Dear Drmies. I request to be unblocked as it is an unfair thing to do. The Slamdance FF Wikipedia page looked more like a publicity ad than the page of a professional film festival. I explained over and over what the issue was. No one has responded. Indeed Wikipedia is an encyclopedic source that I use for my own research. But it’s wrong to use it to publicize and aggrandize yourself without regard to truth. I am a truth seeker. Also I pointed out that the festival is used by its well-connected founders to promote their own films making it difficult for minority indie filmmakers to gain access. I don’t believe that Slamdance FF has ever had a minority filmmaker selected to it. Much less a minority woman. To be quiet is to be complicit. I still have wrist issues. Thank you. I thank you, sir or madam. Life is tough for women filmmakers because, for instance, all the things I've done for the guys have never been returned in kind -- on the contrary, they've tried to destroy me. Orlando Jiménez-Leal

A tag has been placed on Orlando Jiménez-Leal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Your comments on my username's frontpage.

I have expressed my views on the subject before to, please, keep the Cuban Americans page because at the very least, it helps with research -- which is what Wikipedia is all about. I started doing research on a poet listed on this page based on the fact that it was there -- as prior to that I never even knew she'd existed. Mig 15:56, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Mig, Kfc1864 has nominated your userpage for deletion; please see here: Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Migdiachinea. Please comment if you wish. In the meanwhile, I have restored an earlier version of your page because of copyright concerns and because Wikipedia is not an archive service or a web hosting facility. Please review guidelines for userpages. Please understand that userpages still belong to Wikipedia and are only made available to editors to assist them in their work on the project and to facilitate communication with other editors, and it really is not appropriate to use Wikipedia as a free web-hosting and archiving facility. If you require a free web-hosting facility, we can recommend some free webspace providers where you would be free to archive all of this information, the letters and notes and such as you wish. If the material is related to your work on Wikipedia, you could place a link on your userpage to your webspace, but it is not appropriate to try to host it all on Wikipedia. I hope you understand this, so we can close the request to delete your userpage. Thanks, Sarah 16:45, 4 October 2007 (UTC

Dear WhisperToMe (talk): I consider my being on Wikipedia a privilege for which I'm honored. That being said, if I have something to say on any subject, I say so in an article somewhere and I sign my name to it. Whatever small edits I have done here and there, I also sign my name. I was, thus, wondering if within your high-tech level of WP knowledge, you may be able to tell which computer the LAUSD comments came from? I have never discussed my password with anyone at all, in fact, I have since the incident changed my password. I am, however, concerned that someone with a high level of computer sophistication may be watching me closely and hacking my password at whim. And that this spammer, in question, may use me as a tool to further his/her cause, whatever that may be. Please, let me know. In the meantime have a very Happy New First Day of 2008.Mig 21:21, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Figuring out where the LAUSD comments came from

Mrs. Chinea, you will have to ask a Wikipedia:Developer that question - Regular users and sysops alone cannot determine the IP address of a registered user (including yourself and the person who pretended to be you).

Anyhow, I would suggest avoiding using your account while on public computers and checking your own computer for keyloggers. Wikipedia has a technique to disable "brute force" password crackers (The "repeat the words in this image" trick), so if someone repeatedly finds your passwords, it could be due to a keylogger. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:08, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanx, WhisperToMe for your response and I will take appropriate measures to see if I learn more about what happened and how to identify the hacker. I used my account here while I was working at LAUSD, but have never used a "public" computer. I wonder if the problem comes from LAUSD, given the rage I've seen and the subject matter. Oh, BTW, I'm "Ms." because Chinea is my dad's family name. Thanx for addressing me so respectfully, however. Mig 01:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Yes, WhisperToMe I saw that. But since the case has not been decided, my benefit of the doubt would fall with the teacher. Marking Castro's Stepping Down From Power - February 19, 2008

Castro steps down.

After 50 years of communist dictatorship, I tend to think that the island will move to the future eventually and in that regard there's much to do. It's the glass half-full. Therefore, I feel bittersweet about the news. The practical Cuban infrastructure (streets, electrical, architecture, plumbing, etc., etc., etc.,), is mostly gone -- whereas a strong government-based legacy of repression and political infrastructure remains. Cuban-exiles, the least understood of all U.S. ethnic minorities, and their Cuban-American offspring everywhere in the world, would be right to respond cautiously to all the rhetoric that will surely follow.

It's probably a good time to get some guava pastries at some local Cuban bakery and have a quiet private celebration -- I'm having half a glass of wine.

Love to all --

Migdia Chinea --

Blacklist

Users are not placed on blacklists - links are.

The blacklist notice should state which link is offending - You can remove it, comment it out (Surround it with <!-- on the first side and --> on the second), or put nowiki on it. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a screenshot of the error message? WhisperToMe (talk) 22:40, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The page said that lulu . com was blacklisted. There was no blacklist attempt against you. What happened is that a previous post had lulu.com and that was added to the spam filter. In other words, an edit would not pass UNLESS the edit included a nowiki, a comment out, or removal of the lulu link. WhisperToMe (talk) 01:10, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

You didn't do anything wrong. You weren't intending to spam - See, it just happens that the URL was blacklisted long after you posted it - The thing is that nobody would be able to post on that talk page until the blacklist URL was dealt with. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:44, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Someone added it to a URL blacklist. I forget where it is but I know Wikipedia keeps a list of URLs to blacklist. Regarding small text, I'll have to see. - it's probably due to a <small> without a corresponding </small> WhisperToMe (talk) 18:12, 30 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lemme see if I can fix the section - In the meantime it's not a good idea to post large chunks of newspaper articles like that, as they are copyrighted. Also, we can only report on the tort letter thing once it becomes a legal case documented in the media. WhisperToMe (talk) 21:03, 2 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Okay. Can you post a link to the article? My letter is not yet in the media, so you're right. I posted it out of anger at their denial, for example, "teaching" Mandarin when the students cannot even write English. Dear Orange Mike -- although it is my film, I think it's a subject that is timely with humanistic values. The quality of the film is excellent and it's been selected to 24 film festivals worldwide. Of note, is the fact that no one at UCLA had been able to accomplish this while a student at UCLA -- hence their Bruin article. So it attests as to the value of the production and the subject-matter. I have the "Honorable Mention" logo, which they sent to me from their email address and I've selected, copied and pasted here with so-so results. I am unable AND disinterested in manipulating stuff. If there are 3.7 million articles, as you've pointed out, why are you being so nitpicky about this one item that I've tried to verify in several different ways? I mean, I have sent emails to Wikipedia commons and attachments -- I don't know what you want from me that you apparently do not expect from others. So is this ABOUT ME? Can you tell me why you're dismantling "anonymous (street meat)" bit by bit? I think it's unfair that I'm called to defend personal attacks when people are ganging up on me and calling me a liar just as I'm trying -- with limited expertise -- to comply with a request. I'm a real human being with feelings and you're singling me out. Mig (talk) 21:58, 10 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I thank you for your help. The Huffington Post article about "anonymous (street meat)" and the banks will be published around Nov. 1st. If any of this is still up, I'll link it. Meanwhile, my stomach hurts. My intentions are honorable. It's a good film and it's going to be exposed to more publicity once the Huffington Post article comes out and the film is selected to various cause festivals. I thank you for your trouble as I move on. Kind regards, Mig (talk) 22:51, 10 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

KEEP anonymous (street meat)

Dear friends -- the image of the eye was restored (gun image was not) -- all images are available in "anonymous (street meat)" Google images, please, take a look. https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox/132e812637a7fb8e

However, the file was truncated. Here's an example of different treatment -- the short "Saturday Evening Special" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Special_(film).

Meranwhile, I was interviewed by someone from the Huffington Post yesterday. The interview centered on my inspiration for "anonymous (street meat)" -- a 2-year ordeal with Bank of America. With demonstrations and movements like "Occupy Wall Street" going on against Wall Street and the too-big-to-fail banks, thet script for "anonymous (street meat)" was ahead of time by having a plot that dealt with bank abuse with harrowing images. That's why the film has been well received at festivals abroad -- in Seoul Korea, for one, it was screened in over 14,000 monitors throughout the city. The HP article will link up to "anonymous (street meat)" and it's schedule for publication on November 1st, or earlier.

The articles on the Daily Bruin and the upcoming one on the Huffington Post are of relevancy socio-politically, so it's not without importance. The Bruin article itself is not quoted, but if anyone reads it, they can see that the short has social significance because its conception came out of issues that are being in the country's political sphere right now -- events that occurred to me. But it appears that people delete without first reading or considering. The fact that I'm a Hispanic woman is alone of some note because I'm part of a tiny minority of filmmakers. That I'm a female professional screenwriter of Hispanic background who returned to UCLA for a Master's after working as a professional for years may also be interesting to some historians. I, personally, would be interested in reading a Wikipedia page about a notable Eskimo female filmmaker with a short in 24 film festivals and in some similar circumstances, for example. If there are any.

Here's one instance used as an example of editorial bias: The Saturday Night Special Wikipedia page, for one, doesn't have any references -- it is instead laudatory of that film to the point that when I happened upon it, I was surprised to see that and tried to flag it for an edit, not a deletion, an edit. Some people here have defended that film and reinstate it. Additionally, that page quotes from articles that are not linked. And even if they were linked, why quote stuff that reads like a publicity page.

"anonymous (street meat)" is important and should be maintained for the reference of other Latino and/or women filmmakers, as well as the general public at large.

Thank you for your support in this endeavor --

Kind regards, Mig (talk) 16:24, 11 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Have you read through [[2]] I think it might help you to understand the problems you are having keeping the article. You might also be interested to see that Saturday Night Special (film) has been nominated for deletion. All good wishesTheroadislong (talk) 16:41, 11 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Understood

Dear theroadislong:

I think that when the Huffington Post article comes out, it will give it further historical context -- already discussed in the Bruin piece. Please, note that nothing from the Bruin article was quoted on the Wikipedia page. That all I tried to do was clarify the text in an objective -- not editorial -- manner. That nothing was submitted prior to the film being selected to numerous festivals. That I have not benefitted in any way from the film being here. But if anyone out there looks up Hispanic filmmakers, it would be nice that they could see there's a woman laboring in the filed and that her film had socio-political relevance. "Saturday Night Special" with all due respect and in my humble opinion, has no social relevancy -- it doesn't break any ground. It's a commercial venture with a Wikipedia page written for the purpose of publicizing its fimmaker. For that purpose, there are other venues.

You know, the people who break ground for others are worthy of note. I could name a few that come to mind -- and these have often been people who were not in and of themselves famous or accomplished. These are ordinary people who do things before anyone else and against the tide of indifference or discrimination -- usually both -- and facilitate the efforts of others who will follow. They are called trail blazers for that reason.

Thank you and have a great day -- Mig (talk) 17:14, 11 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

FYI, Saturday Night Special (film) was deleted. It went through the AfD process a few years ago and was deleted. It was recreated afterward with no substantial change, so it was deleted again. For your film, please see WP:GNG. There needs to be significant coverage from numerous reliable sources about the film. The Bruin piece is not enough. Erik (talk | contribs) 03:39, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I know what you're saying Erik. There will be an article on the Huffinton Post in a couple of weeks, which may trigger more articles and I don't know what's out there from the festivals because they're all different countries in various languages. I thank you for your contribution. I'm making a film "Ninth Floor" which takes on where "anonymous (street meat)" left off. I need to put a lot of my effort in that -- even if sleep is coming as a luxury these days and I'm rarely able to get any rest. Kind regards -- Mig (talk) 04:43, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Small Edit In Your Userpage

I have done a small edit in your userpage. There was a notice: ''Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page, but the references will not show without a {{Reflist}} template or a <references /> tag'';, I have added the reflist in the page. Since it is not a Wikipedia article, and a userpage, you may revert the change if you think you don't need it there. Thanks! --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 04:04, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Saturday Night Special

I saw your message at Talk:Saturday Night Special (film) and replied there. I don't know whether you saw the reply, but as the page was tagged for deletion I kept a copy so that I could post it here if need be:

I suspect that the difference between this article and Anonymous (Street Meat) is that Wikipedia has better systems in place today for reviewing new articles than it did back in 2007. That's only a guess, because I only started editing seriously in 2010. This article slipped through in 2007 and hasn't attracted much attention until now. There's no deliberate "double standard"; it wasn't "allowed to remain", it just wasn't noticed.
This article, Saturday Night Special (film) could still be rescued and expanded if it turns out that the subject has been written about in reliable sources, enough to show that the film passes WP:GNG and WP:NFILM. Then the unsourced stuff could be stripped out and a sourced, quality article written instead.
The same goes for Anonymous (Street Meat) and any other film article you care to name. If your film attracts enough media attention to pass WP:NFILM then I expect someone will re-create the article. (But as I've mentioned before, articles are not normally written by the film's creator because of the conflict of interest).

Editing your own article

I'm afraid I have removed the extra material that you added at Migdia Chinea Varela, as it was not backed up by any reliable, published sources. Information in Wikipedia articles must be linked to published sources so that readers can, at least in theory, check it for themselves. There's lots of stuff that is backed up by professional information and articles, as I'm an outspoken person. However, because the material is not well-researched, as it should, it appears one-sided and that is NOT fair to me. There's more to my life and my interests -- qualities and ambitions -- than a lawsuit in which I was not the only person involved and which was ignited on principle -- the principle of equal work for equal pay and the notion that setting aside half-pay by virtue of ethnicity is simply wrong. I received nothing as a result -- not a dime. Instead, I was blacklisted. Please, understand that that unless coverage is made fair to me as a human being, what is there appears biased and I can't have it. I work too hard and have sacrificed too much for that -- thank you and kindest regards -- Mig (talk) 16:41, 2 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Migdia, sorry for the trouble this is causing to you. Wikipedia usually does not delete pages on request of an article subject, and it looks dimly on editors editing pages about themselves. If you wish deletion to be sought, your best bet is convincing some experienced editor to file a discussion at Articles for Deletion. Beware however that it is by no means guaranteed that the article will be deleted after that -it depends on the consensus of editors there. Please do not use IMDb as a source and please do not edit an article about yourself. Instead, if you want something in the article, please put your request on the article's talk page, providing a reference to a reliable source.

To make sure it doesn't just languish there, I'd be happy to review anything you put on the talk page and try to either insert it or try to explain why I can't.

I've got the article listed on my watchlist, which notifies me when a change is made to the article or it's talk page. But if you want to put a note on my talk page, too, when you've made such a request, I'd be cool with that.

For "Director", reliable sources would be articles about a movie or movies you've directed, appearing in a reputable newspaper(s) or periodical(s). http://dailybruin.com/2011/05/25/grad_student_midgia_chinea039s_film_039anonymous_street_meat039_selected_for_cannes_short_film_festi/ I've directed this one and three others. http://www.polishfilmla.org/wocms.php?siteID=13&ID=636 -- all I did is update the entry -- this is NOT an article to which I've made edits. Thanks. We're really not out to make your life more difficult. Just to follow our rules. David in DC (talk) 19:19, 27 October 2013 (UTC) I guess that it's not ok for a woman to be a director -- that's what I see - unless she's validated, not by her work and/or the festivals in which her work is exhibited at great cost to those people who do that, nor even the article written about her, or the websites (to which she has no access) in which she's mentioned. It's not ok for that woman to be a director -- regardless of having spent three and a half years in an institution of higher learning getting her MFA in film at astronomical expense. No. Unless there's a churri burri article by some approved periodical (not the bruin) in which it's said that she's a director VERBATIM, her work DOES NOT COUNT and SHE IS NOT A DIRECTOR!!! User page vs article

WP protocol asks that if a userpage contains article information, which is then turned into, or incorporated into, an actual article, that the article info on the user page be removed, as it becomes increasingly out of step with the article. I wanted to give you a heads up on this. If you dont respond after a while (maybe a month), i may blank the info and leave the link that i provided, to your article. you can definitely write about yourself on your userpage, but it cant appear to be overly promotional (like a resume), and should not follow article style. I dont recommend you edit your own article, but if you wanted to seriously revamp it, you would make a copy of at at your Sandbox, and work on it there-but this could also be blanked if you left it there too long without working on it. This is not meant as a warning, but as friendly advice. userpages look better to the average reader if they focus on your interests at WP. I would gather a good example is User:Jimbo Wales. And, i will now take the time to actually read your article, and familiarize myself with your professional work, as i came here from editing around Luis J. Rodriguez (the politican/writer), and his talk page.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 20:05, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

French WP talk page

the talk page at your french WP article contains a letter, apparently written to a newspaper. If this was published in a newspaper, you (or the newspaper) maintain copyright, i believe, and thus it should NOT be reproduced at the talk page in full. the letter begins:

"Neither tacos nor brie"

New York Times columnist Judith Warner said (No Laughing Matter, Sept. 11, 2008), "In Republican crowds, I find, I feel particularly small. And dark."

and ends:

This exclusivity of thought is a form of intellectual assault, people. Neither tacos nor brie.

If you wish this to not be released under a free license, you can request the material be deleted.

PS. i watched the Kninth Floor at Vimeo. I liked the dialogue between the old man and the young woman: excellent depiction of what could either be the truth, or a schizophrenic person-have you met anyone who is schizophrenic? i also liked the images of the two latino men in the elevator, very striking. I had trouble following the story, but im getting older and avant garde film expression is probably harder for me to follow. I havent yet watched the "old havana" clip. I added a little bit to your article, and added an english language wikiquote page. I'm sorry your experience here has been somewhat unpleasant. I have since fleshed this portal out. if you go there, and click the blue "Show new selections" text below the article on hispanic and latino americans, you get a new selection of an article, a biography, an image (my favorite part to work on, finding good images for a given broad subject, that have some flair to them, in addition to showing an important subject) and a year in the "did you know"s of the front page of WP. you are still there, for the first half of 2014, so readers will get your listing randomly as they go there. This is just a minimally revamped portal, to serve as a, well, portal, for readers curious about the topic. Please give me any feedback you might have about what i did. the articles i selected are all "featured articles", and i may take the time to add what are called "good articles" as well. PS at some point i may try to write an article on the subject of your film. its hard to find info on him though.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 21:58, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

We can't host downloads here, especially if the copyright is not clearly licensed under our rather stringent standards. We do NOT require that a publication be available online in order to cite it; we just ask that the citation be clearly enough formatted to enable somebody who has a copy of the publication in their hands to look it up. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:25, 9 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Latino or Hispanic portal

I thought it was really nice and comprehensive despite its brevity. It's also Important to explain the complexities of Hispanic culture.

Btw. I was wondering how I can provide a DCP format of Old Havana for any Film Fest if needed? Please, let me know. Thanks so Much. Mig.

Mig (talk) 03:07, 9 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

The portal is just a summary of the best articles written on the subject to date. none of the content is original to the portal itself. the only way to communicate nuances of the topic is to try to find a good selection of articles and images that convey it. the DYK's really show the importance of the cultural revolution staring in the 70s around chicano literature and activism for example. for instance, i will not be including some of the "B" and "GA" articles that are only tangentially related, such as people of some latin descent who have nothing in their professional lives that reflect that (such as porn stars), or small towns with substantial hispanic minorities or majorities (unless the town had some event there which galvanized people around the topic, such as a riot or a new law). some portals have a quotation section, but thats a LOT of work, which i cannot find time to do. I dont know what a DCP is, and am a complete dunce when it comes to video formats, downloads, etc. I will be happy to see if the film qualifies for an article once it comes out. cant guarantee, but if it gets enough attention, i will start the article (assuming i havent gotten tired of this silly WP before then :)Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:56, 9 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hahaha! It's the sort of format all big festivals will be asking for because digital images fragment on the big screen. I love the coverage on chicanismo because so much of it seems to have gone by the wayside. Check out Harry Gamboa and ASCO Mig (talk) 05:20, 9 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, i get the impression that so much of the movement is really stagnant as a public process, much like feminism and african american culture, all at a time when its needed the most. most of it has devolved into simple ethnocentrism and isolation. or so it seems.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:04, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes. That is true -- the movement was exemplified by journalist Ruben Salazar and avant garde artists like Patssy Valdes, Harry Gamboa, Gronk and others. The isolation is not self-generated, but the result of prejudice and stereotyping in the mediaMig (talk) 07:28, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi mercurywoodrose-- I was wondering if "anonymous (street meat)" could have its own page so that it can be cross-referenced. It's a really good piece and has been seen just about everywhere. The Latino portal is so good -- I love that dirffrent people are featured at different times -- thanks so much for that. We don't get much attention outside of certain national issues. There's a man out of Orange County who has a blog called "Ask a Mexican." Very funny. Kindest regards -- Mig (talk) 18:22, 17 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

The column is ¡Ask a Mexican!. i will add his image to the portal. I remember reading in Books In Print how few books there were on Simon Bolivar. totally ridiculous. the latin influence on rock is underplayed (bill graham sought it out though). the list goes on and on. PS my interest comes in part from my wife who is of part mexican descent, but didnt get any mexican culture (youve heard this story before im sure). I have a similar issue with my name and its presumed heritage, and how i didnt get that either growing up.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 04:50, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

A lot of people feel that way and have a similar impediment with culture. Mig (talk) 04:59, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oh, to address your question about anon street meat, i doubt it can pass notability. I may look at refs, but short films like that often dont get articles. sorry to disappoint you. If you actually own the copyright, you could release more stills, and the Commons can host all the images you want that are not personal, including stills from films and photos taken during production.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:52, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

What would releasing the photos do? I have some. But not many. Lots of photos from Old Havana. Mig (talk) 08:35, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

First, always consider that any photo uploaded to the Commons is essentially copyright free, and may be used for ANY noncommercial or commercial purpose, although the user is required to at least say where they got it and who the author is (ie: "image credit:Migdia Chinea/Wikimedia Commons" added at bottom of image, like "associated press" at bottom of pictures in news stories). the purpose of the upload is to have important images in one location where the license for use is clearly stated. someone may want to write an article about your film, and if they know there is an image here, they dont have to ask permission first to use it. you have a category at the commons, [3], and i will add a link to it from your article. you can also add a link to the category from any articles on your films. If you wanted to upload images from the production of your film, journalists could use those easily in writing an article, or even if they wrote an article on a related subject. you lose some of the commercial potential of the images (you can of course still sell them, and you can upload smaller resolution versions of images you may want to be able to sell at full resolution), but you may gain in easy publicity, and of course the knowledge that others can learn about the filmmaking process, etc. your images could be used in another WP article on, say, filmmaking or women filmmakers. We definitely need good images of Old Havana.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 15:01, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
I created this user category for you Files by User:Migdiachinea, so you can track all your uploads in one place, whether related to films or not.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 15:11, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Women filmmakers would be great or Women Filmmakers of Hispanic origin would also work. Yes. It's great that people could find images there. I will upload the ones I've got later -- I've got some issues accessing them on my Mac that I will try to resolve. Thanks so much! Mig

In reference to Anonymous (street meat). Can we un delete this WP entry? Also the Ucla film notables contain NO hispanics. For the record Moctesuma Esparza and Migdia Chinea. Please verify. :)

I cannot find enough independent information on Anon, YES, inc, or the short film on yarini to justify articles, sorry. very few short films get articles on WP, though having them in a list of works is quite common. just as few short stories get articles, but some authors short works are included in their bibliographies. its all about relative notability. we need a cut off point for any topic. IMDB can list everything, but that doesnt show how important a work is. we also dont have articles on 99% of schools below high school level. yes, they exist, some for decades, but the schools themselves are usually not particularly notable, even those that celebs attended. high schools do get in the news, and of course some sports careers begin in HS.
I removed the redlinks on the shorts and yes inc, as we dont want redlinks for topics that we know dont have notability yet. anyone can of course research them again, at any time, and if new info is available, create an article. redlinks should be reserved for topics that are clearly worth creating an article on, but for which no one has bothered yet.
I dont know about the UCLA film notables. if someone should be added, give me a name, and ill consider adding it. PS, i do a lot less editing now, after my recent efforts to improve the various portals (including the LA and hispanic am portals), so i cant promise much right now. I do hope to see the film on yarini when it comes out.(mercurywoodrose)76.254.32.49 (talk) 19:25, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
your ciboney logo was deleted for not having proper permissions. the logo is not only trademarked, but eligible for copyright, due to its complexity. thus, you will need to file an OTRS with the Commons, to keep the logo there. that means, of course, that you would GIVE UP the copyright status for your logo. you would not be giving up your trademark right, which is probably all you need, so that no one can use it to promote their own interests. it just means people could reproduce it on the internet w/o your permission, as long as it wasnt used improperly. i dont know how to submit an OTRS. go here to learn how. I would upload your logo myself, but since its copyrightable, i cannot do so, as i dont own the copyright. only you can do that. I dont know what "TD" stands for, is it another logo?Mercurywoodrose (talk) 19:33, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I added Moctezuma to a newly created list of ucla film school alumni. there is no official process for finding out who is hispanic and an alumni. give me a name, and if they are, ill add it. the list SHOULD have a ref for each name on it, but many lists like this dont. as long as the main article says they are an alum, thats enough for now.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 19:54, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dear Drmies. I request to be unblocked as it is an unfair thing to do. The Slamdance FF Wikipedia page looked more like a publicity ad than the page of a professional film festival. I explained over and over what the issue was. No one has responded. Indeed Wikipedia is an encyclopedic source that I use fir my own research. Thank you.
