Mirrors

edit

Thanks for contributing to the article Roger Milla ‎. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Kuru (talk) 14:22, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

You've just used the exact same, very clearly identified mirror here. Please slow down and carefully evaluate your sources. Kuru (talk) 15:26, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

read WP:RS and WP:VERIFY and follow the guidance at Help:Referencing for beginners. Doug Weller talk 14:42, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

To add to what Doug Weller says, let me give you an example. In Ethnic groups in Ivory Coast, you've added a source http://countrystudies.us/ivory-coast/20.htm but that source appears to have copied its information without permission from https://tile.loc.gov/storage-services/master/frd/frdcstdy/co/cotedivoirecount00hand_0/cotedivoirecount00hand_0.pdf the original Library of Congress source. We must not link to possible copyright violations, so I've changed the source you used to the original one. I'd be very grateful if you would now review your other contributions and check whether you've made similar mistakes, then correct them, please. If you need any assistance with reference formatting, please feel free to ask for help. --RexxS (talk) 19:11, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Adding to what others have said above: I strongly suggest you check potential references against the information at WP:RSP and in the history of discussions at WP:RSN. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 02:07, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please stop using ranker.com as a source. It is not reliable. Robby.is.on (talk) 08:12, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
A travel site such as accessgambia.com is not a reliable source for history. We need academic books or journal articles. Doug Weller talk 09:43, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Citrullus colocynthis. ... and several other articles. Your sources are blogs, not WP:SCIRS reviews. Zefr (talk) 21:05, 28 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Blocked 24-hours for adding inappropriate references en-masse

edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:17, 28 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Example: here, you add a low-value travel website/blog link to Euphorbia balsamifera; Euphorbia balsamifera isn't even mentioned on that website. A citation-needed tag is not an inviation to add low-quality links; whatever source that is supplied should directly support the text preceding the cite-needed tag. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I have clearly understood the reasons as to why i was blocked. I am requesting for the block to be removed and i commit myself to make useful contributions henceforthMKCheserek (talk) 04:49, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

If you clearly understand, then please explain exactly what you understand, and how your behavior will change if unblocked. Also, you should probably provide an explanation of why you did not follow the advice of the numerous folks who've posted on this talk page about reliable sources. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Note that if you resume adding low-quality references to articles after the expiration of this block, you will be blocked again for a longer duration. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:07, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Wikipedia. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Please do not add references to articles when the material next to the introduced footnote is not in the reference, as you did in such edits as: [1][2][3]. Sources must explicitly support the material they are next to. DrKay (talk) 07:23, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Blocked 1 week for repeatedly posting low-qualify references that don't support material they're are used for

edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for resumption of filling in low-quality references that don't support the content they are intended for. This is one of several recent examples where you reference, to Brittanica's article on Sierra Leone, doesn't even mention the material it's supposted to be a citation for (Jamaican Maroons). You have a week to carefully read our WP:CITE and WP:RS policies. If after the expiration of this block you continue adding worthless citations you will be blocked indefinitely per WP:CIR. ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

edit
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:57, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
