Did he die of a illness or Natural Causes? Voggyer (talk) 20:59, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your question. First the terms are not mutually exclusive. Next, the term used in the source is "short illness" and that is what we use in the article as the obit is a reliable source. We most certainly do not use speculative terms like "may have been". MarnetteD | Talk 21:05, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Was he buried in Virgina? Voggyer (talk) 21:39, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Sorry I missed this question while I was responding to the one about pics. If you look at this article [1] it says that he was buried in Arlington Cemetery in Virginia. This is because he had served in the Navy. MarnetteD | Talk 02:39, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Selected filmography

What does Selected filmography mean? Filmography is about films Voggyer (talk) 21:12, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Here at WikiP the term is used for the section of an actors article where the films/TV shows that they have appeared in are listed. Sometimes they are in a table like this Ben Kingsley#Filmography and sometimes they are just a list like this Francesca Annis#Selected filmography. The word "selected" is usually used to indicate that the list is not complete. Or to put it another way "this is some of the films/shows that they have been in" but not all of them. MarnetteD | Talk 21:19, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Some actors have been in so many films or shows that to list them all would make the article tend towards WP:LISTCRUFT (some editors feel the need to list every appearance, even a 30-second appearance on a chat show where the actor was there only to plug the latest film). Therefore we list the more significant ones - the film debut, the TV debut, those where awards were won, those which marked a significant change in career direction, etc. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:27, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Jackie Cooper could have a filmography page Voggyer (talk) 21:25, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
RedRose64 has that right Voggyer. Those people that list every little thing tend to be copying IMDb's list. Also remember that WikiP is an evolving thing - guidelines have changed over time and there has been a wide range of editors coming and going over the years. Some will have entered every film and TV show because that was the way things were done 7, 8, 9 years ago. That is not done as often now. This is also the reason that you will find several different kinds of tables in the articles. As to a filmography for Mr Cooper you are certainly free to work on one. I can recommend that you use your sandbox (see the link right next to "My talk" at the top of your page) to work on it until it is in a good state to put in the article. Cheers to you both. Can we just block this "individual". I'm not sure how we do this, but if you need someone to "second the proposal" or whatever, please let me know. S/he has had enough warnings.  Tigerboy1966  18:10, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for you question T. I know how frustrating this situation is. I've thought about a blocking request every time I've reverted their nonsense. I haven't reported them yet - the main problem is that they don't edit very often so for any block to be of use it would have to be for several days if not weeks to do us any good. With blocks being preventative rather than punitive some admins would take into account that other potential editor might use this IP and be blocked undeservedly. The incorrect info has been added by several different IPs so we might try WP:RFPP but, again, the editing is so sporadic that we might get rejected on that basis. I hope that you don't think that I am dodging your concerns. I have a couple admins that I could discuss this with and, should the activity persist I will ask them if they have any better ideas. Until the if you get frustrated the two possible places to report are WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. Thanks for your help in protecting that article and for you other work here at WikiP. MarnetteD | Talk 18:42, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
I see what you mean: it's a bit like dealing with some kid playing knock and run. Very annoying, but if you call the cops you get told off for wasting police time. I suppose we just have to keep reverting and not let the intermittent drip-drip-drip effect grind us down. All the best as always.  Tigerboy1966  19:03, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply - your link with drip-drip-drip is both correct and brings a smile to my day :-) Much appreciated. MarnetteD | Talk 19:12, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Images

How do you Get an image on a page? Voggyer (talk) 02:16, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi again. I'm afraid that I know nothing about working with images. At the technical end I think that uploading them is fairly straightforward but because of copyright concerns there are all sorts of requirements to be met when adding a picture. I can say that you might ask at this Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Images talk page. If you don't get a quick reply you might also ask at the WP:HELP desk. While I have avoided pictures completely I have seen other editors get frustrated with the process so please have patience with those that try to help and don't let it get you down if the pics you want to add don't meet Wikipedia's requirements. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 02:30, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
I got it now Voggyer (talk) 02:44, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I suggest starting at Help:Files. This has sections on uploading image files (covered in depth at WP:UPIMAGE) and on adding image files to article pages (covered in depth at WP:PICTURE). --Redrose64 (talk) 15:53, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks so much R. Even though I don't work with pics it will be good to have your suggestions to pass on to others who may ask in the future. I appreciate the time you took to fill us in. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 19:05, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Missing "not"?

I didn't want to add distractions at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#What are legitimate grounds for a precipitate block for edit warring?, so am commenting here. Please review your recent comment because I think there is a "not" missing in "so the block did cool anyone off". No reply needed thanks. Johnuniq (talk) 03:17, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Yay. Just look at some of the nonsense this idiot added to just this article. There's a lot of diffs, so I can save you some time: fake cast crediting Clancy Brown, Rob Paulsen, ad nauseum. RE:FYI

I have the software that allows computer DVD players to play older Region 2 DVDs, but apparently the newer Region 2s have some way of circumventing it. The Stanford Univ library carries a lot of Region 2 DVDs, so apparently faculty must have some access to playing them, perhaps in the library- I don't know. Thanks for the tip.--WickerGuy (talk) 20:30, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

An Unearthly Child

Thank you for providing a reference to the contested information. However, I must point out that I'm very familiar with both stories, but I considered the book to be a nod to the original story, not intended to be the actual same book. As you have provided information on this, then that's fine (I haven't listened to the commentary), although the production team did a fairly bad job - the books look nothing like each other. One other point though is while I do assume good faith, I am right in removing information that is unreferenced. Anyway, thank you for your time.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 17:40, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your note. You should not be expecting perfection from a production team that was a)working on a very tight budget and b) was under the gun from the BBC front office as well as numerous critics at the time that RotD was made. They had to "make do" so often in Colin Baker's and Syl McCoy's eras that it is a wonder that they got anything done that could be broadcast. As the storyline in RotD makes clear the events of AUC took place shortly before those of Remembrance,,,. Also, if we carry out your objection we would have to apply it to the entire story - i.e. the junkyard isn't the same, the school isn't the same, the classroom isn't the same, what is on the chalkboard and on the notice board isn't the same (hmm in fact it might have been an alternate universe - that is always a good way to explain continuity errors :->). I am sure that J-N Turner and everyone else that worked on the show wishes that they could have been as accurate as the team that created "Relics (Star Trek: The Next Generation)" - unfortunately that was never meant to be. Cheers and happy editing here at WikiP. MarnetteD | Talk 00:57, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Requesting your assistance The Godfather

Hi, I am trying to edit the plot for The Godfather, and created a draft with help from User: Gareth Griffith-Jones on the talk page which conforms to WP:PLOT, (its a few words over 700 compared to the current article plot of 750) and includes extra details as well as chronological organisation. However I am currently in conflict with User:Ring Cinema, who kept reverting my changes, which resulted in the me issuing a 3RR notice board warning (The editor seems to have a history of edit war conflicts and blocks). The 3RR notice became protected and closed and the discussion is going nowhere because I do not see what he wants with the plot, seeing as I cut it down as well as adding details and flow. As a result the article is now protected from editing by an admin until 28th April and until the dispute is resolved. I saw you edited the page for a time and seem to be an established contributor. Could you please weigh in to the discussion? The current plot draft is there on the talk page, I even explained the reason for each paragraph in blue and with further discussion. Alternatively this is only a request so you can simply ignore it. JTBX (talk) 08:47, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Horst Buchholz and others

Hello Marnette, I have recently been doing some work with The Magnificent Seven (my professional background is in entertainment and English teaching) and was dismayed to see, in your very prompt edit of my reworking of the Horst Buchholz headnote, that you had neglected to place the fact that he played Chico anywhere else in the article. In addition, the word "part" which you restored, is singular, whereas TWO roles are actually referred to in the headnote. So, with the introduction again ungrammatical, and the article lacking in the extra information I had supplied, I have, with apologies, reverted your edit. I have no wish to get into an edit war, but the role of Chico was the major source of Buchholz's fame - as indeed you might say as a general remark on Rex Harrison that he is best known for playing Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. So it is not strictly "irrelevant" as you claim; that is a matter of opinion. On a more positive note, leaving it in the headnote also brings it up prominently on Horst Buchholz Web searches. So I hope you will leave the article as revised my me, and thanks for your forebearance. With best wishes, FClef (talk) 01:34, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

  • In fact, I have just revisited the headnote to Yul Brynner, which directly refers to his portrayal of Mongkut, King of Siam, in The King and I. It is clearly not "irrelevant" to refer to an iconic role - as in the case of all the Magnificent Seven starring actors. Thanks again for your understanding, but I have to defend myself, and indeed the article, from over-hasty reversals. We are all working to increase knowledge on Wikipedia! FClef (talk) 01:44, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
    • I have just visited Steve McQueen and see that you have inexplicably reverted my work there too. It is not "irrelevant" as you dismissively assert - and from what expertise do you judge that? - to refer to specific characters played by actors. There, you've removed my work from the body of the article. I find this discourteous to say the very least, and a breach of Wikipedia principles. It is marginally short of bullyilng. I will of course undo all your other edits of my recent contributions and I do not expect you to counter-revert. I have been contributing to Wikipedia since 2008 and feel that my work has not been sub-standard. So I will thank you to leave my contributions in this area undamaged, especially when you are not putting in the information anywhere else - just destroying it.FClef (talk) 01:52, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
      • In looking at your revert on James Coburn, you are right and I had the character name wrong - thanks for that. Also, as there is a film table. I've not counter-reverted your revert there. I bid you a fond "goodnight." (No, I really do, it's 3 a.m.!)FClef (talk) 02:03, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

First you will want to read the disclaimer that is below the save page button including the part that states "If you do not want your writing to be edited, used, and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." I have every right to change your edits as you have the right to change someone elses including mine. Next, whining about bullying will shut this conversation down faster than anything else. You are perfectly free to provide proof of it and report it at the proper spot if you feel the need. I have been editing for longer than you and I can tell you that if you think that my edit summaries are bullying you haven't a clue about what really is bullying around here. I have also learned that not every entry I make is "vital" to the encyclopedia. A lesson you might want to take on board

As to the edits

  1. Please see WP:UNDUE. You are only adding the names of one role. You like that film and that is fine. BTW I have watched it dozens of times over the years.
  2. For intance for Mr Bucholz there are two films mentioned in his lede but you only added the role name for one of them. That makes it look odd to say the least.
  3. If you are going to lay claims for "iconic" roles then you will first need to read WP:PEACOCK and then provide a reliable source in the article stating that a given role is iconic.
  4. Your declaration that you are willing to edit war over such a minor thing is worrying and could be considered bullying as well. MarnetteD | Talk 02:10, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
      • Of course I "like the film," but if you look at obituaries, they will very often single out roles, irrespective of whether the reviewer "likes the film" or not. But I will read WP:PEACOCK as you ask. It may be a "minor thing," but was clearly important enough to you to take immediate vapourizing action. I once had an entire article, which I had researched and written, recommended for deletion within about 5 minutes of my completing it. Not a pleasant experience, and it very nearly put me off writing for Wikipedia altogether. I am not "whining," but I won't trade insults. Since I started, I have had four similar experiences of almost instantaneous reverts - and they are always horrid. One of them was settled very courteously with the admin concerned. Incidentally, I got my start date wrong - it was 2006. FClef (talk) 02:22, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Then please provide an Obit for Mr Bucholz that has the name Chico in it. Making false accusations of bullying is an insult so it would be a good idea to avoid them in the future. I have had hours of work here reverted or deleted all together it is part of the deal when you chose to edit. I can only recommend that you get over it or you will have problems again somewhere down the road. MarnetteD | Talk 02:27, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello Excirial. Thank you for protecting the UNCF article against the POV IP. FYI they filed a long winded and malformed RFPP here [2]. They also went on a spree of reverting edits made by you and GreatOrangePumpkin. I know that you are busy so I thought I would make aware of these things just in case. MarnetteD | Talk 21:10, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Hiyas there Marnette,
I happened to notice them placing request when busy with Huggle, right before Wikimedia tech did something that killed cluster23 for a minute. I do have to mention that the request for semi protection was rather amusing - i certainly agree with the IP that it is needed, but it would prevent the IP from adding more POV material. I doubt that was the intended outcome of the request... Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 21:14, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Nice catch there - thanks. Completely not suspicious that a new account is created, and that this account suddenly finds its way to a virtually unknown page a minute after its creation. Somehow this entire thing makes me think of Crayons, Boxes and the wordt bright - i wonder why! Either way our friend the IP is blocked 48 hours for edit warring, and the sockpuppet is out cold on indefinite basis. Hopefully thats sufficient to prevent more accounts and nonsense for at least the next 48 hours. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 21:30, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the follow through and up. Looks like the IP has been an SPA since its first edit on Apr 21 2012 so it'll bear some watching after the block expires but it will be nice to get back to normal editing (whatever that is) until then. MarnetteD | Talk 21:54, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Why do you revert every edit to articles about Akira Kurosawa and his films?

You seem to revert every single edit made to any article about Akira Kurosawa or his films. Would you like to explain why? In particular, this edit concerns me. The edit summary, "without Ikiru the list is bereft of meaning", seems to suggest that you didn't even bother to see what the edit contained before reverting it. JoshuSasori (talk) 22:58, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

No I don't revert every single edit to Kurosawa and you shouldn't make claims like that without proof. The actors and filmmakers project rejected notable works sections many years ago as too POV. What one editor thinks is notable another one doesn't. My apologies for missing the fact that Ikiru was there but The Bad Sleep Well, High and Low, Red Beard and I could go on aren't there. This is far better addressed in the body of the article. MarnetteD | Talk 23:08, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
In the last week or two, you have reverted almost every edit to articles about Akira Kurosawa films: [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]. JoshuSasori (talk) 23:33, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
On each of those article I have also left edits in. I have also left edit summaries which were quite clear as to why the items were being removed and, where possible, also given reasoning under which the edit can be restored. Explain how this edit [8] improved the article. This disclaimer appears below the save button for every edit made "If you do not want your writing to be edited, used, and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." That applies to me as well as everyone that edits here. As a volunteer I am allowed to edit as I see fit as are you. Then others are allowed to change those edits. That is the way things work. I hope that you are able to live with that as you continue your good work with various articles. MarnetteD | Talk 23:44, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Bloodhorse list

No problem with you reverting me. I suppose that anything I write late on a Saturday night should be looked at very closely (It's the gin talking). The point is that the list was called "Thoroughbred Champions: Top 100 Racehorses of the 20th Century" without any kind of national qualification. My edits were distinctly pointy but I think you will agree that it's a bit presumptuous to create a national list and then present it in a way that might lead readers to believe that it is some kind of global ranking. Apologies for the disruption: we have enough problems dealing with "The Sect" (Secretariat fans) without me going on a silly, point-scoring diversion.  Tigerboy1966  12:08, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

My dad took me to a couple of those. I also appreciate minor league ballparks. Portland Oregon's is really nice - right downtown and within a few blocks of several brewpubs. I grew up with the Denver Bears and I tell friends how being a fan of a minor league team had its joys depending on who your parent club was. One year it was the Montreal Expos and that summer we got to see Rusty Staub, Warren Cromartie, Ellis Valentine, Andre Dawson and Tim Raines on the field. Further back we were in the Yankees farm system for a short time and we Thurmon Munson and Craig Nettles and they were managed by Billy Martin and Art Fowler was the pitching coach and he had his rocking chair out in the bullpen. Ah sweet memories. Thanks for sparking them. MarnetteD | Talk 02:01, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Nice to have Wikipedia to check my fuzzy memories. Looks like Munson never played here so that is a false memory. Also the Nettles, Martin and Fowler time here was when the team was in the Minnesota Twins farm system. I can still remember going to the of 4th of July fireworks game that summer - it was one of those slow games with each inning seeming to taking forever to finish then a huge fight broke out (Billy M was in the middle of it natch) and that took some time clear up and then the game went extra innings. It musta been after 11 before the fireworks finally lit up the sky. My mom hated sports but she stuck with us through those many hours. Nice to remember that the day after Moms Day. I hope you have a great week. MarnetteD | Talk 02:28, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Weird...

Hi,

Really interesting thing here - let me post the message I was gonna post first:

I changed your link on ANI. For some reason to do with cacheing I can't actually link to what I did yet (as I can't see the diff due to history not working) but as it was a tiny error and it was obvious what it meant I took the liberty of changing your comment. Just letting you know, I'm 99.8% sure you won't mind, but if you do please let me know!

That was the message ('twas to do with BullRangifer typo)... but as we both know, you noticed that error too, and sorted it out. But the weird thing is, I managed to make that edit and even had an edit summary for it. And it didn't go to edit conflict or anything... it actually worked, or so I thought.

Do you think we've found an interesting bug?

Egg Centric 23:57, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Many thanks for you vigilance. I don't know if it is a bug or not - mostly due to the fact that I know next to zip about wikiprogramming - I have had the same experience a few times over the years. My only guess has been that we clicked on the "Save page" button at the exact same time. I know that I get to typing as quickly as possible when trying to find out if trolling is going on and mistakes can happen (coming from the typewriter generation I blame it on flat keyboards :->) so thanks again for correcting any booboos I make. Runaway Tom Cruise fan

Hi there. Just as I was about to step away from the computer for a while, I noticed that User:Napsync has been quite active in adding every Tom Cruise film he can possibly think of into his newly created Tom Cruise category. I am not familiar at all with policies or guidelines regarding categories, so I don't know if this sort of thing is technically disallowed, but I thought I'd give you a heads-up since I'm guessing you probably know better than I if anything needs to be done--it all seems rather excessive. Many thanks. --Blake Burba (talk) 10:18, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Blake. I can't remember if there is a guideline here WP:CLN about this situation. It sticks in my memory that we don't do this kind of cat but I could be wrong. You might ask at the talk page for WP:CFD or you could even file a request for a full discussion about this new category there. I think that there is a group of editors that keep an eye on new cats and do away with unneeded ones fairly quickly - but again I could be wrong. Hope this helps, Regards. Ok, thanks. -Blake Burba (talk) 21:27, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply on my page--I've got yours on my list. I figured some category-wise editor would spring into action sooner or later, and sure enough... Cheers, Blake Burba (talk) 03:07, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

JFK hairpiece

That was one amazing rug, to survive clear to the autopsy. It's just a shame it wasn't bulletproof. You may now delete this comment and return to your regular programming.Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 04:32, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) This is a hairpiece. A beautiful specimen: admittedly, it's so good that you may not even recognize it as such. None of the Kennedy men of that generation seemed to be affected by the male-pattern baldness gene, especially to the degree where they would have to wear a wig. Of course, that is my own original research. Bizarre conspiracy theories will always abound. Go to Dealey Plaza if you're ever in Dallas, and you'll see plenty of these types selling "literature" concerning things that will supposedly enlighten us all. Doc talk 04:46, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
I had seen autopsy photos as well at some point in the past which is why the previous discussion was so absurd to me. As to male pattern baldness so many things in my life have gone right over my head that I have a nice pink patch in the center. I wear it proudly and no rug/weave/hairpiece will ever cover it up (:-> . Cheers to all and have a great weekend. MarnetteD | Talk 14:40, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

For my talk page watchers this helps prove that reading is FUN-damental

I think that you all might get a kick out of this. I heard about this item [9] on a sports talk show today and thought it was too funny. I knew that there was a reason that I paid attention in geography class. If you know anyone that you would like to share it with please feel free to do so. MarnetteD | Talk 16:35, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Shall Halloween III be reverted back?

I know that the whole thing is totally messy. However, reverting it back requires effort. What do you think? --George Ho (talk) 03:43, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your question. I may not be the right person to ask. FA's are not something that I pursue - I've seen too much manipulation but that is just me. I can suggest a couple options. Go back to where it was before Garbage Skow (fun user name) stripped stuff out and work backwards or start where it is now and give it a rigorous going over. In the past I would have suggested notifying the filmproject for assistance about the need for improvements but we don't seem to have many active members there that want to take part in this sort of thing anymore. I don't know whether there are any other editors in another project that you can enlist. Sorry I wasn't of more help but I wish you well. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 04:46, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

undiplomatic language

Your recent edit on the page for Walter Salles: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Walter_Salles&oldid=493111342
was described by you in the following terms: "Main filmography: rmv item by our Brazilian pest"

I'm curious; who is "our Brazilian pest"?

Cricobr (talk) 01:57, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your question. If you will take a look here Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Vandalism by 201.19.*.* you may be able to get a sense of how much damage has been done to a large number of articles here at WikiP. IMO this is a much more pernicious form of vandalism than typing the word poop in an article as it leaves an article with inaccurate info in it. To give but one example take a look at this articles history [10] the incorrect info that was put in on May 2nd was put back in by a bot and two editors when another editor was trying to correctly remove it. This person has been doing this for close to a year and, as there are now numerous articles that are on no active editors watchlists, correcting these edits might not ever have been done. IMO the use of the term "Brazilian pest" is extremely diplomatic because what they are is much worse. Cheers MarnetteD | Talk 06:46, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Requesting another topic ban for User:BruceGrubb. Thank you. Jayjg (talk) 01:10, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

"Notability"? I think you meant "relevance".

this edit summary. It sounds like you're questioning the entire article. Daniel Case (talk) 12:03, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your question. No I wasn't questioning the entire article - why would I? Yes I was questioning the "Notability" about the "second" or "third" highest grossing film in anyone's career. Highest grossing is notable anything else doesn't meet WikiP's guidelines IMO. Edit summaries only have so much room so I am always open to explaining what I have written there. Feel free to ask anytime and cheers and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 15:26, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Of course, you are correct that it isn't really relevant to the article for the film. It also has time sensitive problems. That kind of factoid gets put in at the time but should things change they rarely get updated or changed. MarnetteD | Talk 15:53, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

I made a request for page protection, 'cause I am tired of playing this game with the IP. If an admin. denies the RPP, perhaps he will decide to block the IP. We'll see. ---RepublicanJacobiteTheFortyFive 21:26, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Hell, that was fast! He's been blocked 24 hours. ---RepublicanJacobiteTheFortyFive 21:28, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the update. I knew that the IP was escalating things but I had to log off as a thunderstorm brought my connection down for a short time. Your efforts are appreciated. MarnetteD | Talk 22:55, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Hey, this has been a group effort, as it should be. Most of my afternoon was spent making a big pot of chili for a dinner tomorrow evening. Wiki-nonsense did not distract me from that, I can tell you! Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteTheFortyFive 23:18, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Sounds delicious. I am famous for my cheescakes (in my circle of friends anyway) so I'd be happy to bring one over. Actually I'm busy rewatching the second season of Game of Thrones in anticipation of tomorrow nights finale. Enjoy your chili!! MarnetteD | Talk 23:21, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Sigh

User:Ashokapurr has evidently not met your expectation that "they will understand", and instead has accepted your suggestion that her map should be discussed at the external links noticeboard. As you are named (in offensively disparaging terms, I thought) you should have been told, but you weren't. --Old Moonraker (talk) 08:12, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I have posted a reply there and I let the third editor (not named) know about it as well. I appreciate the heads up and I hope that you enjoy the rest of your week. MarnetteD | Talk 11:47, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Clive Owen

Hi, MarnetteD. The editor who added the Clive Warren thing replied at your BLP/N thread, and I've responded. Over to you to weigh in now should you wish. Cheers, 92.6.202.54 (talk) 19:33, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for weighing in, there's an @207* implied/missing at the beginning of your threaded 1st reply I think, as you don't need to warn /me/ of the points since our comments agree on all of them ;). --92.6.202.54 (talk) 20:59, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
And thank you too. I meant to leave a thanks earlier but I have gotten caught up in dealing with a vandal from Hon Kong who is messing up a whole slew of articles. I added one 207 but I just realized where you want me to add another one so I will get back there in just a sec. Thanks again and cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 21:07, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Le Mans

Thanks for the message, I am watching as best I can. I don't think I'll be able to fix the template for this year, I'm not on my own computer because of where the television is located, so it'd be difficult to do any real Wiki work from it especially with all the other things I have running concurrently to keep track of the race! But I will look into it for an improvement for next year. The359 (Talk) 17:22, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

  • What timing - the minute I read the edit summary reopening the mess I thought "Did they never read the BATTLE link you gave me above?" or do the just love the battleground more than editing. WP:NOTTHERAPY is another one that could be applied cause that is all they seem to be using it for. Ah well I've been all over the world today - 24 hours of Le Mans this a.m. - futbol from the Ukraine midday - golf and basketball from California in the evening and I just lost at cribbage to someone from New Zealand so I think it may be time to visit the sandman zzzzzzz. The Mouse That Roared

Hi. I think you're right that the film should be split off from the book. I was going to jump into it, but then realized I probably wouldn't have time to finish it tonight (and I'm tired). Are you planning on doing it, or should I tackle it tomorrow? Best, Beyond My Ken (talk) 07:37, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi back at ya. I was just throwing it out as a suggestion. I think that there is enough there for two articles but I wasn't sure. I would be more than happy for you to take care of the split when you have a chance - no hurry though. I know nothing about getting pics that are okay for WikiP's purposes but if you could find a pic of the book to put in a book infobox that would be great. I remember checking it out from the library back in the early 70's along with a couple others in the series and they were a fun read. I'll be happy to help in any ways that I can but I think I've only split an article once and I would rather leave it in more experiences hands. Cheers MarnetteD | Talk 16:17, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, I'm going to do it as soon as I can, either this weekend, or during my weekend (which is Monday & Tuesday). Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:49, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Done Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:27, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
They look good. Congrats on your work. I am so glad that you found a pic of the bookcover - that is the one I remember. One question - Do you want to put it in an infobox like this article uses Watership Down? If not no worries. Again good job and enjoy your upcoming weekend! MarnetteD | Talk 06:22, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
An infobox for the book article would be fine! Beyond My Ken (talk) 15:26, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
I took a stab at adding it but if there is anything you can do to improve it that would be most helpful. Two new questions have come up - 1) there is some conflicting info as to 1st edition publishers. I have used the Little Brown info as linked to in the article but, as shown here Leonard Wibberley#The .22Mouse.22 series W Morrow might have published as well - my google search did not turn up anything definitive so I thought I'd ask if you have any ideas and 2) Your research skills wouldn't be able to find a pic of the cover of the other book in the series that we have an article for The Mouse on the Moon (novel) would they? Thanks yet again for your time. MarnetteD | Talk 17:56, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Unfortunately, the only other cover I was able to find - other than modern ones -- is the paperback film-tie-in edition. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:10, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
No problems. As before thanks for your efforts. MarnetteD | Talk 22:32, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll keep it on my "back burner", maybe I'll come up with another search idea. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:36, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Pe's vandalism, etc.

I appreciate your message. I was glad to provide what little help I did, as always. It was my intention to do more, honestly, but generally felt distracted by other petty nonsense. See, for instance, the new dispute at The Royal Tenenbaums. As I said, petty nonsense.

To wit, your dispute resolution situation. I felt your response was right on point. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

As for my weekend, there is an indy/punk fest going on, so my plan is to avoid the crowds, while still trying to enjoy myself. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteTheFortyFive 18:08, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
