July 2015 edit

Please do not remove information from articles, as you did to 9/11 conspiracy theories. Wikipedia is not censored, and content is not removed on the sole grounds of perceived offensiveness. Please discuss this issue on the article's talk page to reach consensus rather than continuing to remove the disputed material. If the content in question involves images, you also have the option to configure Wikipedia to hide the images that you may find offensive. Thank you. "Indians" -> "Native Americans" edit

Actually, usage is generational and regional. Many older Natives prefer "Indian," this also holds true for younger traditionals. See, for instance, the American Indian Movement. Then "Native American" became popular in the '80s, especially on the East Coast and in Academia, while the shortened, "Native" became more prevalent on the west coast. Younger people now tend to say "Indigenous." So, there's no one way to do this. In general we stick with what makes sense for the era and people being discussed, and how they describe or described themselves. When possible, we name the person's Nation (Lakota, Cheyenne, Inuit) and just skip the Native American name controversy all together. - CorbieV 16:21, 1 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

OK that's good to know. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm from Canada, and it seems that most Canadian programs, people etc. are much more sensitive on the name controversy (I've always preferred 'First Nations'). Either that or we have a much higher East Indian population and prefer clarification between the two.
I see you didn't reverse my edit, however. Is it alright as it stands? - Iheartthestrals, 10:45, 1 September 2015
Yes, in Canada, "First Nations" is almost always the preferred term. I think the edits themselves are probably fine; just wanted to give you a heads up that you don't need to go through the US articles changing it on sight. - CorbieV 22:53, 1 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thanks for creating this Wikipedia site. The site had been running for a while but, for some reason, was deleted a while ago. This is a good start and I have added some additional information to the page but I cannot access the info box. First, our head coach position is NOT vacant; the position is filled by Calvin Foster. Second, the Medicine Hat Junior B Cubs has been in existence since 1973, which is 42 years, not two years. I am on the Board of Directors of the Medicine Hat Junior B Cubs and I need to to make these changes to the info box or allow me to make changes; we also need to be adding quite a bit more information as we would like to link our 42-year history with the histories of former players. Thanks for your help with this. Elizebeth Berard — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eaberard (talkcontribs) 20:02, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Eaberard, and I highly appreciate your edits on this page. Firstly, I was on a tight schedule when I created this article, and since as well, and I have to make note that, as far as I can remember, the page listing the ooaching staff did not include, when this article was created, the name of the head coach. I listed it as vacant for the time being, and intended, when I had the time, to return and search further at a later date. Secondly, I knew very well that this team had not been founded so recently, but I had, as I said, limited time on my hands at the present, and had inserted the '2012-present' because the article needed a date. I was planning, as with the situation on the head coaching position, to investigate as a later date when my life as less hectic. Unfortunately the statistics and schedules only reach back as far as 2012, so that was, as you might say, my 'filler-date' until I could find out the true date of origin. Thirdly, I cannot understand why you would be unable to access the infobox. Are you editing mobile? I am unaware of any reasons why that would be the case, but I corrected the mistakes of coaching and date of origin now, and unless there is still a problem, the infobox should be fine. Thank you for finding the time to assist with this created article, as well. It is very much needed, considering the existence of articles on all fellow HJBHL teams. I apologize once more for the inaccuracies I published on this team, and I wish your the team the very best of luck this season. ~~Iheartthestrals (talk) 15:38, 12 November 2015.

KIJHL History edit

Hey, thanks alot for your work about the KIJHL and it's teams! The KHL/KIJHL did start in the 1969-70 season, but prior to that, the previous league either changed it's name, merged, or went defunct. I'm finding out via the commissioner and webmaster if the standings/champions still exist for that era FOR the KIJHL, or if it had nothing to do with the KI. Let me know what you know and think about it...not too many people edit Jr. B hockey pages anymore...

Read my talk page, I don't know if you get updates if I respond to your reply on my page...

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada edit

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Wikipedians interested in Aldershot Town F.C. edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Wikipedians interested in Aldershot Town F.C. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay.
