Woodbury High School

You have made numerous edits removing a non-existant Wikilink to Woodbury Junior/Senior High School. While the article does not exist -- yet -- there is no reason to remove it. Keeping both the red link to Woodbury Junior/Senior High School and the external link will allow school information to be accessible via the external link until teh wiki article is created and will allow the article to remain unchanged once the article is created. Until then, treat Woodbury Junior/Senior High School as a palce holder for an article that is on its way. Alansohn 20:00, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Colonial Conference

The Wikipedia tables are going to end up setting the column width to fit the widest item in each column. You can tinker with the widths, but you're only going to create more problems for yourself and for those on different browsers. Leave well enough alone. There's no need to list all of the member schools in the high school articles, and I would strongly suggest removing the list and just leaving the first sentence, which describes the conference. Great work! Alansohn 20:08, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Date links

In general, the Manual of Style discourages linking year-only dates. The general rule should be that you should only wikilink something that people might reasonably link to. So it would probably be appropriate in a sentence "The year 1972 was a pivotal year in American politics", but not "The school opened in 1972". Also avoid duplicating links; linking teh same term that has been linked previously, especially if its within a few paragraphs of another mention. Alansohn 20:50, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Clayton HS

Hey Alansohn I noticed you're the one who created most of the South Jersey high school pages. However, there is no Clayton High School page. When I searched for it the closest thing that came up was Clayton Middle/High School which has no official page. Is there any way that you can delete that and create "Clayon High School (New Jersey)"? I feel that the "Middle" in "Middle/High School" is unnecessary...if anything it could be Clayton Junior-Senior High School like you did for Woodbury's page. I'd help edit the Clayton one whenever possible. Thanks. -jrcla2

  • While I'm not crazy about the name, the school district used Clayton Middle/High School to refer to the school. I will try to create a shell for this page as soon as possible. Alansohn 02:49, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
    • You asked for it, and I created it. Within three minutes, some jerk has decided that it should be deleted. You may want to express your thoughts, pro or con, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Clayton Middle/High School. Alansohn 03:42, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
      • I have to apologize for the behavior of the many self-appointed guardians of Wikipedia; the standard type of this model is someone who has often edited hardly any articles but has granted himself the God-like authority to decide which articles should (invariably) be deleted based on their rigid interpretation of what they think Wikipedia policy is. Only a small percentage of articles are ever submitted for deletion, and a tiny fraction are proposed for deletion with such abundant speed and insensitivity. I have tremendous respect for the time you have taken to look at other articles, trying to figure out the rules and applying them to the best of your ability to genuinely improve articles. The Woodbury Junior-Senior High School was a mere stub, only slightly better than the Clayton HS article, before you started improving it. If I recall, I had made several thousand edits before I started adding anything like the quality sources you have done over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, this article is unlikely to be retained in the face of such obstinate resistance to the reality of building good articles. Fear not. I have made a copy of the article under my user ID and I can show you how to clone it, so that you can create a working copy of your own. If the rabid hordes won't allow you the time to expand the article, you will be able to edit you own "personal" copy of the article and then move it to a regular Wikipedia article once its reached a point where it can stand up to the circling sharks at an AfD. Feel free to reach out to me if I can help with this or any other article. Ignore the negative types and keep up the excellent work! Alansohn 18:17, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Browning Ross redirect?

Hey Alansohn, I realized that a lot of people who look for H. Browning Ross will search for "Browning Ross" instead, because that's what most people called him and few actually know his first name of Harris. I was wondering if you could set up a new wikipedia page entitled "Browning Ross" and then have it automatically redirect to "H. Browning Ross". Thanks! -Jrcla2

  • I have to assume you're asking me to do it because you don't know how to do it yourself. Click right here on Browning Ross, which will bring up a blank shell for this new article. On the bar atop the text area, click on the "#R" icon, which will create a shell redirect, and type in "H. Browning Ross" (without the quotes) to create the redirect. Click on "preview" to make sure the article exists (it'll show up in blue, rather than red), and click on save. Done. Let me know if you have any problems with this. Alansohn 22:07, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Olympic Conference

You've made a lot of progress on sports conferences, and these articles are really starting to shape up. In general, you don't need to include a "super category" in an article, which is a category included in another category. For example, Olympic Conference includes the Category:New Jersey high school athletic conferences which in turn includes both Category:Sports in New Jersey and Category:High school sports conferences and leagues in the United States. Once you've added the New Jersey high school athletic conferences category, you don't need (or want) to include the Sports in NJ or High school sports conferences and leagues in the United States categories as they are both supercats of the New Jersey high school athletic conferences category. I hope this makes sense. Keep up all the great work! Alansohn 22:58, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Dave Budd

The template that was added to Dave Budd did not mean the article was libelous. It is just a warning placed on all biography articles on Wikipedia whose subject is living saying that libelous information should not be posted on that article. Do not worry. There is no libelous information on that article. Sorry if you misunderstood the template. Captain panda 03:59, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Overbrook conference change

It probably would have been a decent idea on our part to omit the number of member schools in each school article and save us some wasted effort if there are moves like with Overbrook. Thanks again for all of your efforts. Alansohn (talk) 20:19, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Yeah it probably would have been a good idea, but I don't mind changing it when the time comes. Speaking of which, Bridgeton High School is applying in January to become a member of the Tri-County Conference and moving out of the Cape-Atlantic League (CAL). So, we might have to change those member schools again sooner rather than later.

Jrcla2 (talk) 21:50, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

New article you'd probably want to add to your watchlist

Hey Alansohn- I created the Cape-Atlantic League (also redirects from "Cape Atlantic League") tonight while I was bored. I haven't added the wikilink to each school's page yet, but I just thought I'd let you know because you like to watch these types of pages. I also added it in the dismbig page to CAL, too. Jrcla2 (talk) 03:53, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the heads up. I'd been meaning to create it and thanks for actually doing it and for all your efforts on high school articles. Alansohn (talk) 03:56, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Woodstown High School

Created this tonight. It was long overdue, considering it was the only Tri-County school that didn't have its own page. Jrcla2 (talk) 01:07, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

  • I had been waiting for a good reason to create it, a source that had to have an article wrapped around it, but nothing had jumped out at me. Thanks for this long overdue article and for cleaning up all of my South Jersey school messes. Alansohn (talk) 01:33, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

citing problem

Could you check out Woodbury Junior-Senior High School and fix the citation error in the new infobox? I don't know what's bad about it but reference #1 at the bottom of the article says something is. Jrcla2 (talk) 20:31, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Done. See this link for the other piece of the set. The text portion has the link, and the infobox points to that same link. I usually pick one school to use as a template and copy over both parts. Alansohn (talk) 23:11, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Useful "Notable Alumni" link

I found this link on the NJSIAA website. Granted, it's mostly North Jersey schools that are represented, but it's still a really great source for "Notable Alumni" into their respective Wikipedia high school pages. Jrcla2 (talk) 21:17, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the link. I will add it to my list of places to check for HS details. Sometimes it can be hard to associate a notable with a school with a reliable sources, and this site solves that for many individuals. Thanks for all your efforts. Alansohn (talk) 22:45, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

CAL + GCT

Is there any way to align the two conferences (in Cape-Atlantic League) so that the spacing looks better? You know, to make them evenly spread out across the page? It's just a vanity issue but it kinda bugs me and I don't know how to fix it. Also, I created the Gloucester County Times a couple nights ago. Jrcla2 (talk) 02:22, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the GCT article, which has been a gaping hole. The way to address the table alignment is to put them in one table and have the heading cross multiple columns for each conference. Play with it on your own. I'll try to find some model articles for you. Keep up the great work! Alansohn (talk) 02:34, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Can you align the Colonial Conference (New Jersey) into 6 columns like you did (albeit 5) for the Cape-Atlantic League? I tried to do it myself but couldn't figure it out. Thanks in advance. Jrcla2 (talk) 20:43, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Need your help

Hey- Could you go to Gene R. Nichol and scroll down to the very bottom of the page where there's an "incumbent succession box" template. It says that he's still the president of W&M and that "Incumbent" is going to be succeeding him. Nichol actually stepped down as president a week ago and the interim president is W. Taylor Reveley, III. I don't know how to get the template to show this status change and was hoping maybe you knew how to fix it. Thanks again. Jrcla2 (talk) 05:42, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

  • I played with the box last night and I can't figure out what the successor parameter is. I'll play around with it some more. Alansohn (talk) 12:30, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

List of 2000 point, 1000 rebound college men's basketball players

I've moved the article as requested. FYI you just use the "move" tab at the top of the article's page. Reggie Perrin (talk) 02:07, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey, just one quick request - when you're adding links to people's pages in a see also form, like you did with Tyrone Hill, could you place it at the bottom of the page? Italicized links at at the top of pages are generally used for same-name disambiguation. Related article see-also generally is put at the bottom of the page. Thanks. matt91486 (talk) 22:53, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Understandable. And yeah, it'll get worked out over time. It's just as a future reference, if a similar situation arises. matt91486 (talk) 23:13, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Jeff Cohen (basketball)

No, I don't at all believe that he is "notable" simply because he was drafted into the NBA, especially considering HUNDREDS of players are drafted into the league YEARLY. I don't at all believe that alone makes the man notable, especially in comparison with listed alumni such as Harrison Ford, Bill Yoast, and Glenn Miller and the fact that he never succeeded in the league. I'm not trying to get into some edit war with you, and maybe you'd like to pose the question on the Sigma Nu Talk Page, but I'm confident in saying you'll get the same response from other editors. Stephen King (soccer)

Two things;

  1. Don't delete AfD templates
  2. Being in a squad does not make a player notable; he has to actually play for them. If you don't believe me, ask on the WP:FOOTY talk page.

While on the surface Cale's achievement may seem trivial, he is a well-recognized figure in Schalick's history and in the community... a community that, based on your bio, you are not a part of. Do not deny Cale Hayes (the correct spelling) the right to be recognized for his 91st place achievement, which also marked his first overcoming of his social anxiety. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Van Rainbow (talkcontribs) 00:57, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Cale Hayes

Sir, I don't appreciate the threat you made towards my person. Also, I am not the same user as whomever else you are talking of, I am myself. True, I am new to this Wikipedia thing, but the way I see it is that this is the people's encyclopedia. As such, the people should decide who is a notable alumni and who isn't. With this reasoning I don't see why every alumni couldn't have their own personal achievements up on the high-school's page(there is no limit to the information that can be dispayed, and every tidbit would only give someone researching the school more). Cale has other achievements of note, he recieved an impressive scholarship from Rensselaer over everyone else in the class of 2007. He was also the homecoming king, over everyone else in the class of 2007. But these are achievements that he personally is not proud of, he is however proud of that race in which he finally broke out of the 100's of a large cross country event(you should know how hard that is if you've ever participated in one). So, I'm sorry I bothered you with an inclusion on the page I thought would have some sentimental value for a dear friend. But nevertheless I'm confused by your threatening motions. Should I include Cale's other achievements as a student of Arthur P. Schalick and include the race as a side note? Or are you representing all of the people on Wikipedia, and all of the people of Arthur P. Schalick, when you tell me that a notable person is not notable?

Alumni House

Hiya, I added the Notability tag, as I don't believe that the article as it currently stands adequately states what is notable about the building. Why exactly is the building historically notable, for example, or what have those groups which have used it done to make the building (rather than the group) notable. --JulesN Talk 02:04, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, wrt Alumni House if you add what you wrote on my talk page "The building is notable because it is a registered historic building in the City of Williamsburg and also because it the central building for all William & Mary alumni and/or historical functions. It is a 19th century building that is one of two "focal points" of the College campus; the other being Blow Memorial Hall." and add references for those facts then I'll agree that the notability tag should be removed. Also, could I suggest that you alter your sig so that it links to your user/talk pages. --JulesN Talk 23:20, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
I've removed the tag on the article. Good luck with getting everything up and referenced on it. --JulesN Talk 01:17, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

User Gregchance324

Can you please block this user for a year or longer? Look at his history and edits - all he does it completely vandalize and rip apart TCRHS. He's a total waste of life. -Jrcla2 (talk) 07:07, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

  • As a non-administrator, there's nothing i can do that you can't to deal with the problem. Most unfortunately, Wikipedia policy is stacked in favor of vandals. Legitimate editors need to deal with the vandalism, file warnings on their talk pages and then report the vandal at WP:AIV. If the admin powers that be decide that the vandalism is enough of the problem, a block may be imposed. For chronic abusers ("vandalism-only accounts"), such as User:Gregchance324, the blocks may be imposed more quickly, but all they have to do is go to a different IP and they're back in business. If one page has been the target of chronic vandalism, you can use WP:RPP to request semi-protection of the page, which would prevent any IP or new IDs from editing the page. The process is imperfect at best, but if we all do our best to deal with vandals, we can deal with the most annoying individuals some of the time. All my best for all your work on improving articles! Image Copyright problem

Hi Jrcla2!
We thank you for uploading Image:TriCountyConference.gif, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Yes, some of the edits may not have direct citations, but they are otherwise listed through cross-referencing with the original WM article. Furthermore, Wikipedia was asking for organization of the page, which I provided. I dont appreciate you simply undoing all of that. If you disagree with portions, correct them individually. Lastly, they are not "peacock phrases as you put it. There was definitely a better way of putting the text for flow purposes. My apologies about having reverted your addition. I made a mistake. The Germantown, Montgomery County, Maryland article is a frequent target for vandals who like to add their own name to the "Persons of Note" section and then make some stuff up about how great they are. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Speedy deletion of Tribe Club

A tag has been placed on Tribe Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. —Largo Plazo (talk) 17:06, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Nu Kappa Epsilon

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nu Kappa Epsilon, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

A search for references has failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources in order to comply with notability requirements. This has included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:

Nu Kappa Epsilon – news, books, scholar Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. NJSIAA athletic conferences?

I was just wondering if you know of any more NJSIAA conferences besides the ones listed in "Category:New Jersey high school athletic conferences"? If you take a look at the NJSIAA Wikipedia page, go to the bottom and check out all the navboxes I've created over the past week. I'd like to account for ALL New Jersey high schools, including the ones independent of NJSIAA jurisdiction (e.g. St. Benedict's) but I don't know of any other conferences. Could you help me out if you ge tthe chance? Thanks. -Jrcla2 (talk)(contribs) 04:51, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

I can do a double-check, but I think that we had created articles for all of them. The NJSIAA's proposed realignment is going to wreak havoc, but we can deal with that if it ever gets implemented. We can do a spot check to see if there are any high schools not within an existing league as a way to spot any missing templates / articles. Alansohn (talk) 06:28, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

National Federation of State High School Associations as parent organization

I noticed you added National Federation of State High School Associations as the "parent" of the Illinois High School Association in the IHSA article. I think this may confuse some people, since NFHS derives its authority from the state high school associations, not the other way around. --Closeapple (talk) 20:45, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Deleting references sections

After posting my reply to your note on my talk page, I went to the said article and noticed that you undid my deletion of the Ref's section. Thus, the Ref's section now appears twice in the article (above and below "External Links"). As you can see in my reply on my talk page, I had first copied the Ref's section and then pasted it it above "Ext Links", so that it wouldn't be accidentally lost. After copying and pasting, I then deleted it from its original place below "Ext Links." Because the "Ref's section now appears twice in the article, I am going to delete its second appearance (below Ext Links). Eagle4000 (talk) 23:23, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment in the RFC. Although I'd prefer to keep the "logo" infobox as the primary one, in order to keep the peace with multiple other editor I've switched {{User:UBX/MLB-Phillies}} and {{User:UBX/MLB-Phillies2}}. This switch will very likely be permanent. So you'll probably want to add the digit "2" to the code on your userpage. Otherwise everything should work the same. Richmond Spiders football final national rankings

Hey, thanks. Yeah, I've admired your work and have been working to try to add UR pages when I have the time to do so. :) I completely agree with having final rankings, but it's a bit awkward now with having to put it in the incorrect "AP" section. Interestingly enough, there is a "TSNRank" parameter in the documentation for the NCAATeamSeason template, but it's not in the actual template. I proposed awhile ago that it be added to the template, but got no response. I had thought it could go into the same AP/Coaches/BCS setup currently used in the template, but based on the current formatting, that requires adding a bunch of new permutations, and I haven't pursued it for lack of time and fear that I'll break something due to my inexperience with templates. FCS Rankings in Season Infoboxes

I left my opinion (sort of) on the Alumni Stadium topic...thanks for the heads-up. Wanted to let you know that I've developed a modified football infobox template that will allow season rankings for FCS schools to be displayed. It's currently in my sandbox for testing and I've left a note on the template talk page asking for help testing it before it goes live, but haven't gotten any responses yet. Would you mind giving it a try by previewing some test edits to season articles to see if it works?

It appears to work for FCS schools if people are sure to only fill in TSNRank and FCSCoachRank fields. It also doesn't appear to break existing FBS school infoboxes using BCSRank, APRank, and CoachRank, but I'd appreciate input from anyone else who can do some testing. The only difficulty I see so far is fixing FCS pages where editors have put FCS rankings into the "incorrect" fields in order to get them visible. 2009 William & Mary Tribe football team is obviously one of those, but I'm sure there are more. Thanks. WildCowboy (talk) 18:45, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

It works fine for me on the 2009 Tribe page...sorry I wasn't clear about what needed to be done to test it. It took me a long time of staring at the template before I even contemplated tackling it. Here's what to do: 1) Change the "NCAATeamFootballSeason" template title for the infobox to "User:WildCowboy/Sandbox"; 2) Replace the "APRank" and "CoachRank" entries with new ones reading "TSNRank= 5" and "FCSCoachRank= 5"; 3) Hit the "Show preview" button and you should see proper rankings. Some additional tweaks to the displayed titles could be made to make it clear that they are FCS rankings, but I think the template works. WildCowboy (talk) 19:50, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and thanks for the support on the template talk page! WildCowboy (talk) 19:51, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
I implemented the infobox template change and everything looks good so far. I updated UR and W&M infoboxes using the new parameters where necessary, but feel free to double check me. There are a few more FCS programs that have individual season pages, and I'll check those over over the next couple of days to see what needs to be converted to the new format. By the way, I noticed that the W&M logo on the older season pages is now broken, as it looks like you updated the logo with a new image and then decided to move it elsewhere, breaking the old logo. I was going to fix it, but wasn't sure which logo you wanted where, so I'll leave that to a W&M-associated editor. :) WildCowboy (talk) 19:13, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
I reverted back to the version that contained the old logo, so that should automatically fix it in any locations it was used. Let me know if that wasn't what you intended. :) WildCowboy (talk) 21:00, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

CAA Realignment

Jrcla2, I just read an article stating that Georgia State football will be moved to the North Division. I'm changing the conference alignment to show it. I think it's crazy for them to do that, but the CAA said that they're the new team and don't fit in, so that's where they have to play. The reason behind this is that Georgia State was admitted in 2005 without the knowledge they wanted to play football and the league is basically stuck with them and the fact that every home game against Georgia State will require a team to charter a flight to Atlanta at a CAA predicted cost of $60k-$80k depending on the team. It also messes with the scheduling because the league will allow the GSU to play a modified CAA schedule - four games against each division. The remainder of the league will begin playing a five-and-three mix on a rotating basis in 2012. What this eventually means is that there will come a point when a school like ODU will find itself in a two-year loop playing a schedule without one of its natural rivals - William and Mary, for example - because it's forced to make room for Georgia State. An interesting part of the article states that to solve this the CAA is actually looking into adding 2 more teams, Fordham and Stony Brook in NY. Fordham has announced it will start giving scholarships for football, which is not allowed in the Patriot League where they currently are, and they may be forced out for breaking the conference by-laws/regulations. Stony Brook is playing in the Big South and has said it is a financial problem for them due to travel costs. The conference alignment would then be divided by New York City. Fordham and Stony Brook along with Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Northeastern, Maine, New Hampshire and Hofstra in the North Division. The CAA South with James Madison, Richmond, William and Mary, Old Dominion, Towson, Villanova, Delaware and Georgia State. The league isn't concerned with the playoff implications because they're already sending 5 teams to the 16 team playoff and with the playoff expanding to 20 games, by the time Georgia State gets there in 2012, it shouldn't matter and they'll be able to send 6-7 teams to the 20. I have previously tried to get North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball seasons up to FL status, but have fallen short. Currently, there is no College Basketball season article that is up to FL status (but there are a bunch of NBA season list articles), and so I think it would be valuable to have one of these created so that others can follow the format. I'll take a look at the W&M logos (new and old) in a bit and see what I can do to fix things...no problem. WildCowboy (talk) 21:18, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

I added rationales for both new and old W&M logos, so those should be in good shape. A couple of notes: 1) The men's basketball and women's soccer team pages still use the old logo. Do you want those updated to the new logo (with appropriate rationales added)? 2) The old logo is used on Gene Nichol and Wren Society, but it seems like the university seal or nothing might be more appropriate for those than the old athletic logo. 3) The old athletic logo has a rationale for use on the main The College of William & Mary page, but it appears to have been removed from that page in favor of the new one. If that is in fact the case, the rationale on the old logo page can be removed. Let me know if you need any advice on or help with these issues. I figured a W&M-related editor should at least be involved in these decisions. :) WildCowboy (talk) 21:49, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the input. I've updated the articles and rationales accordingly, so I think they should be good to go. If you include the logo on any other new pages you create, be sure to add rationales for them. You can see by editing the logo pages that they use the simple Template:Logo fur for each page and generally only need a couple of pieces of information in order to be complete. Feel free to ping me if you need assistance with it though. WildCowboy (talk) 01:23, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

I have nominated List of NCAA Division I men's basketball players with 2000 points and 1000 rebounds, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of NCAA Division I men's basketball players with 2000 points and 1000 rebounds. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Breast

Breast is not one of the seven dirty words, adding this template is inappropriate. If you want to add it, then find consensus on the talk page. Dreadstar 08:15, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

No, "breast" is not, but "tit" is a disambiguation page which would be entirely inappropriate for that template. And it's clear on the template that (even though the link itself is breast, the alt-link title is tit. You're being ridiculous. Jrcla2 (talk) 08:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I disagree, the article title is not "tit"; and besides, edit warring is not the way to go about adding the tag. Take it to the talk page and see if you can gain consensus. Dreadstar ☥ 08:42, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Careful about commenting on other editor, read through WP:CIV and WP:NPA. Dreadstar 08:44, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Re:William & Mary Tribe football redirects

The 1893 through 1989 seasons aren't like that because this is a work in progress. Same with the Penn State articles Some of them are still putting the collection page in the category, but all of the more recent stuff has the redirects in the season category. We could take a quick run through and finish them all up to make it all clean and consistent. If you were to take a look at all of the collected team season pages like this from 1990 onwards, and you'll see this convention in use. For example, Category:1991 NCAA Division I-A football season. When a season article redirects to a section, it makes more sense to put that in the season category, rather than the top of the article. That way, when a user gets to the article from the category, he/she will automatically be directed to the section about that season. DeFaultRyan 19:49, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Re:Tobacco Bowl

Cool...thanks. I'll take a look and see if I can track down any more info on it. WildCowboy (talk) 14:14, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Capital Cup

I modified I-64 Bowl to reflect the new "Capital Cup" trophy and created a redirect for Capital Cup pointing there. I'm debating whether to move the whole article to Capital Cup, as I'm not really sure what the game (rather than the trophy) is now officially called, if it ever really had an official name...thoughts? Regardless, I'm sure there will be changes required in other articles due to the new trophy. WildCowboy (talk) 19:42, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

I've received confirmation from UR sports information that both the game and the trophy will be known as the Capital Cup. Unfortunately, having already put the redirect to I-64 Trophy on that page, I can't move the article there myself. I've put in a request for an administrator to make the move and will begin updating things once that happens. WildCowboy (talk) 15:34, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
I was actually told that the point of the renaming was to get rid of the "I-64" usage...not sure exactly why though. The move has been made, and I'm just now cleaning up some templates and things with the new name. WildCowboy (talk) 16:38, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

W&M Colors

In the logo redesign, W&M moved from bright green and yellow colors to the more traditional darker green and gold. Do you happen to know or know where to find exactly what colors the school has designated as the new official colors? I feel like the W&M-related templates would look better if they adopted the more subtle color palette, but I'm not sure exactly which colors should be used. Another DYK?

If you want to help out with another possible DYK, I am practically finished with the Fred Boye article, but I would still really appreciate any help you could provide. Remember (talk) 20:34, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

I have added more stuff and I am about to create the article and propose it as a DYK. Let me know if you see any remaining issues. Thanks. Remember (talk) 18:26, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for all your help. The nomination can be found here - [2]. Remember (talk) 19:28, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

On November 30, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Fred Boye, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Thanks again for helping me with this! Remember (talk) 13:30, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Re: Ouch

Yeah, that was crazy...almost couldn't believe that Howard made the kick. He was so solid for the first 2.5 years of his career, but has struggled considerably since then. Of course, we've had some snapping problems this year that have hurt him too. 'Nova, UR, and W&M are also so close...UNH too. Any one of them could win it all. Best of luck to the Tribe in the first round...here's hoping we don't meet again in the second round. WildCowboy (talk) 01:34, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Re: Incorrect revert

My bad, sorry about that. I just looked at it again, and now I have absolutely no clue why I reverted...perhaps two mistaken clicks in MWT? But in any case, I will indeed be much more careful in the future (still kinda new here, so still getting the hang of things). Thanks for pointing out the mistake! :) Getmoreatp (talk) 14:11, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Re: Spiders' final rankings

Awesome...thanks for both of those! Didn't realize the number of different polls that used to be around; that complicates the infobox poll options. The template was something that's been on my list of things to do, but hadn't gotten around to it, so thanks for stepping up on that. I'm not a huge fan of the red text, especially since it makes some regular text look like redlinks, but that's an easy change if we decide to go that route. Is that color scheme of school colors standard for college program templates? I haven't really looked at them to know what people are usually doing. I've been sidetracked a bit now that basketball season has started trying to get some semblance of a UR presence there too, so my football contributions have tailed off a bit beyond keeping what's already there up-to-date. WildCowboy (talk) 01:14, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

I see most of the other program templates use just standard text colors within the data section and work the school colors in through the title and section headings...I think that looks better than trying to carry over school colors into the links and data section. I'll take a look at it when I have a few minutes. Thanks a lot of getting the ball rolling though...lots of great stuff to work with there. WildCowboy (talk) 04:40, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Just noticed you've been doing quite a bit of work on Spider pages over the holiday weekend...thanks! :) WildCowboy (talk) 04:46, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Where did you get the Spiders' all-time record (480–602–53 through 2008) from for Template:Richmond Spiders Football? Page 34 of the Historical Supplement of the UR recruiting guide for this year shows 479-600-53 through last year. There were some minor discrepancies with the basketball records in various places that I resolved by going through the 2000+ games listed in UR's hoops media guide to get an "accurate" count, so there may be some on the football side as well that I'll check out depending on where you got your info from. WildCowboy (talk) 23:08, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Sigh...thanks. I'll go through and compare those results with UR's media guide results to see where they differ. WildCowboy (talk) 14:06, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

You're just focused on this week's game and got distracted, that's all! Best of luck to the Tribe...if the Spiders can't win it, I'd be happy to see W&M bring home the championship. WildCowboy (talk) 00:26, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Tough loss for the Tribe, but a great, competitive game. Terrific season for all three top CAA South squads, and one of them still isn't done. Gotta be a 'Nova fan now. WildCowboy (talk) 04:23, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Mason-Dixon

Mason-Dixon Conference. I really hate to do this to you, because I absolutely hate dinging an editor who does a ton of really good work here. But the Mason-Dixon article is completely unsourced; this stood out to me most particularly because it's quite apparent that I am the source. Your paragraph text is lifted almost verbatim from my own website, which actually is protected by copyright and nearly all paragraph text there is laced with my opinions (meaning that not only is it copying, it's also not necessarily WP:NPOV). I think you, as an experienced editor, can see the problem here. I think it's probably unethical for me to fix it; indeed, I try to avoid making any edits other than simple copyediting to any CFB articles because my editing of the articles can almost always be viewed as an expression of original research. Can you work on it and make it your words rather than mine? And cite? JFMorse (talk) 21:15, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Awesome. I appreciate your courtesy.  :) The link is http://www.jonfmorse.com/level/sports/cfb/confs/d3.shtml to the specific page. Funny thing -- I found this specifically because I'm trying to sort out both the Mason-Dixon and Potomac conferences for basketball right now, which is a PAIN because neither conference appears to have played a standard conference schedule, and some teams were in both conferences (UMBC being the example which broke my brain). That said, I'd advise being very careful using that information from American, because the M-D basketball conference and the M-D football conference don't appear to have always been perfectly aligned, per the annual NCAA football and basketball guides. Still trying to sort all that out. I could lecture at length on the subject of historical inaccuracies... ;) JFMorse (talk) 22:04, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Just finished cross-referencing all available media guides and whatnot, and have the membership list for basketball. (Thankfully, it was far more complete than the football information.) Since it's actually the only D-II conference I've completed for basketball, it'll be some time before I get it posted to my site; I can get you the info if you'd like it, though.
