The anti-Semitic, pro-Fascist, and isolationist dictates of Joseph Breen, the Irish-Catholic censor of all Hollywood films from 1934 through World War Two, are well-documented and well-known. He was a supporter of Father Coughlin, the anti-Semitic, Nazi-supporting radio preacher. His ongoing relationship with the German consul in Los Angeles, Gysserling, is also well-known and documented. The only reason that this film required two endings was because of Breen's power over the distribution of American films, as any historian of the period well knows.

This bizarre eradications of the truth of blacklisted and merely pro-British films from more than seven decades ago is unreal. If you want me to footnote the history of Joseph Breen and his - ultimately futile- attempts to keep the truth of the Nazi government from the American people watching films in the 1930s and 40s, I will. What is particularly revealing, however, is how it is that someone like you - who are -- who? who are you? - consistently protect an approach to film history that was unmasked more than seven decades ago. Apparently, Mr. "Dream of Horses" - you are still trying to win a battle tht i'm sorry to say, but Nazi filmmakers lost - you LOST ok? get over it! - long long ago.

Any further arguments about Joseph Breen and his limits on American filmmakers is easily done.

Who are you? and why is the default setting of Wikipedia ALWAYS pro-Nazi? Hm? good question. Maybe you don't know anyone who fought in World War Two - oh, for the Allies, I might add - but I do. He's my father. He's ninety years old. And don't tell me that this ending of a film by George Stevens was anything but dictated by the pro-Nazi officials who were trying to control American media right up to Dec. 7 1941. and in fact- it took until Dec. 11, 1941- when Hitler declared war on America - before the isolationists gave up.

Well, of course you support Joseph Breen -- because you're the 21st Century version of him, aren't you? Proto-Nazi censors trying to keep the truth from American readers. About a film from 1940. Unbelievable.

Well, we won then and we'll win now.

Look it up. It's all there in the history books. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.175.31.28 (talk) 00:20, 1 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Is this enough number of references?? edit

Dear, please check page Sinan Alimanović: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinan_Alimanović I've updated his biography and applied some changes in external links as in the references (that is suggested). Is it ok now? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lej La La La (talkcontribs) 3:42 October 1, 2015

@Lej La La La: Yes, it's enough, however:
I have concerns over the fact that there are no inline citations. For example, when you look at Bald Bluff Township, Henderson County, Illinois, you'll notice the linked [1] after "As of the 2010 census, its population was 334 and it contained 159 housing units." The link goes down to the bottom of the page, where you'll find more information about the source used for that sentence. This is done with text that is put between a <ref> and a </ref>, and people often use links.
You can learn more about citations here, or you simply ask me more questions if you wish. --I dream of horses (C) @ 03:55, 1 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Macrophilia edit

Hi,

I'm writing to let you know that your revision was made in error. I'm someone from the Macrophile community, a very active member. I also run the NYC Macro/Micro meetup group, and have been a constant presence online in the size community for over a decade. This wikipedia page has been bothering me for years, and today I finally had to take a stand. This article is so wrong, and gives women and gay people something unusable. We want someone to google our fetish and not have to ask more questions because of gender labels in the article. It's stressful enough to come out to a partner or friend, and this article makes it no easier.

I'm a woman AND a macrophile, and half of this article reads incorrectly to me. The ONLY change I made to the article is to change pronouns to be genderless. It still reads the same for a hetero man in the GTS community. I'm urging you to help. This is actually a serious issue. I have spoken to countless girls and women like myself who suffer with this. We don't need to be isolated and ostracized more. We are here. We're in the thousands. We aren't some blip on the radar screen. Just read the talk page and see how the community has spoken out about this. This article will lose NOTHING by changing the pronouns, and only gain more support from people who have a resource that they can point to and say "This is me." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jitenshasw (talkcontribs) 18:49, October 2, 2015‎

@Diyiart: Unfortunately, this page is currently creation protected following its deletion at an AfD discussion (WP:Articles for deletion/Hu Zhiying) and it being recreated several times. The issues which led to it being deleted before will therefore need to be addressed. --Rubbish computer 17:19, 4 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Diyiart: I'm afraid the proposed article currently reads more like an advertisement than a Wikipedia entry (see WP:SOAP.) It also fails to properly establish his notability (impact on the wider world) through the use of vague wording, such as only stating the countries where he carried out exhibitions. To establish this, sources that have a reputation for fact checking and being reliable that are secondary (not directly to the subject), such as a news reporter reporting on him simply because he is newsworthy, need to be used. Most of the article consists of other people praising him, which isn't needed and makes it look like the article is advertising in favour of him. The list of his exhibitions also resembles a résumé, which is similarly unsuitable. Thanks, --Rubbish computer 17:27, 4 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Registeredagent: I nominated the article for speedy deletion, but Blackbombchu is the one who nominated for a discussion. So, it's not just one person doing this.
Keep working on the article, but don't remove the AfD tag. I dream of horses (C) @ 12:14, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Normally, the creator of an article isn't allowed to remove a speedy deletion tag from it but it was probably fine for Registeredagent to do so because that article was not worthy of tagging for speedy deletion and looks like it's going to be worth keeping.[2] Actually, you're not supposed to tag an article for speedy deletion unless you're super sure it meets one of the speedy deletion criteria and you weren't super sure the article was promotional and couldn't be rewritten not to be promotional without being rewritten entirely. You actually can nominate an article for deletion if you previous tagged it for speedy deletion and the tag got removed and you think the person who removed it might have made a mistake and it might be worthy of deletion, the very thing Registeredagent complained about. If you're super sure an article is worthy of deletion but can't find a criteria for speedy deletion that it meets, you can propose it for deletion. If you think an article might be worthy of deletion but aren't super sure, you can nominate it for deletion but aren't allowed to propose it for deletion or tag it for speedy deletion. You can also nominate an article for deletion if you previous tagged it for proposed deletion and the PROD got contested because Proposed deletion doesn't mean it's so unimportant do delete an article that it should get deleted unless someone objects to it but rather means you're so sure it's worthy of deletion that there's no need for a discussion of whether it should get deleted. Blackbombchu (talk) 23:10, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Blackbombchu: Sometimes, I'll AfD an article because it's so recently created, that the creator is guaranteed to remove the PROD tag, particularly if they're new. This can be confusing, since PROD is the only deletion tag you can technically take down if you created the article.
And actually, I was probably quite sure at the time I tagged for CSD. Sometimes, I'm overly sure. I dream of horses (C) @ 00:04, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Help Regarding new article edit

hi, I have recently saved an article, i want to edit this article more. #REDIRECT Finlace Consulting Your valuable suggestions will be highly appreciated. This page is regarding a broking organization where i work and i need to increase its presence on wikipedia.com.

-Regards Ashugarora (talk) 13:11, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Ashug AroraReply

Hello Ashugarora and welcome to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, Wikipedia is not the place to promote an organization or promote it (see WP:NOTFREEWEBHOST.) Websites suitable for this include Linkedin. Articles that are created only to promote a subject are likely to be rapidly deleted (see WP:CSD#G11.) An article on an organization also needs to establish its notability (overall impact on the world.) This needs to be done through the use of reliable sources (those with a reputation for fact checking and accuracy: see WP:RELIABLE) that are [WP:Secondary sources|secondary]], meaning they are not directly to the subject, such as a newspaper reporting on the organization simply because it is newsworthy. If you need to work on an article, you can draft it at User:Ashugarora/example, or create an Articles for Creation draft at Draft:Example. If the organization appears suitably notable for an article, you will need to disclose your connection to it on its Talk page (see WP:Conflict of interest.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Thelma_C._Davidson_Adair — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adjoajo (talkcontribs) 20:06, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Adjoajo I've helped a bit with how the draft is worded: peacock terms are words that promote a subject is good without explaining. I've removed some vague wording: saying that her work is used as a national standard, for example, would need to be more specific, e.g. the government has stated it uses her work as a national standard. More footnotes are needed for references throughout (see WP:Footnote) - for example, the Awards section is unreferenced. You can cite the same reference twice by writing <ref name="example"/> in the first <ref> bracket and then writing <ref name="example/> to add a footnote to it somewhere else, if that helps: see WP:Refname. Apart from that, reliable sources are needed- those that have a reputation for fact checking and accuracy (see WP:R.) Secondary sources - sources not directly connected to the subject - will also be needed for much of the information, such as describing her influence. Am example of a secondary source would be a news reporter providing coverage of her because she was newsworthy, rather than because they were affiliated to her in some way. Independent sources will also be helpful; these are similar to secondary sources, as they mean a source unconnected to the subject. I hope this helps and good luck with the article. Thanks, --Rubbish computer 00:26, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

So what you're telling me is that because I'm planning to add factual, neutral information about a well known sex offender in a town that is more than likely notable, I am making an attack page... I see this as immature honestly. Philmonte101 (talk) 03:52, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Philmonte101: The thing is, most sex offenders aren't notable, and false accusations of producing child pornography can ruin a life. I have to be very cautious. I dream of horses (C) @ 03:56, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Search Google for (Redacted). He is definitely a sex offender. It was confirmed by police and everyone here in (Redacted) knows about it. The simple fact is, by placing information on a page, I have no intent of "attacking" anyone. I am just trying to build the encyclopedia. Someone will almost definitely look for one day a sum of information about (Redacted), who has several news articles about him. This is definitely something people will want to see, first off. Second of all, I found over 10 sources from different websites, that talk more about than just his arrest. It also speaks of him on bond, and (Redacted), someone who got arrested at a different (Redacted) at around the same time for essentially the same thing. You don't understand that this would be a very interesting, notable, and important article. Like I said, pretty much everyone in (Redacted) knows about (Redacted) at this point. I'd say he's a town-known criminal, and forgive me for using the word deserve, but he deserves an article. Notice how on my articles I never use things such as bias words or POVs. I only rely on information and facts to support my articles. Please consider all of these things. Philmonte101 (talk) 04:06, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Philmonte101: (Redacted) may not qualify for an article, under the rule that we don't have articles on living people known for only one event. If I can google him and find out about him, so can other people. I dream of horses (C) @ 04:10, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
That's fine, but why must you assume that I was "attacking" someone by entering information into a page? It'd be like saying the creator of ISIS's Wikipedia page had the intent of attacking ISIS. Philmonte101 (talk) 04:13, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Philmonte101: Under this criterion: "an article about a living person that is entirely negative in tone and unsourced, where there is no neutral version in the history to revert to." I was simply being cautious, because I tend to be cautious instead of bold about living people. Also, I nominated under this criterion "disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic)". I dream of horses (C) @ 04:17, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I redacted mentions of identifying information of the person under discussion above. @Philmonte101:, you need to be extremely careful in discussing this sort of subject. We cannot tolerate unsourced negative information on BLPs. I deleted the article above and rev-deleted all mentions of this person's name. Before creating a disambiguation page or adding hatnotes to existing articles, write the article on the subject first. Be very careful when writing the article on this subject that anything controversial or derogatory is firmly cited by reliable sources. Grondemar 04:19, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

The far bigger issue, above and beyond the concerns raised by DexDor and Rubbish computer, is that making these inconsequential edits violates the Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser#Rules of use, which specify "Do not make insignificant or inconsequential edits. An edit that has no noticeable effect on the rendered page is generally considered an insignificant edit. If in doubt, or if other editors object to edits on the basis of this rule, seek consensus at an appropriate venue before making further edits." Your changes to your AWB settings seem to have addressed this issue, as I haven't seen any recent edits that would fall into this category. All of us using AWB need to be careful, as "Repeated abuse of these rules could result, without warning, in your software being disabled." Alansohn (talk) 14:39, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I had a question related to that article: how can I succeed in having it not labeled as "fan pov"? I mean, of course I could just edit the marking but that's not the point. I read the wiki pages about "making it more neutral" etc but it seems that I did not do enough. I'd like that mention removed because it makes the article not serious enough and I'm sorry about it. My motivation to write this article was to indeed put some light on a thinker I appreciate (and I'm preparing a version in French, which is my mother tongue), but I am convinced that it can be useful to many other readers. There's no page on the Internet so complete about this person yet and I made the effort to put links to many other sources. So: what should I do next?

Thank you for your help,

Best,

Sanscontrefacon (talk) 11:46, 10 October 2015 (UTC)SanscontrefaconReply

@Sanscontrefacon: I went ahead, removed the tag, and rephrased one sentence to make the article even more neutral. It's interesting how minor edits can make an article much better. I dream of horses (C) @ 21:23, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your edit in Abbreviation edit

Hi! I've reverted your edit in the article Abbreviation as "et al" (without full stop) is used as an example for AMA style, which uses no full stops in abbreviations. —SelfishSeahorse (talk) 17:36, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Abductor muscle disambiguation page link edit

The Abductor page is a disambiguation page that has a link to Abductor muscle on it. You made a change which altered the link to point at muscle instead of Abductor muscle. While muscle, unlike Abductor muscle, is not a disambiguation age, it's a worse target than Abductor muscle because muscle doesn't contain the word "Abductor", and thus someone starting out from Abductor will end up needing to perform a different search.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Abductor&type=revision&diff=646604562&oldid=544488881

I don't know what the right thing to do is in this case and am not invested enough to care deeply. But I do know that removing a link to a disambiguation page is strictly inferior to an actually relevant link to a disambiguation page. I feel like this is one of those edits that editors make that harm Wikipedia, because the prioritize conventions and rules over information and usability.

Hopefully you can fix it properly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.186.204.245 (talk) 20:35, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Shivshankar Kadadevarmath edit

In September you proposed Shivshankar Kadadevarmath for deletion and the proposal was removed. It seems to me to be a vanity page more than anything. Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza edit

Can you explain what this edit was about? Someone seems to have attempted to do a page move via use of {{db-move}} on a new page (as opposed to moving it themself – which they can't due to a lack of autoconfirmed permission – or using the requested moves process), but your AWB cleanup edit seems to have made the situation a lot more confusing, and both the original author, and me (on CSD patrol), aren't entirely sure what to do next. --ais523 22:55, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

I added more wikilinks to Morafic to answer your tag. It and about 10 other horse articles were given to me by Montanabw as needing creation, and I've created about half of them. I deleted it, but changed the reason to 'blatant hoax'. The dates didn't add up, and the idea of an Indian Governor-general in South Africa was a bit too much. HP Controversy in Israeli Settlements edit

Thank you for enriching the HP page on Wikipedia with verifiable comments about its involvement in Israeli Settlements and Occupation. Unfortunately editors that want to silence this information, have eventually completely removed all references to HP in Israel from the page. Inconsequential edits with AWB edit

Hi, I've noted that you have made whitespace-only adjustments to articles using AWB. In its rules of use, they say "Do not make insignificant or inconsequential edits". I have to admit these edits don't bother me that much, but they can tend to bother other editors a lot. So, please take this in the spirit of an informational head's up. I want to see all AWB users use the tool successfully, as we can get a lot of useful wiki-work done with it. Cheers! Stevie is the man! TalkWork 01:45, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Stevietheman: I think the whitespace edits that AWB makes would make the articles look more standard, for a lack of better phrasing. I do have it skip articles with only whitespace edits if the list of articles is long enough, so there shouldn't be too much watchlist spam. --I dream of horses (My edits) @ 02:33, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, these kinds of cleanup are good for making the articles look more standard for the editor (not a bad thing in the vein of programmers using lint on code), but the reader sees no difference in the result. That's why it's generally recommended that such edits should be combined with consequential (i.e., a reader can see the difference) edits before saving. I'm just trying to save you from potential grief from particular editors. :) Stevie is the man! TalkWork 03:25, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Stevietheman: Right, right. I mean, I know there's a subtle difference with whitespace, but I'll stop. --I dream of horses (My edits) @ 05:22, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Lady Aleena: {{talkback}} is still around, particularly for IP editors, though having a template for {{ping}} might be nice. The main reason I updated my own signature is because new editors I was welcoming with huggle were saying "You told me to give you a talkback template so here it is", leaving messages at Template talk:Talkback, etc. If you don't have that problem, it's probably okay to keep your current signature, particularly if you aren't around much. --I dream of horses (C) @ 20:01, 18 October 2015 (UTC) (reworded at 20:07, 18 October 2015 (UTC))Reply

Dreamer, I saw LA's orange bar, thought it was you leaving a message and talking to yourself! I thought maybe the responses were being removed, so I checked history. I tried using user:jim1138/s.css, logged out and discovered it was editable by an IP, so I requested page protection: here and got quite a response. One admin saying I shouldn't do a subst for a signature. So, I guess I'll have to leave a message as to why I want to use it before I start. Then tried user:jim1138/sig.css and found it is automatically protected. I tried to minimize the byte count. Probably could change the {{ping|Jim1138}} to {{U|Jim1138}} and eliminate the "small". Thanks for your help! BTW: something you probably know, but you can do a {{noping|Jim1138}}. What do you think: Jim1138 If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{Ping|Jim1138}} to your message. Semi-protected edit request on 19 October 2015 edit

Hi there. On the "Sage Northcutt" wiki page, there is a deletion proposal notice. The explanation was "non notable..." I'm not really sure what the user was getting at, because Northcutt is a hugely hyped mixed martial arts prospect with 21k twitter followers and close to 76k instagram followers. The page, despite being relatively new, is filled with sources; in fact, there is a reference after virtually every sentence. Just wanted to bring it to your attention, as you are an experienced editor. Is there an easy way to get rid of the notice? Thanks in advance. 71.121.235.10 (talk) 20:21, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

That isn't a deletion notice. That's simply a notice that says "This page may not be notable, but I'm not sure if I should nominate it for deletion".
Instragram and twitter followers doesn't give you notability. However, some of the sources (namely, the articles about Sage) do help quite a bit, and I went ahead and took down the notice. --I dream of horses (My edits) @ 20:30, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ethnic groups in Malaysia template edit

Hello I dream of horses, I believe you don't work with editing any Wikipedia pages to do with Malaysia, but you're only one of two users I could think of at the moment that works to make sure Wikipedia is used properly. I have asked users (on their talk pages) Muffin Wizard and Alexander Iskandar why they changed the Ethnic groups in Malaysia template, Muffin Wizard replied and fixed the template to an extent but I believe this is not fair. Alexander Iskandar changed the design completely without any discussion on the template's talk page. A template is only supposed to be used a a guide but it appears to be informing the reader who in Malaysia is considered "Bumiputera Malaysian" and who is considered "non-Bumiputera Malaysian". The previous version of the template worked fine without politicising it. All it did was address the ethnic groups in the country. (124.180.199.116 (talk) 10:59, 22 October 2015 (UTC))Reply

One does not need to discuss changes on the talk page before making changes. One of the five pillars of Wikipedia is being bold.
However, people do need to respond to any concerns about their editing, so I'll go ahead and ping Muffin Wizard and Alexander Iskandar so they can do so, per my edit notice ("If you're asking why someone other than me (I dream of horses) made an edit, talk to the person that did it (looking at the article history may help). If you insist on talking to me, I may end up notifying the person so they may explain and/or defend themselves.").
I tend to avoid making non-minor articles about real-world politics for this very reason. --I dream of horses (My edits) @ 19:28, 22 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Testing my signature edit

I hope you don't mind me testing my updated signature on your talk page. I'd also like to know if there is anything I should do better. It is definately shorter and less intrusive than my previous one. Thank you for keeping me in mind whenever this signature style is mentioned. :) LA If you reply here, please {{Ping}} me. @ 21:42, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Lady Aleena: I like your signature. :-) I dream of horses (My edits) @ 15:35, 28 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Help? edit

Um, can someone make a better edit to the hopstop page please? It is now defunct and no one has notice to try to fix it. Please help... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.148.157.212 (talk) 4:34, October 29, 2015‎

I think it's pretty clear that HopStop is defunct at the moment. --I dream of horses (My edits) @ 04:39, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

New Editor Assistance edit

Hello,

I am a course instructor for a University level Aviation Human Factors course. I am new to Wikipedia, as are my students, but we are learning together how to restructure academic content to work on this platform. I wanted to send a short note to thank you for the feedback you left on the user page of one of my students WLin72. I appreciate that you took the time to share your advice and guidance and I am sure my student will benefit from it. Thanks againSkearns4 (talk) 21:21, 30 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Skearns4: You are welcome. I will, at times, welcome a bunch of new editors, so you may see me again. --I dream of horses (My edits) @ 18:17, 31 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Help Uploading Pictures edit

I've read the pages regarding copyright and uploading pictures. Most recently, I was under the impression that I uploaded the pictures correctly. I uploaded them through Wiki Commons and they were my own pictures. I did not take them from anywhere else and I agreed to release them as a free image. However, my pictures were quickly removed after only a day of warning. How do I upload my own personal photos without there being a copyright issue?Melissa.leanda (talk) 16:37, 30 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Melissa.leanda: It sounds like you followed the basics I would tell anyone to do, so I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe someone else more familiar with Wikimedia Commons would be better to ask (anyone Commons-familiar watching this talk page). --I dream of horses (My edits) @ 18:27, 31 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
