Margie Reiger

edit

Hello Val

I've added a bit more to Margie Reiger. Even before my additions, she was back up to #2 on Google when I checked an hour ago. Very odd that she should have slipped down to page three earlier today.

I found this on Facebook of all places, 1915 Hotel Register. Hard to say even from her signature whether it is Reiger or Rieger. Looks like Edna Purviance beat her to being Chaplin's leading lady - no idea if the "casting couch" was involved...

I'll have a think about some more articles that you might want to start. March is Women's History Month. Edwardx (talk) 21:04, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Edward

First, thank you for all your help, I have very little self confidence at this stage and feel I need another training session soon, but I think I can manage with your guidance. I went to the BFI library last Tuesday to get some more material on Reiger but there was precious little there although I did acquaint myself with the layout of the place. I am now at the stage that I feel I need to familiarize myself with the mechanics of Wikipedia before I start another project. I am not even sure if I am doing this page correctly. Oh, I almost forgot, I lost your email address. Let's keep in touch and thank you again. Matthisvalerie (talk) 18:48, 14 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Matthisvalerie: It's not a good idea to post email addresses. You can email a user such as Edwardx (talk · contribs) directly by visiting either their user page or their user talk page, and clicking "Email this user" in the left sidebar. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:18, 15 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've added a bit more and moved her into "mainspace". Your Marietta Canty sandbox page is now a live article! You could expand her filmography with titles from this list: Canty films on Wikipedia, or just seacrh on ImdB. And plenty more about her on this NPS page. Wiki biscuits are guaranteed zero calories!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Matthisvalerie! Thank you for coming here. I have been editing Wikipedia for some time, so if you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type help me at the bottom of this page. Here are some tips that you might find helpful:

  • Link to other articles with double square brackets
    • Click here for some articles where you can practice adding links to other articles. When you've got at least two blue links in the article you can remove the code from near the top of the page.
  • Add pictures from Wikimedia Commons using thumb for thumbnail|Left, right or center so it knows where to go|a meaningful caption|alt=a description for blind people
    • Example
    • Click here for an exercise in adding images to articles.
  • Add headings with ==double equal signs==
    • If an article has sections two editors can edit different sections simultaneously without edit conflicts. Add enough sections and you get a contents section.
    • Click here for articles where you can practice adding sections when you've finished splitting an article into sections you can remove the code from the top of the page.
      • ===subheadings are similar===
  • When you add information to Wikipedia please precis things in your own words, and tell us where you got the information from in the following format
  • If you find unreferenced information on Wikipedia that you consider dubious or unlikely, first try to reference it with a search on the internet. If you know it is wrong correct it, if you can't find a source then fact adds the famous [citation needed]. If after a week no-one has referenced the information feel free to remove it.
  • Double single quotes gives you Italic and triple quotes Bold.
  • Help:Wiki markup has everything from hieroglyphs to mathematical notation
  • How to write a great article

But first please go to our class page and sign in with # ~~~~

I hope you enjoy the session and come back to Wikipedia again! Jonathan Cardy (WMUK) (talk) 14:39, 17 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Barbara Crane, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages BA and Polaroid. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The image you added to Kate Osamor File:Kate Osamor.jpeg seems like its been miss-identified. Someone has said its possibly actress Nse Ikpe Etim, any idea who it actually is? Did you take the photo yourself? --Salix alba (talk): 00:25, 16 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes I concur with Salix alba (well done for working out who it was). The good news is that Nse Ikpe Etim doesn't have an image on her article so... Stuart Prior (WMUK) (talk) 11:26, 16 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

New pictures vs infoboxes

edit

Noticed you've been putting up some new pictures up for a few MPs. Please be aware that you've been placing them in such a way that the infobox drops down the page. Infoboxes should stay up in the top-right hand corner of any article, so please be aware of that when placing future pictures. 80.68.32.198 (talk) 13:44, 11 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Lead images in bios

edit

Hello Val, thanks for including so many good images here. Unfortunately, I had to remove a few as they weren't of adequate quality. Don't worry there are plenty left and all of the images are still on Commons. Please see WP:LEADIMAGE. Please keep taking the photographs but also consider whether they all need to be in the relevant biography. Philafrenzy (talk) 11:43, 16 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
