the best, Miniapolis 22:23, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
And if you still have the script, when you get a chance please send it to me; I have to learn how to fish :-). Miniapolis 22:25, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
My pleasure :-). There are several kicking around, but I used User:Timotheus Canens/massedit.js. To install, just add it to your .js user page (in the same format as in here), then navigate to Special:MassEdit. It's quite powerful, so use cautiously. Hope this helps! AGK [•] 07:41, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the script. Don't worry; my natural caution generally keeps me out of trouble :-). All the best, Miniapolis 18:05, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

need help

I am needing help with a situation where I have been doing a major copyedit at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ink_Master_(season_4)

I have been putting up the GOCEinuse tag to prevent edit conflicts from other editors. Now today a user https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hullaballoo_Wolfowitz has called our GOCEinuse tag "a rag"

Perhaps glance over the page history and you will see what has happened. I put in a request at page protection, but I cannot think of anything else to do. I really don't want my major copyediting work of or the past day or so to be trashed. The article looks much better than when I started. Do you know an admin that I could ask for help? I don't remember for sure if you are one or not. Thanks. Please try to help me save the work that has been done on the article.

Thanks! Carriearchdale (talk) 03:25, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I would remove the GOCE template and take a 24-hour (or longer) break from the article to gain some perspective and allow each of you to calm down a bit. Then come back, try to re-read the whole article with fresh eyes, and see if it's worth continuing to work on. If the other editor appears to be editing actively, continue your break until that editor moves on to something else. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:58, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for getting here first, Jonesey. Ah, the irresistible force meets the immovable object. Feels like Monday :-). I'm familiar with HW as one of our more combative editors; Carrie, with all the pages that need copyediting it's not worth the effort (and the time) fighting over this one. In the meantime, I'll ping HW (adding to their humongous, unarchived talk page; I gave up trying to find a thread where you'd contacted them). Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 14:03, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Carrie, I didn't see anything from you on HW's talk page except an ANI notification from last month; SOP in disputes about editor behavior is to contact them on their talk page first. All the best, Miniapolis 14:17, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi Miniapolis,

Thanks for taking the time to look over this incident. I do not take the time to post anything on the HW talk after a month or so ago when I took him to ani. At that time I did follow what you call sop and tried to discuus a matter with him there. Every time I posted a note he reverted my post. The only one he did not revert was the notice for ani I posted there. And then he accused me of edit warring his talk page when I was trying to discuss a matter with him. After HW was warned back then he stayed away from me and my daily volunteer work here. For some reason yesterday he showed back up following from article to article I was working on reverting or undoing many of my edits. You are right about that one as being combative!

Thanks for looking it over and Ty to Jonesy as well!

I hope you all will have a most fabulous day!!! ciao!!! Carriearchdale (talk) 14:37, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Miniapolis. You have new messages at Hullaballoo Wolfowitz's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
(edit conflict)No problem, Carrie. I didn't know when I first replied that you two seem to rub each other the wrong way for some reason. That sometimes happens, and it's probably best to stay out of each other's way (at least for now). HW can be brusque, but they've been around for a long time and it's a good idea to listen to what they're saying; just turn a deaf ear to how they may be saying it. People don't often realize how what they type appears to the recipient. All the best, Miniapolis 15:37, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
It's not "for some reason". It's because I caught "Carrie" committing gross, inexcusable BLP violations in two articles and repeatedly reinserting them until I took her to ANI. And she now complains about being persecuted by The Big Bad Wolfowitz whenever I attempt to deal with her substandard edits and inappropriate behavior. Reply to your previous comments on my talk page. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 16:23, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your talk-page reply. Believe me, I see their tendentiousness too; my point is that while it's easier to dispute another's edits in edit summaries, it's more constructive to do so on their talk page (which I see you've done). All the best, Miniapolis 16:40, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

For the record

hw has been warned in the past regarding his interactions with me. Just a few of the statements hw is making around wikipedia: "Carrie Archdale" has a well-established track record of disruptive editing and retaliatory, groundless complaints. Indulging such behavior only promotes further disruption" [4]

WRONG - hw has some weird obsessive interest in harassing me and stalking around from article to article and trying to kick up a big disturbance. hw is quite tendentious is his editing on wikipedia himself. See here:

"put the notification template on the reported editors talk page, even though when I did only that before, I was accused of edit warring on the reported users talk page, and accused of repeatedly re-posting the same info on said page after the editor himself reverted the notices each time I placed another one. (placed as the personal attacks went on) As the personal attacks went on I posted on the offenders talk page templates to please stop a couple of times. You certainly can go back through the history and diffs at that talk page if you like, or for my and your convenience I kept a log of everything that I posted on that talk page." [5]

I agree Miniapolis, it is more constructive to dispute another's edits on their talk page.

Have a wonderful Tuesday! ciao!!! Carriearchdale (talk) 05:52, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Carrie, you haven't been actively editing for that long (although when I was a noob, I sure didn't know my way to ANI :-)) and as a GOCE coordinator I remember your recent problems there. I don't think HW is out to "get" you, but WP has editing standards which you can ignore at your peril. Please read (and heed) WP:BLP and WP:IDHT; your editing borders on the tendentious. Miniapolis 13:52, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
