I contest the nomination for speedy deletion: "The Power of the Powerless" was a seminal essay widely acknowledged as having contributed to the collapse of the Iron Curtain in 1989 almost without firing a shot. The author, Havel, became the first president of the post-Soviet Czechoslovakia for his contribution to this transition, including especially this essay. However, I would ask KTo288 to clarify the citations, because I can't understand them. In particular, several provide page numbers for Keane, but I can't figure out what they refer to. I suggest you go to "Template:Cite book" and use the template there. I just modified that article to cite Havel 1985, and I plan to give page numbers from that book, because that's what I have. Thanks David for taking this article under your wing, I created this article because, though described as one of the most influential of the works disseminated in Samizdat form, it was only a red link. The article as it stood was based on translating from the Czech article on the topic and what could be gleaned from the internet, however I very quickly hit the limits of my abilities with the czech to english translation and my understanding of the topic, thus the less than clear nature of the article as it stood. Removal of Pictures at 7th St./Metro Center

Hello,

I was wondering why you remove several pictures at the 7th St./Metro Center page. It makes no sense for me to take pictures, upload them, and have them removed from the page. I do not see the reason why you removed the picture of the Silver Line bus at 7th St./Metro Center.

See Wikipedia:Image_use_policy#Image_galleries with regards the policy on galleries-galleries properly belong to Commons where the gallery has been moved to where it can be shared with the other language wikis without duplication, if you follow the links at the bottom of the page you'll find the gallery at Commons:7th Street / Metro Center (Los Angeles Metro station). Galleries and lots of pictures sre not in themselves always bad, but in this article the sheer number of pictures was overwhelming what text there was.--KTo288 (talk) 05:48, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Galleries are created at Commons in much the same way as articles are created here at Wikipedia, see Commons:Galleries, once created a link can be created using the template {{Commons|Name of gallery here}} which creates the link in the form of a box, or {{Commons-inline|Name of gallery here}} which creates the inline form.--KTo288 (talk) 05:24, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

I've deleted your comment - I don't know if you're just trolling (?), but "OR" and "synthesis" are completely wrong - the edit summary "not in refs" is right. If you're not trolling, you should really try to understand the meaning and the correct use of these terms. zzz (talk) 11:21, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

If I read the reasoning for your edit right, the editor who added that sentence was seeing that the protests were polite, and without corroboration from any other source decided that "The Polite Revolution" would be a good name for the protests, you do call it a fiction after all. Since you contend that the term appears no where else but in the head of that editor, it is an original reading of the references provided, to create something that didn't previously exist, that is a synthesis of sources to create original research. No I was not trolling, I was actually trying to understand your reasoning for your edit, and I thought I had, if this makes me stupid then so be it.--KTo288 (talk) 17:14, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

The editor stated, in the "Name" section, that the protests were called "the Polite Revolution" (complete with quote marks and caps.) This is a specific claim that was not in the refs,. If he had claimed they were described as "polite protests" - not in the name section, obviously - that would be fine (or it would be OR if the refs didn't say that, but they did). The point is, OR and synthesis are vague errors, open to interpretation, that it's possible to make accidentally, whereas "Not in refs" is blatant & probably deliberate. I apologise for jumping to conclusions: I think I assumed you were intent on passing on the annoyance you got from the your own edit summary criticism you linked to. I've had a lot of trolling type fiascos in my short time here. Sorry about this total misunderstanding. I just hate being told I "look bad", especially when the reason doesn't add up - because someone is almost guaranteed, now, to dredge up your accusation to use against me whenever they can at some point in the future, as an example of my "problematic edits", etc. I wish Wikipedia wasn't like that, but it has been, in my experience (maybe I've just been unlucky). I assumed someone who was an experienced editor and had written a solid article like Voice of Loving Hong Kong, must know for a fact that it wasn't OR or synthesis. I see we have different understandings of the intentions and actions of the editor, again if I understand your reasoning, you see the statement as a deliberate lie which the editor knew was a falsehood, and used the refs as a fig leaf to deceive readers, while I came to the conclusion was that the editor read a couple of sources and from 2+2 genuinely believed the answer to be 5. Since neither of us is the editor in question its really pointless for us to continue arguing over this. Herman Brood & his Wild Romance

Yeah, there is no Wild Romance outside of Herman Brood & his Wild Romance, that's a fact. I see that Qwertyus made that move--I have no easy solution. But thanks for writing it up. I spent quite some time writing up/improving Herman Brood, and I just noticed we don't have an article for "Saturday Night", which is undoubtedly the greatest Dutch rock and roll song ever. Thanks for being put right on that, I was doing a translation of the Dutch article, and taking my "facts" from that, I've just noticed that even the surviving band members are performing using the name "Lost Romance" rather than continuing to use the "Wild Romance" name. I'm curious about the reason for this edit of yours to the page Herman Brood. You added the words "Creating category", deleted the defaultsort, and deleted a large number of categories. I was about to undo your edit, when I saw that you're a very experienced editor. Did something go wrong? Or did you really intend to do this exact edit? Why? I am at a loss. Shouldn't Category:Herman Brood resemble for instance Category:John Lennon or Category:David Bowie? Why does the article Herman Brood now start with the words "Creating category:Herman Brood"? First. Slap on the wrist for me, "Creating category:Herman Brood"? is the edit summary, and should have gone in the edit summary box, sloppy work on my part, the cursor must have been in the wrong place when I saved and I didn't notice. As with the categorisation, most of my categorisation work is done on Commons, and I applied here what I would have done there, having the minimum number of applicable categories per item and created a single category that ties all the sub-categories together, I've just read Wikipedia:Categorization of people and things are done differently here. Mako Idemitsu

Thanks so much for your efforts - calling attention to the copyright violation issue and rebuilding the article. I think that helps give the student a good example of how to write and cite an article. Do you mind giving the student of the University of Maryland's Women, Art and Culture class, led by Apdame, a chance to work on adding content to the subject that she chose which is due November 25?

Okay, I've just finished formatting the citations and adding an internal link, and I'm happy to leave it for now. I've sent you a thanks for saving this article as a stub, if it had been deleted as I'd wished ;I wouldn't have become enthralled with the subject as I have. Hopefully your student will do a good job of this article, Mako Idemitsu deserves to be more than a footnote in her father's article at ja:wikipedia, and half a sentence in her former husband's here. You're welcome. Don't actually "know" that much. Integrated a section from Three offices of Joseon, and a sentence from Hall of Worthies, sometimes because a topic doesn't have an article, bits and pieces of it ,which are needed to make another article understandable, will appear in other articles, when a new article is created, I find it worthwhile to hunt down those snippets and integrate them into the new article.--KTo288 (talk) 08:22, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

If it really bothers you pin a {{citation}} needed on it, there are different philosophies about this, and things have changed a bit, but you don't have to have every statement pinned down with references, having unreferenced material serves as a catalyst for improvement, either it will be expanded on and referenced or deleted. why don't you find the secondary sources

The tag was not to disparage your work on the article, but was added as part of the new article patrol process, I'm sure I would do no better than you at finding secondary sources, given that the formation is still relatively new.
