Drn.

Hi there. I don’t mind an RfC, not sure what else to say in Drn. Feel like the discussion became circular, personally I have nothing else to add and already said what I had to say. Just wanted to let you know. Have a good one. ZaniGiovanni (talk) 12:26, 31 March 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for reaching out, ZaniGiovanni. I'll draft an RfC. A. C. SantacruzPlease ping me! 12:33, 31 March 2022 (UTC)

Talk page revert

In what sense is this not a FORUM intervention, or in any way a helpful Talk contribution? The two comments both read as straightforward cisbro posturing. Newimpartial (talk) 12:36, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

The point about a circular definition being unhelpful makes sense, and their saying simple definition is most accurate backs the current consensus on the article itself (adult human female is the current definition on the article). The first comment thus does not seem like a forum intervention.
The second point about people not having to tailor their words to avoid causing offense is wrong and borderline uncivil, but I fail to see how it is soapboxing when the thread was discussing the merits of a previous comment being a forum post. It is related to the discussion on the talk page and thus not an uncalled-for soapbox on Womanhood, for example. They may read as peak cishet pandering, but in light of the other discussions I fail to see the comments as harmful and/or unrelated enough to fall under the FORUM category. Just because we don't agree with what the IP says or don't see it as especially helpful does not mean we can call it a FORUM post. In any case, thanks for dropping by my talkpage and I hope you're having a nice week so far, Newimpartial :) A. C. SantacruzPlease ping me! 12:44, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Thanks. You too.
The fact is, I do still believe both of these "contributions" to be FORUM posts. The second one is trying to argue back at a comment you made months ago with essentially a "sticks and stones" argument - those kinds of discussions on the boundaries of CIVIL are inherently off-topic, I think. And the first contribution doesn't acknowledge what circularity actually means and engages in drive-by disparagement (political flavor of the day) of what had been a fairly earnest discussion. So yes, both firmly FORUM IMO. Newimpartial (talk) 12:53, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
The second one might be arguing back months afterwards, but I think it's best to just leave it be. The first one might be wrong, sure, but I genuinely can't see the whole message as FORUM. The last remark might've been unnecessary, but I'll disagree with you it needs reverting. I think we'll just have to disagree on this point, and if anyone other than you reverts me I won't litigate the issue, but I think we can just let the random IP blabber on and hope they become a useful contributor at some point. Apologies...

...for jumping the gun in the ANI discussion about the Ukraine far right dispute. I think I've only once commented in a dispute and never been party to one so wasn't clear on the rules. BobFromBrockley (talk) 16:58, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

Bobfrombrockley I'm unsure what you are referring to and would appreciate if you could clarify. What ANI thread are you referring to? A. C. SantacruzPlease ping me! 18:03, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

Sorry I meant dispute resolution notice board not ANI! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard#Far-right_politics_in_Ukraine BobFromBrockley (talk) 08:12, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

I see. Don't worry Bobfrombrockley! If this is your first time at DRN you might benefit from reading some of the archives to see how most cases go. You're not in any trouble, it's good to see editors are still interested in the discussion (sometimes we get cases where everyone is kind of tired of each other). My tone sometimes comes across as passive-aggressive so I hope I didn't scare you or anything ^u^ A. C. SantacruzPlease ping me! 09:26, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

RfC

Hi, Im not an expert, but how long RfC should last, and any action required from me? Thanks!--Abrvagl (talk) 15:17, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

30 days, and what do you mean by "action required", Abrvagl? A. C. SantacruzPlease ping me! 16:41, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
I meant that do I need to take any actions, like comment, or I dont know. But you answered my question! Thanks Abrvagl (talk) 19:42, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
If you are referring to the DRN RfC, you can comment your preference there, Abrvagl. Closing and other actions should be left for experienced editors on request. A. C. SantacruzPlease ping me! 06:25, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

DRN update

I think you should consider closing this request because editors apparently agreed with this version about 2 days ago and the talk page discussion was also stale. Just now, Asarlaí has resumed his edit warring with misleading edit summaries again[1] so I find it to be largely a conduct issue and not a content dispute anymore. ArvindPalaskar (talk) 16:37, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

ArvindPalaskar, thanks for coming to my talk page. I was going to move to closing it due to inactivity in the case but forgot, thanks for the reminder. Enjoy the rest of the week :) A. C. SantacruzPlease ping me! 16:40, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Jonathan D. Gray

Hello A.C. Santacruz. Would you mind looking at my edit request for Jonathan D. Gray, the president and COO of Blackstone Group. I saw your name listed as a member of Category:WikiProject Finance & Investment participants, so I hope this will be of interest to you. It's a straightforward edit request to add information on his career in the last few years, beyond where the current information stops. It can be found at Talk:Jonathan D. Gray. Thanks so much for your attention. ThomasClements Blackstone (talk) 18:19, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

New username, who dis?

Heyo! I like the new name! What made you chose it? Sideswipe9th (talk) 15:14, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

Sideswipe9th I became concerned that the pseudonym might be confused for someone I don't know with the same name so to avoid any weird future interactions I just thought I'd go for an obvious internet-style name. I'm glad you like it, Sideswipe9th :D Ixtal ⁂ (talk) 15:34, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
I like it too Rlink2 (talk) 15:46, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
I don't! I OBJECT! Now ACS is no longer the short hand, and Ixt is only two letters from Ixtal, so I can't use that. I'm going to have to type out two extra letters every time I'm referencing her for the rest of forever! ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:51, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
ScottishFinnishRadish inb4 my new name gives you RSI :P — Ixtal ⁂ (talk) 15:52, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
Simple solution, set up AutoHotKey or a keyboard macro, or a button on an Elgato Stream Deck to just type Ixtal for you! Bring it down from three button presses to one! Sideswipe9th (talk) 16:57, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

Spanish-language sources

Hi Ixtal; I did not know you had been renamed!

I was hoping you could help me with something. There is a deletion discussion for our article on Gonzalo Lira, and in general I am leaning delete due to WP:1E. However, there are two sources that might be coverage beyond WP:1E, but they are both in Spanish, and Google Translate was not helpful.

If you have time, can you have a look at them and let me know whether you think they are significant, reliable and independent? Gonzalo Lira: "Escribir no es ningún misterio" and El Hombre del Millon de Dolares?

BilledMammal (talk) 11:11, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

The first link is most definitely significant and would indicate notability by itself in my opinion. The pdf is from an article in El Mercurio, Chile's top newspaper (see digital reference backing this up in the Chilean national digital archive of the article). Both are interviews of the ones you'd expect of major literary figures, so while the biographical information may not be entirely independent, they to me indicate notability. The Chilean national digital library has 24 articles on him which altogether confirms that. Hope this helps, BilledMammal! — Ixtal ⁂ (talk) 16:49, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
BTW feel free to paste my comment on to the discussion if you think it would be helpful, although I will not comment there due to your contacting me possibly being mistaken for canvassing. — Ixtal ⁂ (talk) 16:52, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
Thank you! Quoted you in that discussion. BilledMammal (talk) 21:35, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
Quite a bit of canvassing and bludgeoning going on in that discussion it seems. Yikes. Glad I only engage in controversial politics when it comes up at DRN (mostly). — Ixtal ⁂ (talk) 22:04, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
It appears that he has a bit of a fan club that is causing issues; I found it when it was mentioned in this AN discussion BilledMammal (talk) 23:04, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
Football! That's a shitshow I've been glad to avoid the past few weeks. Not that it's been easy, BilledMammal. — Ixtal ⁂ (talk) 23:09, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
You're a smarter person than I am; I've tried to stick to Olympians, but I have been dragged into a few football discussions. BilledMammal (talk) 23:12, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
